Great affordable place to stay
The house was perfect for what we needed. Had 6 people and were never in each other’s way. Nice low price and close enough to everything in Knoxville we wanted to do. Our only negative is there was no real hot water. Easy fix for the homeowner to fix but we had all been out in 40 degree rain for hours and just wanted to warm up with hot showers and needless to say it was pretty disappointing. But with that issue resolved we would stay here every time we are in town.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback. I will look into the hot water dilemma and get the water temperature hot!
Very clean with good TV set-up, but tired mattresses and no basic supplies.
The location and layout is very good. The 3 bedrooms provide a generous amount of room and the two couches in the main gathering area seem fairly new and are very nice. There were TVs everywhere and they were all connected to very strong WiFi with Netflix - very nice. The rental was very clean and seemed well maintained. However, the mattresses, at least the king and queen sized mattresses were very weak. We slept in both hoping the second was better, but it really was not. The hot water in the shower seemed to be set too low. Also, although the unit comes with a dishwasher, there was no no dishwasher soap or dish detergent. There was also no laundry soap, bar soap or shampoo. There was also no supplies in the kitchen even as might have been left over from prior tenants - no coffee, no filters, no cooking oil. There was salt and pepper.
Thank you for your feedback.
Hot water heater has been checked and adjusted up to the factory settings.
I provided guests and arrival/departure email. In this email I advise guests that there will not be and 'toiletry' items in the home except 1 roll each of toilet paper & paper towels. Guests are responsible for ALL other items desired for use in the home.
Decent and clean
The house was nice and clean. It had everything we needed. The only bad thing was the shower had no water pressure and did not get hot.
Thank you for the feedback.
Adjusted the hot water heater to factory settings.
A great value!
We came in from Ohio and Canada for my daughters graduation from UT. We wanted a place where we could have a comfortable visit and not be either forced to spend all our time running around or sitting in each other’s hotel rooms. We also had a few friends stopping by for brief visits. This place worked out great. My parents, my daughter and myself each had our own room with comfortable beds.
The living room is NOT as shown...it’s better. The two small chairs have been replaced with another comfortable couch. The dining table is also NOT as shown, but also better with 6 comfortable, cushioned chairs instead of 4.
There is only one bathroom but it was plenty big enough for 3 women doing makeup at once. Plenty of towels.
For the most part the kitchen had everything we needed. It was missing dishwasher soap, but we generally wash as we use anyway and there was regular dish soap and a new sponge provided.
The TVs were new flat screens (big one in the living room, and good sized TVs in all bedrooms) and had both digital antenna and Roku. The digital antenna didn’t pick up much in the living room, but the one in the bedroom picked up several more channels so I’m sure if you move it slightly it would be fine. Wi-fi worked great! We didn’t spend much time watching TV.
The house is half a trailer, so don’t expect a gorgeous house. But for the price I can’t even imagine how we could have done better. I’d guess it took 8 to 10 minutes to get downtown. The parking area is fairly level but the 2 entrances are very steep. If your in a car, use the concrete drive or you’ll bottom out. The lock box to access the key is a little stiff, so don’t panic just give it a wiggle.
We are not bothered by trains, but if you are the train is loud and runs about every 2 hours.
Honestly, I was a little wary of this property but wanted to be close to downtown. I was not disappointed , it was a GREAT VALUE, and I would stay here again. We never had any reason to contact the owner.
Okay for the price
This place is okay for the price, but it really needs a deep cleaning and updating. The fridge is pretty dirty inside and out, the laundry room doors, floors and walls all have stains and are dirty. The dishwasher and clothes washer smelled, both need to have a cleaning solution/tab, run through a few cycles. The bathroom is missing the tub plug, so our little ones had to take a shower, not too big a deal for us, but might be for a family with babies or toddlers. The beds are not very comfortable and squeak when anyone rolls over. Several outlets need to be replaced, could only use one of the plugs is several outlets. Also no GFI outlets in bathroom, not sure if TN building code requires this, but is a safety issue, that people need to be aware of, especially if using hairdryers or electric razors. The neighborhood is not the best, the first night we arrived there were three police cars with lights flashing at the house next door and there are several homeless people wandering around day and night. As other reviews mentioned, the train is really close and goes through several times a day. Might bother some, but didn’t bother us. The positive is that the owner is very responsive to issues, we were missing a bedroom t.v remote, she brought us a new one the next day. It is close to the University and downtown and it is cheep.
The housekeeper was present in the home and conducted a walk through with Amy at the time for her arrival. Then, I was present in the home 24 hours later, on Thanksgiving Evening, to replace a missing remote, and Amy didn't mention ANY of these items to either one of us even as we asked if there was anything needed with my home. Given the opportunity to correct any cleanliness or other issue with the home, I or the housekeeper would have gladly corrected the issue on the spot. However, I have now notified the housekeeper of the cleaning , and any squeaky beds will be addressed, tightened and/or repaired.
I have placed the highest quality mattresses in my home, and this is the singular negative comment ever received about the beds not being comfortable in my home?
This home/building was constructed brand new in 2010, so I can assure you that the building is up to code and is not in need of updating. The requirement for GFI outlets is up to code also.
Again, had Amy communicated any of her concerns to the housekeeper or myself, we would have addressed them during her stay rather than now in my response to her review.
clean and has the main necessities
The home is clean. The owners are very quick to respond. We have some trouble with the key getting stuck in the lock. They came and replaced the locks that day!!!! Some things to know- the area where the house is, is a bit run down and nothing is walkable-BUT this house is in perfect condition. A 10 minute drive and you are downtown. Very easy access to the highways.
Thank you for your informative and positive feedback. Safe Travels.
