FANTASTIC!!! We will be back!
If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful house in the middle of the country, this is it. My husband Jimmy and I came here to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. We brought our 3 small dogs. The house is PERFECT. Everything we could possibly need was provided, including anything we may have forgotten (shampoo, toothbrushes, etc). The kitchen was stocked for anything you could want to cook, even had baking supplies if you’re so inclined. We don’t have kids but I noticed that they’re stocked for them too - high chair, pack n play, etc. The scenery is breathtaking. I can’t stress that enough. The house is very spacious, immaculate, and comfortable. At night you can see every star in the sky. While this house is on a working orchard, we felt like we had 100% privacy. Down the drive there are goats and donkeys. Around the corner there are cows. There’s no better feeling than sitting on the front porch in the morning with a cup of coffee (also provided) and watching the bunnies hop by. Honestly, they have thought of everything. The Barnes family are so nice and so accommodating - they made us feel right at home. They left us freshly picked blueberries from the orchard and they were delicious.
We spent a lot of our time traveling - we checked out Downtown Lynchburg. We loved Natural Bridge - we did the hike, the caves and the safari drive. If you like animals, do not miss the safari drive! The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby and stunning. I recommend Bootleggers restaurant in Lynchburg - that was the best burger I’ve ever had.
If I had to come up with a downside to the trip it would be that the house gets bad cell reception (at least for our AT&T phones). That is arguably a selling point, particularly when you’re on vacation and want to disconnect. WiFi worked just fine, so we weren’t completely off the grid.
We’re from CT, so we’re used to a lot more hustle and bustle. This was exactly what we needed - plenty nearby to keep us busy so we weren’t bored, plenty of serene scenery to relax in. I’m pretty sure we’ll be making the drive back to the farm next year. Thanks so much, Barnes Family, for a fantastic week!!!
Beautiful get away!
We enjoyed our visit to this beautiful place. We spent quite a bit of time relaxing on the front porch and our trips into Lynchburg were convenient and easy.
We enjoyed a lot of bird watching which included a Baltimore Oriole and a Bob White. It was also fun to see that we had a visiting cow in the backyard one morning.
My family really enjoyed a weeks stay at the Morris Orchard farmhouse. Kids and I had a great time roaming around the property and the Barnes family were great hosts. Many outdoor activities within an hour drive of the property.
Great house in a beautiful setting!
My family (and dog) stayed at this home over the Thanksgiving holiday. We were greeted with fresh apples and apple cider - such a treat - and Wil and Judy were great hosts. They answered questions quickly, taught us about apple butter production, and Wil is a great source of local information. The house was very clean and well maintained - and the kitchen has enough pots and pans to cook your traditional Thanksgiving feast. At night we were amazed at how many stars there were - something that city living doesn't afford! We had a long over due vacation and truly relaxed - went for walks through the orchards, visited the goats, played games, and went hiking about a 30 min drive away. We were sad to go but hope to return in the future! I highly recommend picking up a few jars of apple butter on your way out - spectacular on pancakes!
Beautiful spot and house furnished nicely. Great place for kids and just relaxing. Will keep it in mind for future.
Amazing place to stay.
