Directly on Front Street and Taylor's Creek. Close to Downtown.
We would like to welcome you to "The Easy Plateau" Cottage on Taylor's Creek in Beaufort.
Our home is comfortable and clean and is supplied with everything you need, including TVs in the living room and each bedroom, wireless internet and a modern kitchen with all new appliances. Fresh bed linens are provided as are bath towels and wash clothes.
Our cottage has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The shower for the second bath, is an outdoor shower which is private and easily accessible directly from the bathroom.
There is also a bonus room off the livingroom which has a comfortable day bed. We call it the "Hemingway Room" as the decor is inspired by Hemingway's boat, Pilar.
We've just added a huge floating dock with room for 2 boats and there is also a floating kayak dock, swim ladder, fish cleaning station and bench seating on the pier.
From the front porch and dock, you will enjoy a continuous parade of boats, wild horses and pirate shenanigans. With deep and calm water, Taylor's Creek is the perfect harbor.
You will only be 1/2 mile from downtown Beaufort, where you'll find plenty of restaurants, bars and shops.
It's a quick drive to world class beaches, the ICW, the North Carolina aquarium, charter boat fishing and cruising and diving. There are fishing tournaments and festivals galore, including The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, The Beaufort Pirate Invasion, The Beaufort Historic Home and Garden Tour, The Beaufort Music Festival, Wooden Boat Show, Harker's Island Duck Decoys, and NC Seafood Festival. There are always fun activities in town including live music almost nightly on the town boardwalk.
Beaufort was one of Blackbeards favorite hangouts. Had you been our guest in 1717, you would have laid gaze on Blackbeard's mooring , as the home that he frequently visited while on holiday from pirating, is only a half a block behind us. There is little doubt that he walked across our property to reach his girlfriend's home. He ran aground off Beaufort's coast 300 years ago, and the Beaufort branch of the North Carolina Maritime Museum proudly displays artifacts salvaged from his ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge.
Beaufort has been voted best yachting destination and America's Coolest Small Town. The Cape Lookout National Seashore was recently voted best National Park. You can see the beacon flash of the Cape Lookout lighthouse from the front porch at night.
If you rent our home we ask that you respect the peace and privacy of your neighbors. While Beaufort has become a bustling tourist destination, it is still a quiet community, especially after dark.
We know you will enjoy your vacation at "The Easy Plateau" in Beaufort .

Amy purchased this House in 2016
Why Amy chose Harkers Island
We purchased this home because of it's close proximity to downtown Beaufort and for the boat dock and incredible view. We love watching the wild horses, dolphins and boats go by. You will too!

Great house, location and owners.
We had a great time in Beaufort. The house is perfectly located for walking into town or just sitting and relaxing overlooking the creek, horses and boats passing by. The house is very clean and well stocked with everything you need. The owners are very nice and responsive.
Cozy and relaxing
I own my own business where I am on call 24 hr. a day and never really get a chance to just relax . Even though I only had 3 days off I don't think I relaxed so much in the past 5 years . We spent most of our time on the front porch watching the boats go by or on the dock either fishing or getting
on the boat that we were allowed to dock there for the weekend .
On one of the boat trips we got to follow about 12 dolphins for about 2 miles back to our dock , it was amazing to watch them interact with each other and all the other boats .
We only ate out once during the stay , at a place Amy recommended . The front street grill , the food was great .
I would love to come back !
Loved having you stay. Can't wait for you to come back and relax again!
Perfect location on taylors creek, close enough to walk to downtown Beaufort, or ride your boat down that is docked in front of the house. Great porch for morning coffee and evening cocktails. We will definitely be back.
LOVED LOVED LOVED!!
We loved our stay at Amy and Jim's beautiful home. My very first thought walking in the door and seeing the view was, "This is right out of a Nicholas Spark's book/movie"! I can't tell you how many times I repeated those words. We lived on the front porch. I woke with my morning coffee, read, listened to music and enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner on that porch! :) It was shaded all day so it stayed very comfortable throughout the day.
We enjoyed fishing on the floating dock across the street. We loved all the activity of the boats coming in and out during the day as well as people kayaking or paddle boarding. We took our paddle board across Taylors Creek, walked just behind the trees you'll see in the pictures and saw 22 wild horses. Pretty amazing!
I would recommending taking a boat out to Cape Lookout but also to Shark's Island. It was breathtaking! I took pictures but I couldn't capture the beauty of what was around me. We saw more wild horses on that adventure as well. We never got off the boat, we just enjoyed taking in the sites around us.
The renovations they did were wonderful. We felt so at home. Everything was spotless! There is only one bathroom inside which was absolutely fine for our family of 4. There's a half bath going out to an outdoor shower which was a score for my 21 year old son. It was completely private and so well done. You can see the pictures they've posted. Loved it!
This was our first time to Beaufort. It is such a quaint, friendly little town. We enjoyed the 1/2 walk to town for lunch/dinners. There are some neat boutiques, shops and restaurants right at your door step. The location of this home is PERFECT! Amy and Jim were wonderful to work with. We could check in after 4:00 pm and by 4:30, Amy had called to make sure everything was okay and told me to contact her if I needed anything. You just can't go wrong with this house. We will absolutely rent it again our next trip to Beaufort.
