About the property

Located in the Vallée des Châteaux, it is 10 km away from Sarlat.

La Treille is a charming 4-star house that sits at the heart of Beynac, one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is in the Vallée des Châteaux (Dordogne Valley), set 10 km outside of Sarlat. Admire incredible views from the terrace, the living, and the bedroom of the river and the Dordogne Valley. A private garage, 50 m away, offers space for you to park your car.

Great location for exploring the Dordogne

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to the Dordogne region and I don't think we could have picked a better location. La Treille is exactly as described - with the view being the highlight. It was lovely to sit on the terrace at breakfast, planning the day ahead, watching the first canoes of the day going down the river, and always a delight to come back to at the end of the day to watch the hot air balloons that fly over Beynac in the evenings. The terrace is lovely and shady, perfect for hot days. The house is just right for two, with everything you could need for your stay. Having a parking space a couple of minutes' walk away is great bonus, as the house is tucked away on one of the steep paths leading up to the castle, and the car parks in the village are a fair distance from La Treille, plus need payment. La Treille isn't suitable for anyone with limited mobility as it is on a hill and the paths are very steep (although we soon got used to them), and there are steps up to the house. Francine and Michel live in the house below; they greet you on arrival to show you around, and are on hand should you need anything, but are not at all intrusive. Note that they don't speak English so some knowledge of French is useful.

Beynac is beautiful with a lot of charm, and we enjoyed many walks around the village and the surrounding countryside. It is ideally situated for visiting many of the sights in the region - there are numerous chateaux, gardens, villages and caves to visit. Examples of places we visited are: Beynac castle, Sarlat, Roque St Christophe, St Leon sur Vezere, le Gouffre de Padirac, Marqueyssac (gardens), La Roque Gageac, les jardins d'eau, Rocamadour, Chateau de Commarque, Domme, Issigeac ... the list goes on, and there were still more towns, chateaux and gardens we didn't get time to see in our two weeks here.

I would recommend La Treille as a good value, well appointed house in a beautiful village in a good location for visiting this lovely part of France. The only thing that would make it absolutely perfect would be a pool to cool off in on a hot summer's day - but the lack of a pool is a small price to pay for the location.

Fantastic views of the Dordogne River

  • 5 of 5

La Treille was exactly as advertised. It is immaculately maintained and beautifully furnished - the chandeliers gave it a very grand feel. Francine and Michel were gracious hosts who made you feel most welcome. The parking was a great bonus. The location is excellent for wandering Beynac and exploring other towns nearby. The views from the house are amazing and it was an absolute pleasure to come home each day to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and enjoy the views.

Great location, amazing views

  • 5 of 5

We just finished a wonderful week at La Treille. The location is excellent, both for wandering Beynac and exploring other towns nearby. The high ceilings, chandeliers and decorative touches make the smaller space seem grand! The parking was easy and a great bonus. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine (between rain showers) was an exquisite and relaxing experience. We would love to return in the future.

Magnificient view!

  • 5 of 5

3 weeks in France and 3 different apartments. La Treille was definitely the best! Yes, the entire house was spotless and yes, it had absolutely everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, but it was the view (from every room and the terrace) that has us planning our return next year. We loved the days with sunshine but were equally delighted to watch the fog lifting from the river and play hide-and-seek with the château across the way.

The owners, Francine and Michel, were very warm and friendly and easily available for help if needed. The house was perfectly situated for wandering Beynac itself - a stroll down to the shops and restaurants - and then up to the château for fantastic views and/or to work off the yummy pastries and croissants purchased below.

The house was also a great base for visiting the region and exploring caves with prehistoric art as well as picture-perfect villages and countrysides. And to be able to come home to parking that was easy and close by, and then relax on the terrace with some wine and cheese. What a way to end the day!

Thank you Francine and Michel, for such a wonderful spot to put aside the cares of the world!

Très bel endroit et très sympathique location

  • 5 of 5
