Your well-behaved dog is welcome to stay at the Hideaway and enjoy this incredible beach with you. ($50 pet fee) Dog throws, bed, and bowls are provided. Please launder/wash all dog items for the next guests.
There are some canine rules, to help the Hideaway remain clean and pleasant for all guests. Dogs MUST BE RELIABLY HOUSEBROKEN and may NOT be on the furniture and bedding. They MAY NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED in the Hideaway unless they are in a kennel crate. (Sorry to say, but not everyone has been considerate, so this paragraph had to be expanded.) Lincoln County ordinances require people to keep their dogs on leash and to clean up and dispose of feces.

I am a 4th generation Oregonian, transplanted after college years to the Midwest and the Deep South. My homing instinct, however, was strong and persistent, and it brought me back to Oregon.
Barbara purchased this house in 2007
The Coast has a special mystique. No matter what time of year, no matter the weather, there is always something to see and to do. The dynamic Pacific Ocean is as mesmerizing during a crashing winter storm as it is on a sunny, summer day. There is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the surf, whether it is a quiet murmur or an elemental, booming force.
My vacation property is a special place where I can go and have everything I need to be comfortable, prepare meals, and have guests. It is in a quiet, traditionally 'beachy' neighborhood of individually owned homes that reflect the different decades during which people came for a relaxing, coastal lifestyle. There is reviving joy in beachcombing, agate-hunting, reading, working a jigsaw puzzle, and even snuggling in for a mid-day nap.
We rented Hideway for 30 days to explore the area and we were thrilled with our choice. We had no idea Gleneden beach was so private as the result of being quiet and off the beaten path. It was so close to Lincoln City and Depot Bay and a short drive to Newport. Hideaway itself was comfortable, clean and just the right size. One bedroom in the main house and then the studio offered a pull out sofa. Our guests did not utilize the loft as the stairs were a little steep, like a ladder, but it would be perfect for younger folks. We can't express enough how after exploring the area almost daily, we loved returning to this neighborhood and realized it was the neighborhood quality we enjoyed. Everyone was so friendly and our dogs loved the walks everyday as did we. The beach was so close it made up for not having an ocean view. With the windows open you hear the waves crashing into shore. If you stay here, it's for the long walks, the solitude and the friendliness of those around you. It's for the convenience of amenities close by and for the being fully plugged in if you want (i.e. satellite TV, internet). We would stay here again.
Suprised at just how small this rental was when seen. The until is in need of a deep cleaning, repair and updating. It had a "for Sale' sign out front. It did put a roof over our heads for a rainy weekend and is close to the beach. Because of 'Cycle Oregon' taking over all available rentals in the Newport to Lincoln city area, this was really the only option we had to consider. We had a work weekend scheduled for our own property, with equipment and labor, and could not change the date of our visit.
As always, we had another great time at the beach house at Gleneden Beach House. Barbara allowed us to check in early, due the fact that no one had rented it the previous night. We hope that if the property sells, the new owners will keep it as a rental home on VRBO!
Everything was as described. It was great having so many dishes to choose from (I brought some of my own, not sure what was there - but didn't need to use any of mine! There was even a blender!)
It was a really nice walk to the beach and we even heard whales on our last night there! Amazing!!! It was wonderful to go to sleep every night with the sound of the waves.
The neighborhood was lovely and friendly - everyone waved when I drove down the street, as if I lived there! I felt very welcomed! The grocery store is only 5 short minutes away, with great, friendly staff.
Listing was accurate, property was clean, lots of reading material, kids loved the beach. I like the location in a small quiet community but a short drive to the larger town which was large enough to have most of what you need for supplies, but too many tourists for my taste. I met some of the people who lived there while walking on the beach and they were very helpful in pointing out points of interest.
Was nice and clean. Did not use half of the house because just 3 of us. My wife, and small dog. 1 block from beach and close to Salishan Resort. Depot Bay has a great restaurant that we went to several times. Tidal Raves Seafood Grill was so good, moderate prices and great ocean views.
The Beach is two short blocks away and has low, easy, public access. It is a beautiful beach with very few people on it for private walks, especially as you walk north along the shore. Very good beach for agate hunting, sunset watching, and star gazing. Salishan Golf Course, Resort, Spa, Shops, & Siletz Municipal Airport are within about 0.5-1 mile to the northeast. Gleneden Beach State Recreation Area is a few blocks to the south, a nice place to look for whales, make S'mores, & watch the sun set over the sea! Property is ideally located for sightseeing forays along the scenic Central Oregon coast, souvenir and gallery shopping, many excellent small restaurants. Try your hand at crabbing from shore in Siletz Bay, watch the seals & occasional windsurfers. Blow your own glass float. Charter fishing and crabbing out of Depoe Bay (4 miles away) or Newport (18 miles away).
