Comfy and cozy

  • 5 of 5

We enjoy our stay at little red, perfect place for a weekend getaway or longer and this is a really pet friendly place. The place is clean and comfortable. And I must say I been using home away for our family vacation all over and a big kudos! To Maureen the place is really nice and this is the place we stayed so far that has everything I need to cook and lots of seasoning even measuring cups and spoons they have and a variety of pots and pans. Thank you Maureen for letting us stay to your rental.

Going Back

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week away from the hustle of the city. The bed I slept in was so comfortable. There is only 1 year-round resident on the street as this cabin, and I never saw him. The kitchen is well stocked, down to a blender and cheese grater! The fence around the back yard is secure, even for my 9 pound escape artist pup! Since this is a year round cabin, I plan to revisit it. It was very relaxing to sit out on the front porch to read an sip some coffee. The front porch is also pet safe, so she could run and bark at birds. Thanks Maureen for a good break. Oh, I almost forgot: there is a drive thru coffee place with a good menu. It is not open every day during the winter, but if you are there on Thursday, try the smoked meatloaf. Amazing.

Not what I expected- Outdated & rundown

  • 2 of 5

We've rented plenty of cabins all throughout AZ.

Pros: a nice king bed with plenty of pillows & blankets. A TV with Dish Satellite. Good hot water. Good enclosed yard for our dog. All hard surface floors - no carpet. The weather was perfect. Rooms have fans. Has dog bowls

Cons: It has a full kitchen but it's so crammed together it's not functional. The stove is blocked by the fridge that blocks the side exit door. The front deck would be awesome but it's dirty and has no tables for dinning and the ancient chairs are covered in 5 layers of dirt and every cushion is falling apart. The back yard has a picnic table with a hole burned thru it and is also unusable due to splintered wood. So we didn't enjoy coffee or meals outside. The other 'king bed' is two old twin beds pushed together. The cabin is decorated with lots of old country decor from the 90's including stuffed animals and fake plants - all covered in layers of dust (get rid of these) there is a high shelf in the bedroom where these country bunnies are brown from dust - Yuck. The bathroom rugs are old and yellowed which matches the bathroom. The 'bathtub' is miniature- the shower is permanently discolored from age and mildew. (Retile it) Toilet paper holder is falling off. 3 of 5 light bulbs in bathroom gone or burned out which still doesn't quite hide the cobwebs on the ceiling. The couch is cat scratched and the decorative pillows are ripped and stained - also yuck. This cabin looks like it was furnished from Good Will (except the TV) or a yard sale. I get that it's small but it could be quite easily be dressed up with nice furnishings. When we arrived there was already dog poop in the back yard. Also be careful with the handle lock - there is a key for each lock. We went for a walk and I locked the dead bolt but must have inadvertently locked the handle lock and were locked out. I called and texted the owner several times hoping the cleaning people could assist - waited hours for her to acknowledge- nothing - she never called back. So I paid a local locksmith to pick the handle lock. Not the owners fault but I at least expected a call back sometime within our stay. I suppose this dark, poorly lit old cabin would be fine for a weekend of 'turkey huntin' but as a retreat after a long day of hiking - not so much. In fact we stayed out of it as much as possible and left early on check out day.

- I'm confused by the reviews - they were all so good -

Owner's Response: Obviously this visitor was less than satisfied and I'm so sorry it didn't work out for her. This visit went downhill when the visitor locked herself out and couldn;t reach me right away. My phone was lost and couldn't reach anyone or receive any calls, They finally reached a locksmith who came out and let them in. We reimbursed her for that because she wasn't able to reach me. The kitchen is small but it is complete. This is a clean comfortable cabin, its not the HIlton, i't's a cabin to enjoy an affordable peaceful get away. Don't know about the light bulbs but sending someone in to check all of this out. I;m sorry she doesn't like the decor and as far as the top shelf, I don't know how she even got up there. It needs a ladder or maybe if you are tall you could get upon a chair. I will have the cleaning lady check that out. As far a torn items, we wil be checking that out this week too. Again I'm sorry this didn't work out for her. We are actively involved with our cabin and will be revisiting all of this.

Great small dog friendly cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend getaway at Little Red! Very homey and comfortable and a great location. The best thing for us about this cabin was that it is 100% small dog friendly. Every nook and cranny was fenced and safe for our two very small 8 pound dogs to enjoy the yard safely. We will definitely be back :)
