About the property

Located a short drive from Historic Staunton or beautiful Highland County.

The custom built home features an open living room with large stone fireplace, kitchen, and dining area on the main floor as well as the master bedroom and bath. Upstairs is the second bedroom, bathroom and loft area overlooking the living room. The finished, walk-out basement features a bar, game table, and sitting area with a sleeper sofa as well as a bathroom with washer and dryer. About Luke and Leslie Hewitt

We are Luke and Leslie Hewitt. Luke and I were married on this property in 2011 on Star Hill. My father bought the first piece of this property in 1993, and was able to add to it over the years. Luke and I started living out here in 2011, and became full owners in 2016. We have three children: Hunter, 12; Lauren, 10; and Charlotte, 3. We love this beautiful, peaceful spot in the Shenandoah Valley. Luke is an avid hunter and fisherman and has wonderful access to both right here. This is where we've chosen to build our life and raise our family.

Luke and Leslie Hewitt purchased this cabin in 2016

Amazing Get-Away - Gorgeous Vista Views - Beautiful Upscale Cabin - Great Hiking and Fishing

  • 5 of 5

This large (800+ acres) estate mountain/farm property is a rare and fabulous treat. The cabin is really a three level upscale mountain house and sits on hill in trees on opposite side of property from the main house. It’s solid construction consists of all exposed wood with stone accents is attractive and would easily accomodate a large/extended family. The main living/great room stone fireplace is huge and the fires warmed the entire main and upper levels during our fall stay in late October. We caught a lot of nice sized bass, crappie and perch, canoed, and hiked through the mountain trails attached and adjacent to the property. The views are amazing and the quiet nature sounds completely devoid of the drone of civilization’s background noise pollution. The Hewiit’s are great hosts and we will be coming back again soon. One of our favorite vacays and this gets our highest recommendation!!

Note that others recommend bringing food and supplies - that is good advice - we made one trip into town to get a few items we forgot to take - 20 minutes to Churchill or 5 minutes to local country store/gas station. You will lose cell service about 10 minutes out from the property which we did not miss having!

Great cabin on a beautiful piece of property

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a cabin with beautiful views and hiking/fishing. This cabin foot the bill and then some. The cabin itself is very nice with lots of room for our family of five. There is no cell service, wifi or cable tv and we loved it!!! We played games, watched family DVD's and just enjoyed each others' company. Outdoors there are a plethora of things to do. We went fishing (there are several ponds) and caught several fish. The kids enjoyed conoeing and kayaking as well. We went hiking and picked fresh blackberries, never once having to leave the property. We had a great time getting away from the hustle and bustle of our normal everyday lives. The kids are already asking when we can go back!! Thank you to the awesome owners who made sure our stay was perfect!! We will be back!!
