Charming Bacova Village Cottage Near Lake Moomaw

The village of Bacova (a contraction of Bath County Virginia) was built by the Tidewater Lumber Company to support its lumber mill operation n the 1920's and was later purchased by the founder of The Bacova Guild in the late 1950's. Now the charming residential neighborhood is filled with hard-working families, retirees, and vacationers, like you! Enjoy walking the quiet streets of the village, taking your children to the playground. chatting with neighbors, or heading out to explore the great outdoors in the beautiful Alleghany mountains.

This cozy two bedroom, one bath home is the perfect getaway spot for couples or small families! The cottage is pristinely clean and has everything needed to serve as home base for your Bath County adventure! There is a comfortable living room with a large screen SMART TV with ROKU. Be sure to bring your log-ins for your personal favorite streaming services like Netflix or Hulu. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking in and a gas grill in the backyard is available for cooking out! There is a laundry room available off the kitchen as well! The yard is large and flat for kids to run around and play and there is a fire pit in the yard for nights filled with stargazing and s'mores! Just down the back road of the cottage is small playground with swings, teeter-totters, slides, merry-go-round and more!

Bacova is just 5 minutes from Warm Springs, 10 minutes from Hot Springs and close to a full array of outdoor adventures - explore Lake Moomaw by boat, hike the trails in Hidden Valley, bike along the Jackson River Scenic Trail, swim in a hidden river hole at Blowing Springs, golf at the famed Omni Homestead Resort. There are wonderful restaurants nearby as well as a local cidery, brewery, and winery!

This cottage is pet friendly, welcoming dogs only. ($100 pet fee applies) There is a $100 cleaning fee in addition to the posted rental rates.

The check-in process was very simple. The directions to the location were excellent. We make all of our own meals and did not find anything lacking in the kitchen. The place was neat and had a very comfortable chair and couch in the living room. We would definitely stay there again. My one comment would be to check the water pressure in the shower.

Short but very pleasant get away over the 4th

Nice little cottage with all the amentities you need and a very responsive property manager. Very short drive to Lake Moomaw and any shopping or dining you desire. Lots of areas to explore. We make this an annual stop for a reason as our whole family to include our pups get a break from DC life.

Long Weekend in Bath County

We had a great long weekend in Bath County. We were traveling with a senior citizen with some mobility issues and it was just a few steps from the parking area to the door and just a couple of small steps to enter the house. We had four adults and two dogs on this trip and the house and location were great.

We really enjoy this cottage. It is our second stay here. We did have an issue with the coffee maker. For some reason we were unable to get it to work. Also we might suggest that you leave a full roll of tp for every stay.

Thank you! We love returning guests! Sallie has stayed with us many times over the years, twice at this location! However, we don't like to hear that anyone has any issues at the house, especially after they've left! We have staff available just a phone call away that can help with any issues at the house, troubleshoot appliance problems or bring a replacement! Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention - there is now a brand-new coffee maker with a drip coffee maker & k-cup combo!

Had a wonderful stay. Beth called the day before I was to arrive, explained I was arriving late and on my own. She advised me of the code to get in the door and left my packet at the home. Graciously, left extra lights on for me. The home was very clean as well as several items in the kitchen to use and bathroom was well stocked with towels.

Sweet stop over

We stayed in this sweet cottage on the way to a destination further south. It was lovely and has everything you will need for a couple of nights. The thoughtfulness to have of all the essentials provided made for an easy arrival. We were grateful for such a soft landing. This is a beautiful part of the country and offers a spectacular landscape and natural beauty. We spent a day at Lake Moomaw, it was peaceful, water so clear you can see to the bottom. People everywhere were friendly, hardworking, kind. AND you are very much in the rural south with confederate flags still prominent, whether in Bacova or along country roads. Thank you for a great stay.

The house was as described. Very clean, comfortable temperatures, etc.

Our major complaint was the queen size bed was as hard as a rock and made sleeping even with an extra foam pad very uncomfortable. Maybe that works for some, but it was the main reason we left a day early.
