Something from the guest book, something about a cooking class and something about a Chianti tour with wine and oil tasting.

from the guest book:

We have lived in five different apartments in Florence over the last six years, and “Pinti 1” is easily our favorite; we lived there for over three months last year. It is beautifully and comfortably furnished, it’s stylish, and it clearly shows the love and care of its owner, Mrs. Claudia Morace. Borgo Pinti is a quiet, mostly pedestrian street. It’s off the “tourist track,” yet within easy walking distance to the historic center of the city. San Ambrogio market, the best market in Florence, is about seven minutes down the street. The apartment is on the top floor of a quiet building, up manageable flights of stairs. It has two floors: the top floor contains the master bedroom and bathroom and a small, quiet alcove for reading or other pursuits. The main floor contains the kitchen, dining area, living room, large bathroom, and guest room. Morning sunlight pours through the large living room window. There is a big dining room table – we seated eight for Thanksgiving dinner – and an abundance of dishes and pots and pans. The apartment is supplied with many quality bed linens and towels; there are three televisions, one in each of the bedrooms and one in the living room, and there’s a good desk where one can work at the computer; the apartment is wired for the internet. Easily our greatest surprise was that the apartment has screens, a luxury in Florence where mosquitoes seem to thrive year-round. A wonderful domestic, Marta, seems to know everything about the apartment, and if she can’t answer your questions, Mrs. Morace is only too happy to help. Speaking of Mrs. Morace, we have never met a more pleasant and accommodating landlady; the instant we met her we were struck by her warmth and friendship. We never felt that our relationship was “strictly business.” She and her beautiful apartment remain one of our happiest memories of Florence – where we hope to return very soon.

You are invited to discover your own exceptional private oasis right in the center of Florence. After an exciting and fun filled day of sightseeing, shopping, museums and theatre you can escape from the fast pace and find peace and quiet...just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

You'll start to relax when you enter your apartment, Have a glass of good wine or a cup of coffee.

This tranquil sanctuary is on an old street, partially closed to the traffic, with easy access to just about all you want to see and do.

Take an easy walk to Mercato di S. Ambrogio (2 minutes), to Duomo (5 minutes), to S.Croce (3 minutes)and to other famous

sights and monuments.

The two flats are delightful, wander inside to enjoy the charm of exposed brick walls, plank floors and original oil paintings.

The Relais is located on the Borgo Pinti, an enchanted street of shops, stores, and lovely restaurants, and home to artisans and artists.

The two flats have been recently restored to a very high standard and represent the opportunity to enjoy luxury living in the heart of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Pinti 1 and Pinti 2 are on the top floor (second European floor)above the noise and traffic of the street

There is no elevator, but the climb is worth it. The steps bring you to a beautiful sunlit entrance to the flats.

Insider Tips: VRBO in Florence, Italy

Panorama of Florence, Italy, taken from the Piazza de Michelangelo.

This travel tip comes from my friend Shelley in San Diego, California, who stayed in a three-bedroom apartment - a 'dream in the heart of Florence' - in December. When she told me how perfect it was for her family, I couldn't resist sharing her comments with you. I love that it's in an upscale area and close to good neighborhood restaurants. It sounds like a great deal and someplace you might want to consider for the next time you travel to Italy.

Vacation rentals are great for authentic travelers who want to connect with the community and the local culture. In my opinion they are better than hotel accommodations for 3G (three-generation) family vacations.

Shelley:

'We had the pleasure of staying in Claudia's beautiful apartment while visiting our daughter who is studying in Florence. We arrived on Christmas day, which we expected to be less than convenient, but Claudia was gracious enough to let our daughter store some food in the kitchen and provide her with a key in advance so that we did not need to disturb anybody's holiday with our arrival. Additionally, the kitchen was stocked with water, juice, coffee, a fresh fruit basket, and wonderful olive oil that Claudia bottles herself. The apartment was spacious enough for the 4 of us to not feel crowded. It was well furnished, with comfortable beds and linens. WiFi, heat, and hot water were all in excellent working order. We were even able to comfortably prepare meals in the kitchen. The location was fabulous...convenient walking distance to everything in Florence, and a true upscale residential neighborhood. Neighborhood restaurants and shops were all very nice. We look forward to staying at Borgo Pinti again on our next visit to Florence.'

