Awesome Cottage

We have stayed here twice, and it never disappoints. Check in is easy and the owners are very responsive. perfect size and location for a nice lake getaway. Highly recommend! Value for what you receive is also on point and it's really a home away from home for us! Can't wait to come again next year!

Not worth the headache

We rented from here for 5 years. This year we rented again even though each year has had its trying times no curtains on windows that finally were put up- the septic backed up this year and we couldn’t use the toilet for 12 hours and the. The house smelled of poop the rest of the day! There was a couch in the yard upon arrival and full trash cans the couch was a fixture for almostEntire stay! The beds are rock hard and old mattresses we bring our own bed pads and beddingAnd ship it in every year to make it sleepable the grass was not well maintained and the coffee pot was broke and I was asked to purchase one and get reimbursed? We could not get the couch bed out the first night so we went and bought airMattresses and I called to alert the owner andAsked them to come look they never came now she sends me a request to replace the couch for 2k you spent 599 at bobs discount furniture are you kidding me .if you rent take the insurance and call Vrbo if they ask you for money the lake is lovely.

It’s really sad to me that you treated our property so disrespectfully and then can leave a review like this. 3 years in a row you have left glowing reviews but now that I have requested reimbursement for items you broke during your stay, now it’s “not worth the headache”. We purchased a brand new couch and had it delivered July 10th, it had no problems pulled out great and looked perfect. After your stay the frame is bent and the bed will no longer pull out, that was a $1,200 couch. One of the drawers in the fridge that was in perfect condition is now broken. Not to mention the numerous pieces of CHEWED gum found all over the house from your children, the chocolate smeared on mattresses, decorations from in the home broken and found in the trash, and finally the hundreds of cigarette butts found all over the front and side yard that we had to pick up by hand. Yes the septic was full during your stay, this was unforeseen and we were very apologetic. You called me at midnight to notify me of a small amount of standing water in the floor of the shower and we had a septic company out by 10am the next morning with all resolved and you never once mentioned any adverse issues from this problem and the people in our house next door didn’t either. I’m very sad that you had to come on here and make up a bunch of lies because of the way you treated my property, I wish you all the best going forward.

August Vacation Week

For the most part everything was great!! The fire pits were full of broken glass, beer cans,food cans and the grills were not clean full of grease which we cleaned. Initially we booked in January when the details included a third bedroom so we were surprised when we confirmed closer to our stay that it was actually only a two bedroom The house has been updated and it is lovely, clean and well equipped we had a wonderful time and the weather was spectacular

Hi Holly, I’m so sorry about the stuff in the fire pit and the grill not being clean, we weren’t aware of that but will get it taken right care of. Also sorry about the bedroom confusion, we have a loft with beds in it but it does not have AC so it gets pretty uncomfortable in the heat so we thought it was best to take it out of the ad until we had it 100% ready for people. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay aside from those couple things!

Sebago Lake

Overall the stay was fine. Kiana was very responsive when we needed to know something. The location to the lake was great. The house met our needs. The cottage next door was under construction and the workers started very early. So that was a negative. . We had an ant problem mainly in the kitchen area too. For a house so close to the lake it would be nice to have some beach chairs to take to the lake and maybe a kayak. We have stayed at lake houses for the past 5 years and those 2 things were usually supplied by owner. And a hair dryer for the girls. The back yard needs a little TLC. There was scrap wood laying around from construction a lawn mower and some old chairs. My own suggestion would to move the grill away from the large propaine tanks that supply gas to the house. Thats not safe.

Not what we thought it would be

We were able to check in early which was nice. The main floor was very clean and newly remodeled. We were told that there was a loft with a twin bed and a toddler bed. The loft was a mess, the beds were not made and it was easily 100° in the space. There was no air conditioning or outlets that I could find safely to put a fan in that room. We were also told that the living room had a pull out couch. We tried opening up it was broken and full of sand. If our other adult children had come with us we would’ve had to find another location for them to stay. When I addressed this with the owner, I was told that she could not do anything about the weather and her house was also hot. I felt for the cost, this was not acceptable. The house was perfect for 4 people, not 6 or 7.

