Woodstock's Brook Cottage: TOP-RATED streamside luxury, fireplace, walk-to-town!

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4

Welcome to Brook Cottage in Woodstock!

Your Woodstock “home away from home” is ideally located on a shared and secluded property at the end of a private lane, yet walking distance to the heart of the quaint and artsy village of Woodstock. You can walk to restaurants, cafes, galleries, boutiques, theaters and clubs ~ or just stay home and relax in front of a cozy fire in your living room gas fireplace with an exposed stone chimney, cathedral ceiling with skylights, and 2-story north-light windows with mountain views! Or you can snuggle by a fire in the cast-iron gas stove in the sunny south-facing kitchen/dining/TV room with a wall of glass overlooking a blue stone patio (with a gas grill and outdoor dining table), spacious lawn and year-round stream that flows through the back of the property and right past the cottage!

You can also enjoy views of the stream from the master bedroom in the upstairs sleeping loft (which features a sitting area, interior balcony overlooking the great room, and queen bed under a triangular-shaped window and ceiling skylights), as well as the downstairs second bedroom with a full bed and east-facing windows.

Prepare snacks and meals in your newly-remodeled and fully-equipped country kitchen with Caesarstone countertops, new appliances, and an ample pantry stocked with basic condiments.

Brook Cottage occupies the east wing of an authentic 1928 artist’s residence/studio that has been lovingly restored to include state-of-the-art systems, high-end appliances and modern amenities, while still retaining it’s authentic character and charm. Amenities include a high-efficiency washer/dryer, dishwasher, WIFI, Smart TV with cable service and internet access (for watching movies on Netflix, Amazon, etc.), AC, ceiling fans, remote controlled skylights with black-out shades, gas grill and thermostat-controlled gas fireplace and fire stove. An architect- designed and sound-proof wall separates Brook Cottage from the west wing of the building, which is occupied by Brook Cottage Too, a smaller vacation home.

Although Brook Cottage and Brook Cottage Too are totally separate and independent semi-detached rentals (with entrances and private patios on different sides of the building), which are each ideally suited for romantic getaways and personal retreats, they may also be rented together by groups of friends or extended family members who want to be together, while still maintaining their own private spaces. Please note that a 10% discount off the rental rate for both applies when Brook Cottage and Brook Cottage Too are jointly rented by one party.

NO CAR NECESSARY: Brook Cottage is easy walking distance to everything that Woodstock has to offer: restaurants, cafes, galleries, boutiques, theaters, clubs, live music, hiking trails, swimming holes, etc. In other words, you don't need a car! In fact, you can ride the Adirondack Trailways bus from NYC or NJ and arrive at the Woodstock Village Green (just a few blocks from Brook Cottage) in just two hours!

Exactly what we needed!!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is perfection- it was exactly what my fiancé and I were hoping for for our weekend escape. It’s clean, and cozy, with wonderful views of nature. It’s gorgeously decorated and has all the necessary creature comforts. And downtown is just a few minutes walk down the street, in case you decide you actually want to leave the confines of this magical place! We would have stayed longer if we could and we’ll absolutely be back!

Beautiful house and property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend in October and it was absolutely perfect. It was immaculately kept and the renovated kitchen was well done. Our dog got endless hours of entertainment watching the backyard squirrels from the cozy family room. The house was well-appointed and we did not hear the people’s staying at the property next door. We popped over to the bar and the ice cream shop since everything was walkable. We look forward to staying here again, soon!

Amazing house

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing place to spend Christmas. The fire kept the cottage so toasty warm and the view of the frozen stream in the back was outstanding. The various electric candles made the place feel so inviting. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with all the tools we needed for meal and sharp knives (which can be a rare find in rental homes). My only gripe was that it didn't have a DVD player (as advertised) so we couldn't watch our traditional round of Christmas movies we brought with us. Sitting by the fire with a nice glass of wine made up for it! We were sad to leave but we are already planning a summer stay.

Cozy Place!

  • 5 of 5

I had the pleasure of staying here for a weekend in November. The place is well appointed, charming and cozy. Judy was fantastic and met us at the house to show us how everything works. If you want to stay close to town, this is the place. It was chilly so we were mostly indoors but the backyard and the brook looked lovely. We never heard or saw the guests staying in the adjacent cottage. Very peaceful, quiet.... I would stay again.

This lovely, well appointed home had everything we needed. The place was spotless and the care by the owner was evident in every detail. I will definitely be renting it again!

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying here with friends for a long weekend. The cottage is cozy, but was spacious enough for four of us to have plenty or room to relax and enjoy our time. Very convenient location right in the heart of Woodstock. We would absolutely stay here again!

Car: not necessary

Woodstock is a historic and thriving arts community ideally located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountain Park, halfway between the spectacular high peaks to the west and the Hudson River valley to the east. You can explore the surrounding mountains by car or on foot/bike via scenic drives or an extensive network of hiking trails ~ many of which follow pristine mountain streams with waterfalls.

Discover why the natural beauty of this area inspired the 19th century romantic art movement known as the Hudson River School with it’s oversize panoramic landscape paintings, and why it has attracted such visionaries as the founders of the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony (the oldest operating arts + crafts colony in America), Maverick Concerts (the longest-running summer music festival), the Woodstock Sound-Outs of the 1960s, and of course the 1969 Woodstock Festival of Music + Art.

Woodstock continues to be a haven for artists, musicians, writers and spiritual seekers, as evidenced by the many galleries, studios, music venues, and monasteries in the region. As such, it is widely considered the cultural hub of the area.