WITHIN HOME COOKING CLASS:

Here are some informations about how a cooking class usually works: I arrive at 8:30 am to go shopping together at the fresh food market in S. Ambrogio (the market is open only in the morning), then we go immediately back to the apartment to cook for lunch. The cooking class last untill 12:30 - 1:00 pm. The cost of the cooking class is 250 euros (in total and not for each person) and at the market you buy the ingredients we need.

Usually the menu consists in three different dishes: an appetizer; a main course and a dessert.

I can suggest a typical Tuscan menu such as: Crostini di fegatini (crostini with chicken liver paté); Crespelle alla fiorentina (Spinach and Ricotta filled crepes); Tiramisù

About claudia Morace

My name is Claudia Morace. I am 73.

I have a daughter, she is a pianist and two sons lawyers as my husband was.I have also eight grandchildren.

I love taking personally care of my house and of my apartments in Florence.

I love flowers, nature, people and life.

claudia Morace purchased this apartment in 2002

Why claudia Morace chose Duomo

I had to sell a wonderful family property dated 1880 in Austria.

Just to try to save money for my children, I decided to buy a small apartment in Florence.

I hope I was able to build a very special place where my guests could relax after a full day

sighseeing.

What makes this apartment unique

I think than better than me, some comments from the guest book, can describe the apartments.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Claudia

Sorry this has taken me so long to write. My testimonial is below

My husband and I were very fortunate to find Claudia's apartment on Borgo Pinti. The apartment is centrally located in the historic area and is walking distance from everything. We were pleasantly surprised by its accommodating size and design. The two bedrooms are both comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen is fully equipped and welcoming. The apartment has all necessary amenities including wifi and air conditioning which can be hard to find in the historic district.

Claudia did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable, including leaving us with a bowl full of fresh figs and almonds and pressed olive oil from her farm. I would highly recommend this lovely apartment and its even more charming owner.

We loved this unique, comfortable and very centrally located apartment. Claudia welcomed us like a member of the family, with gifts of fruit and delicious olive oil. Highly recommend this as a place to stay!

Perfect choice!

  • 5 of 5

Four of us, two couples, spent a week at Claudia's beautiful Florence apartment. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms worked perfectly for us. The apartment is located very centrally in Florence allowing us to walk to almost everything. It was so lovely to arrive and find coffee, milk, juice and fruit available. Claudia and Ketty helped us with directions to several local grocery outlets, both big and small to get a few more items for breakfast. It is 60 steps, four floors, to the apartment with no elevator so for anyone unable to carry their bags or repeatedly do that many stairs it would be a problem. Having no elevator and lots of stairs is common in Europe so always good to ask in advance. Claudia helped us arrange a driver for a day to visit Sienna, San Giomangi,, Tuscan countryside, and a winery. It was one of our favorite days! Brando was our driver and he was informative, personable and very kind, and spoke excellent English. We would recommend him highly. It was easy to work with Claudia to arrange our lodging and her referrals and recommendations for restaurants and activities was greatly appreciated. If we are back in Florence in the future we will definitely rent this apartment again and highly recommend it.

41 Borgo Pinti, Florence Italy

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Claudia's VRBO was excellent. The kitchen was well equipped, she had a full bookshelf of travel books, a mobile phone to use for local calls. She and her daughter Ketty were gracious hosts and extremely helpful with arranging a cab for an early morning departure and a side tour to Sienna. The Wi-fi was excellent. The washer and drying rack in the apartment meant we did not need to bring as much clothing (luggage), and she had plenty of European to American electrical adapters. The location is very close to restaurants and tourist attractions. I would book a stay there again in a heartbeat when we go to Florence again.

First Class: The Apartment and Claudia!

  • 5 of 5

It felt like we were meeting a relative for the first time and she wanted to make our stay memorable. Claudia was fabulous! The apartment is warm, comfortable & clean and the location is excellent.

Claudia went out of her way to welcome us with fruit, olive oil and other little things to get our stay started. She also arranged dinner reservations, a day trip and a taxi when we departed.

We had an amazing time in Florence with some great memories and will stay here when we visit again!

Thank you Claudia!!
