Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath Canal Home With Private Beach Access.

Welcome! This light, bright and airy cottage is a 1400 sf. double wide mobile home that has recently been renovated and remodeled. It comes with cable tv and high speed wifi. It is relaxing, sunny and bright with a true beach vibe. The giant chalk board in the dining area is great for leaving a note or for the budding artist. We Do Not Allow Smoking Within The Cottage.

Three bedrooms, 1 new pillow top Queen, 1 new Bamboo memory foam bed, and bunk beds. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan for that relaxing hum and breeze and of course central heat and air conditioning.

An open and well-appointed kitchen with adjoining dining room and a breakfast bar makes it roomy enough for one cook or three. Two porches on either side of the cottage and a backyard raised canal-side deck, with grill, party lights and a picnic table give you several options for outdoor cooking and dining as well. Brand new central heat & air & new ductwork assures you of clean air. The canal is only 30 feet out the back door with a 10x10 dock and a 10x16 floating dock. It's a short boat trip to the intra-coastal waterway from the dock, so bring your boat. If you even feel like leaving at all, you can take a leisurely stroll through the friendly neighborhood to the private beach access for the neighborhood. You will pass 2 great restaurants along the way. Napoli's has an outdoor deck with live music on the weekends. The shady walk to the beach is a five-minute stroll. If you want to drive, there are several beach-side parks within a mile, each with a wooden walkover to the beach. They have bathrooms and showers with covered picnic tables. Several boat launches are also within a mile of our cottage.

The yard is great for relaxing outside. The kids can run and play. It's fenced on three sides. (not at the canal front bulkhead; you must watch small children outdoors) There is a large paved concrete parking area and an outdoor shower too.

We're 5 minutes to grocery stores (Publix and Winn Dixie). You can walk to local restaurants 5 minutes away for a pizza & beer with live music on the weekends. Close to several beach access ramps, boat ramps, many restaurants, convenience / gas store, surf shop, pubs, bait shop, and only a 10-15 minute EASY drive to downtown St. Augustine. Downtown Historic district is only 9 miles from the cottage. This area is surrounded by water and A1A is a scenic drive all the way down the coast. A fun day trip is to drive south on A1A to Daytona Beach. Disney World/Orlando is about a 2 hour drive from the cottage. I -95 access is 7 miles from the cottage.

There are no shortages of things to do and see in this area. Saint Augustine 'the Ancient City' has Ripley's Museum, The Wax Museum, several Ghost Tours, The Pirate Ship Tours, The Pub Tour, Castillo de San Marcos the Spanish Fort, Saint George Street an interesting stroll through the heart of the city, The Fountain of Youth, The Old Jail, Alligator Farm and many other interesting and fun things to do.

Don't forget Matanzas National Park which is about 5 miles south. It features a free guided tour and boat ride to an old Spanish fortress on the ICW and nature walkways throughout the surrounding woods. A little further south on AIA is Marineland, which has recently been bought by the Atlanta Aquarium but you can still swim with the dolphins, just down the road a bit is Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, nice natural settings with many interesting ponds and plants of numerous types and it spans from the Intracoastal Waterway across AIA to the beach.

Why Mark Bratek chose Saint Augustine

We have been searching for the perfect family vacation home. We fell in love with this property because it had everything. It was big enough for the family with a place to dock my boat and walk to the beach. We love St. Augustine. We thought since we didn't need it all of the time we would share it with others to enjoy.

What makes this cottage unique

Boat dockage, short walk to the beach and plenty of dining, shopping and historical sights.

Awesome Vacation on a Budget!

  • 5 of 5

Mark's place was perfect for my family's annual summer vacation to Florida. His home filled all of our needs... comfortable, 10 minute walk to the beach and close to restaurants/stores. Mark is a fantastic host, flexible with a quick response time! Would definitely love staying there again... thanks for everything!

Unplesant

  • 2 of 5

I have held off writing this review but to be fair it was not good.

1) There was a smell like sewage in the bedrooms.

2) In front of the unit were parked several trailers and a old boat.

3) The floor had soft spots.

4) The veneer on the bathroom door sticks and almost comes off when opening.

Owner's Response: Jim, I am very sorry to hear about these issues. The trailers were moved to the street in front of the home so you could put your boat in the driveway and to make space for you on the dock so you could keep your boat in the water. I wish you would have called me about the door and smell and I would have been right there to address it for you. We spoke several times about navigation ng the intercoastal and where to fish and use the boat and you never mentioned these issues. I stayed there with my kids after you and didnt notice a smell or the door. Again I am very sorry about your experience. I really try to make sure everyone has a good stay.

Quiet beach get away

  • 5 of 5

The home was quaint and spacious for our needs. It was a cool experience to be on the canal. We used Mark's canoe and kayak a couple of times to explore the canals. The beach is just a 2 minute drive away! Mark was super attentive to our needs and was a great host. I definitely would stay again.

Nice place to get away!

  • 4 of 5

Nice, cozy place that was big enough for our whole family. Kids had a blast fishing from the dock and taking the canoe out on the river. Only downfall was that the ocean isn't really close

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying. You were wonderful guests. I appologize for not showing you the private beach access my community has. It is right accross A1A at the entrance and provides a boardwalk to the beach. It is 2 blocks from the house.

LOCATION AND VALUE

  • 4 of 5

It is an older mobile home. Beds were comfortable. The mobile home was clean. Lots of outside areas and private shower outside with hot water. The canoe and kayak provided was nice to venture into the canals and out into the river. Short walk to the beach that allows dogs and there are vehicles driving on the beach. You do have to cross the highway. Gated yard so that your pet can navigate freely without worries. This is a good location and a good price. If your looking for shiny and new; then you should pay double the money and stay else where. I would definitely would lease again with Mark when staying in the area.

great beach place!

  • 5 of 5

For our purposes, this place was perfect. There was plenty of room for the six of us, plenty of plates and stuff. We even baked cookies. The bikes were really handy for getting to see the rest of our family less than a mile away. We really liked the canoe too. We put it in right out back and had a great paddle! Fantastic for outdoorsy people like us. Mark was very attentive and flexible about check-out. We would definitely stay here again!
