About this property

Haliburton Highlands Cottage with Lake Access and private dock!

Cozy cottage in Wilberforce on half acre property - so much room for activities! Fully equipped kitchen, large dining table, living room, two bedrooms, and a full washroom with claw foot tub. BBQ on the side porch, bonfire pit in front yard, and private dock across the road on Wilbermere Lake with canoe! A public beach area is also nearby.

Perfect city getaway, only 2.5 hours from Toronto and 3 hours from Ottawa.

Located in Haliburton County and only 25 minutes from Haliburton & Bancroft.

The primary bedroom has a queen-sized bed, the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a double mattress on the bottom, and a twin mattress on the top.

The Cottage is on well water and has a septic tank. The well water is filtered and safe for drinking, but doesn't taste the best. Some drinking water is provided and you can refill jugs in town.

There is a propane BBQ on the porch for your use and all the BBQ tools inside the cottage. The BBQ was upgraded in September, 2023!

The large bonfire pit in the front yard is great for outdoor cooking, and marshmallow roasting. FIREWOOD IS NOT PROVIDED, but can be purchased in Wilberforce at either the Foodland or Agnew's general store. Please check and follow any fire restrictions - the fire station has a sign out front.

A key-less entry pad is on the door for easy check-in and check-out. Times are flexible, just ask if you need special accommodations.

There is a canoe on site for guest use with two paddles and life jackets.

Bring your kayaks or floaties to enjoy the gorgeous lake. There is a boat launch on Wilbermere Lake if you have your own motor boat.

You'll have full access to the cottage, including the private dock on Wilbermere Lake. The only thing off limits is one small closet where I store personal items. An extensive collection of classic board games are on site.

The cottage is on a B-highway with an 70 km/h speed limit. Traffic is intermittent and you can safely cross to the dock or swimming area quite easily. Please note that you'll need to go over a guard rail and down a set of stairs to access the dock. If you have reduced mobility, or small children and prefer to walk into the water, there is a public swimming area very close by. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Pets are not permitted, please leave them home with a friend.

The living room has a small TV with DVD player, along with a few DVDs and HDMI cable to connect your laptop, if desired. There is no cable or satellite TV on site.

Cottage is equipped with 50 Mbps wifi.

This is my home away from home, please treat it with respect and leave it as you found it.

Please note that towels and bedding are not supplied. You'll need to bring your own shower and swimming towels, sheets, blankets/duvets, and pillows. A bath mat, hand towels, kitchen towels and dish cloth are provided. Due to the high iron content of the lake, staining is possible. To avoid any disappointment, do not bring any light coloured towels or swimsuits with you

The Coral Door Cottage Experience
My girlfriend and I truly had an amazing experience staying at Andrea's home away from home. Upon arrival of the property, we were welcomed by a nice large firepit with 4 Muskoka chairs facing the great view of Wilbermere Lake. As we entered the coral door, we were very impressed with details and creativity implemented to make the place very warm and comfortable. The pictures on the listing are exactly as is, but somehow are more impressive in person. There were 2 bedrooms, one with a comfortable queen bed and a bunk bed in the other room. This would be great place for a family with two kids. The living space with the beautiful blue comfy couch is a perfect place to hang out. There were numerous classic board games, a great variety of CDs available and even a little TV that can be connected to a streaming service. The kitchen had everything one would need. The place is not the biggest, but I don't think it will have the same comfortable feel to if it was larger. It is perfect with everything one needs for spending time at the cottage. We didn't use the bbq grill as we cooked over the fire (bring your own firewood+grill). We did spend a majority of the time outside. The personal dock across the street had 2 foldable Muskoka chairs that were great for basking in the sun and a 15' canoe to travel the lake. The lake is great to dive and swim in. Fishing is decent, caught some small mouth bass. FYI sunrises are great from the dock. We would definitely come back.

Great cottage!
Stayed here for 3 nights with my partner and my 5 year old son. Cottage was cozy and well appointed. Really nice private property. Amazingly quiet and dark at night - Just what we wanted as a city break. Access to private dock across the road was fantastic and the super close walk to the neighbourhood beach was really great, my son loved it. Only drawback was the bbq at the cottage, I was told it was “finicky” but it was actually rusted out and unusable which was a huge disappointment. If you like to cook I’d enquire about it. Also, I didnt look closely enough at the photos to see the bedrooms have curtains instead of doors. Was difficult at night to put the kid to bed and still be in the living room or kitchen. Regardless it’s a great cottage. Thanks for having us.

I moved from Toronto to the Bancroft area in 2020 (a classic covid story). I'm an experienced traveller who loves a good adventure and when I'm not exploring new places. My cottage is my home away from home and while I enjoy sharing my space, I expect my guests to treat it with respect.

Why they chose this property

Wilberforce is a one-stop-sign town, but covers all the basics: Foodland grocery store, LCBO, Agnew's general store, and a diner. The general store truly has anything you could possibly need, including scooped Kawartha Dairy ice cream! I usually spend my days on the water. Wilbermere Lake is smaller and great for exploring in a canoe, kayak, or SUP. There are two small rivers that branch off and are accessible when water levels allow.

What makes this property unique

I often describe my space as an anti-cottage, cottage. It doesn't have your typical wooden walls and old dingy, dusty furniture. It's bright and colourful, filled with classic board games and artwork collected throughout my travels. The cottage is small, but comfortable and I've kept guests in mind with the open-storage kitchen and bedroom shelving, and large bathroom drawers. Outside, the large firepit is perfect for evening s'more sessions. Across the road, the private dock is the perfect for spending an afternoon jumping in and out of the lake, or floating around.