Not what we expected

There was ABSOLUTELY no privacy. No curtains or blinds on ANY of the windows. Thankfully we had extra towels & blankets to hang over the bedroom & bathroom windows. My husband had to cut the lawn. The “dining”table was broken & fell on my daughter. The attic was a mess & totally un-useable- not at ALL what the picture showed. The “porch” was crowded with chairs for the dining table. No railing on the stairs to the attic which added a safety concern for the kids. We had to squeeZe the blow up mattress for the children in the living room. Only 1 bedroom had a dresser. One bedroom the fan didn’t work. No matter how long we had the AC on, the house wasn’t cooling down. We made the best of it, but dissatisfied with our stay.

Many things to consider before booking

The home was nice and recently updated. There are a few things to consider before booking here, however, and I will just list some things we encountered so that renters can assess if this is important to you or not. When I arrived, there were 8 large bags of trash out front from the last stay that did not get taken away until the following evening, brining in flies. When I arrived there was no instruction how to check in and no key available. When owner dropped off the key later she mentioned that the previous renters were "complaining" that there was no dining table so she "had to" go out and get one. I was grateful for the previous renters and to have a place for my family to eat. We ran out of toilet paper the first night. I contacted owner to see where that was stored and she stated she does not provide toilet paper. Upon arrival I had to log into my computer to finish some work (I would have to do some limited work throughout the week). The internet didn't work, I had to log onto another nearby connection to get some minimal tasks completed. The owner tried to help but when it did not work I was just told that it must be my computer. The internet finally came on about 3 days into my stay after insisting it get fixed. There were Tvs but no cable, internet or entertainment devices. I contacted the owner and she said she has a roku for us but forgot to provide it and wasn't sure if she could find it now because her kids were playing with it. Once she finally found it she asked my husband to drive out to her house to pick it up or else it would be a few days until she would bring it to us. He drove out an hour round trip to pick it up that night, mostly because there was a lot of rain that week and we have a 3 year old who was in a different environment and we wanted to let her watch a movie. There are no curtains on the windows and it was difficult to change in private. I rented a boat with a few of my friends one day. The owner knew we would be gone for the day, one friend came midday and we docked to pick her up. When she went in the house to change into her bathing suit, a man came down from the attic. She was startled and uncomfortable. She texted me to see if he was supposed to be in there- I had not given permission. He had a key but did not converse with her and left when he saw her. Overall, we had a nice time. Our family makes the best out of any situation! I hope this feedback helps renters when considering their options.

Perfectly Cottage near the lake

Process from checking in to check out was amazingly easy. Owner very responsive and ready if you need them for anything. If you are looking for a cozy happy family place this is it! Has a nice gas grill outback perfect kitchen well equipped! And an awesome coffee pot for early mornings! Large shower in the bathroom and washer and dryer as well! Couch in living room super cozy to watch movies and the bedroom space is perfect. I was crazy about keeping it clean and perfect for the next renter it’s seriously a nicely decorated and warm place! Don’t pass this one up!!!’

Last minute trip

We book our trip very last minute and we so happy that we did. The house was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. The owner was great and always communicated with me. We'll definitely keep this house in mind when we go back to Sebago.

traditional lake vacation vibes

Wonderful, clean, cozy updated cottage in a lake side neighborhood. Cottage kitchen is perfect!! Fully stocked with all kitchenware! Loved having a washer & dryer to use!! Absolutely a perfect location for a small family or couple who love and appreciate a wonderful lake and beautiful area. A few hiccups that the renter should /could fix are, we were never given a key to the property, no window treatments (shades) for privacy , and the TVs are only for watching DVD’s , not a big deal but all would have been helpful to know before . The area is gorgeous, the residents are amazing and we can’t wait to return!!

Great location

Short walk to the lake and the property had what you need for a lake getaway. Grill, fire pit, equipped kitchen and enough space for the four of us. Communication and cleanliness could be better but we enjoyed our stay

Dirty

The day before we were supposed to leave we received an email that our rental was not available. They gave us a rental next door to the original rental. We were told the replacement was much nicer. The property was not clean, there is a really bad ant problem, the windows were difficult to open and close. Other than a good location I would not recommend this property.

We had a cleaner in the property the day before you came and the day after you left, she noticed that you moved the couch to try and cover two large stains that were now on the carpet that weren't there before you checked in. We had just become aware of the ant problem and had someone out to treat the property already which I informed you of when you reached out about it. Thank you for your review.
