About Janice Geeding and Teri Burns
We are two couples nearing our golden years who purchased our first property together just up the street from Casa Del Rio (River House) and affectionately named it Casa Del Sol (House of the Sun) in 2015. Having enjoyed our first house so much, we decided to purchase a second home with the hopes that we would one day retire to Crystal River and have separate homes within walking distance of each other. In the Spring of 2016 we purchased Casa Del Rio. Shortly thereafter, we were hit by Hurricane Hermione and both homes received major damage. They are now completely restored and better than new. Needless to say, the homes are a labor of love. However, we are holding course and intend to continue visiting Crystal River and sharing our homes with the plans of one day becoming winter snowbirds ourselves. In the meantime, we hope to share both homes with families like ourselves... people that love nature, getting away from the hustle of daily life and who know the importance of family and friends.

This house has all the amenities you could ever need, it exceeded our expectations, especially the kitchen, you have everything imaginable at your disposal. Every appliance is up to date, even a wine cooler and ice maker!! The beds are amazing, so very comfortable.
We chartered a fishing boat, Tall Tails Charter. Mario, the captain was wonderful, nice, knowledgeable and we caught lots of fish, more than we could legally keep.
On our last night we went to a restaurant called Pecks Old Port Cove. It's a little ways away but well worth the drive, the food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable.
Can't say enough about Terri, she was so pleasant to work with, very professional, but very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this for your vacation, we enjoyed every minute.
Wonderful home and vacation
I really loved the layout of the house and the location. The canal in the back was bigger than the impression you get from the map. first evening there my stepson and his friend found a couple of manatees in the back canal and got to pet them from the kayaks.
Hired Capt. Duane Tibbetts for 2 days of fishing, took my 10 year old grandson the first day. We caught a limit of speckled trout and redfish and my grandson caught 2 trout and 4 redfish total all by himself. One of his keeper redfish was 26''. I took my stepson and his friend out the next day, the trout weren't biting where we caught them the day before, so Capt. Duane took us down south about an hour run and we limited out on big gator trout. We didn't have time to fish for redfish, but the trout were all better than 18".
The outside kitchen was a great place to cook some fish. We brought down our indoor turkey fryer and had a huge fish fry from my grandson and my catch. Even watched TV out there while I was cooking the fish.
The pool was just right, the water this time of year might have been cool, but the pool is heated so everyone spent time in it.
I enjoyed my conversations with the owners, liked the house so much I told them to contact me if they were ever in the market to sell it. Give it a big 5 stars!!
Life in the slow lane on Florida's nature coast
My wife and I spent the month of March at this home. We appreciated the quiet neighborhood and comfortable accommodations. The kitchen appliances are top-notch. It was fun to watch the birds stalking fish near the water as we sat on the dock. The visit to nearby Three Sisters Springs was memorable, as there were over 60 manatee in the crystal clear spring water when we were there. We rented a pontoon on the Homosassa River and boated to the gulf, with several dolphin and manatee sitings along the way. We also explored Kings Bay and took the Crystal River to the gulf in a rented skiff on another day. We enjoyed the fresh grouper at Peck's Old Port Cove, redfish at Crackers and the trigger fish at Margarita Breeze. Grilling fish and shrimp obtained from local fishermen was also a treat. We hiked in some local state parks and nature areas. The weather was never quite warm enough for comfortable swimming in the pool or at the gulf beach, which is just a few miles down the road. Overall, the area was less crowded than those where we have previously stayed in Florida. A good place to experience the nature coast.
The Perfect Retreat
Stayed for a week in January with co-workers for a working retreat. Could not have asked for a nicer place. The home is immaculate and the state of the art kitchen is a cooks dream. The beds were very comfortable as well. Nice enough that I'm leaving a comment about them! We were working so other then fishing off the dock at night we didn't take advantage of the other amenities. I will happily take my family back for a personal vacation
We are glad you enjoyed your stay, and you are welcome back at anytime. The cleaning staff put the beloved unicorn that you left behind into the mail and you should have it in a day or two. I am glad that we were able to locate it for you. Thanks again and God Bless!
Perfect Vacation spot
Loved the house and the area. Owner was very prompt from start to finish. Got confirmation out quickly. And was available to answer questions about the property upon arrival. All necessities were at the house. The owners wen above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Hope to stay ther again!!!
Dawn - Crystal River is calling you.... it's time for another visit to Casa Del Rio. We'd love to have you back. You were wonderful guests.
The house was awesome and we loved the openness and convenience of it.
The house was everything we could ever want for our family. The owners were great to work with. We felt so comfortable and completely “at home”. The Springs were loaded with manatees due to the cold weather. It is a beautiful area of Florida.
Thank you for the kind review. We are so glad you were able to see the manatees and that you enjoyed our home. We loved having you as our guests and would welcome you back. Next time, maybe the weather will be a little more cooperative.
Much sought after location as it is below the no wake zones found in Kings Bay. The home is half way between the gulf and the restaurants and entertainment found on the water in the Kings Bay. It is also a short kayak ride to Hunter and Three Sister's Springs for Manatee encounters.
