4/10/18 You will see from our most recent guest reviews that they completely debunked the review Ms. D. wrote about our condo. There are people in this world who just love to complain about anything and everything. 80 five star guest reviews and then a ridiculous clunker. Enough said about this.
SPECIAL NOTE 1: For our Beach condo GUESTS .......FREE in condo wireless internet service. We recognize our guests need to have a computer/cell wireless signal inside our condo, so we have added this amenity and a Blu Ray DVD player too ! Also, there are beach chairs and umbrella Plus a 12 pack size hard sided cooler for your pool, beach or picnic use.
SPECIAL NOTE 2: We remodeled our condo several years ago. We replaced all kitchen cabinets with clean white foil laminate cabinets, installed a deep double bowl black granite sink, nice tile backsplash and also installed a new stove and refrigerator, We also replaced our old entertainment cabinet with a new modern tapes and book storage cabinet and installed a new wall mount 37' Toshiba flatscreen TV. Further, we replaced our King bedroom furniture with a White Cottage set and also installed great looking'Mississippi Pine' wood laminate flooring in the bedroom. NO dirt catching carpeting remains in our condo. Additionally, our Heavy Duty Hurricane rated Turtle Tint windows and 9' slider door not only provides more safety, but more comfort for our condo guests as well. Our NEWER AC now cools faster and better.
SPECIAL NOTE 3: IF you have a smoker in your party, PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST A RESERVATION. We have found that even if people promise to not smoke in our condo, their clothes and bodies carry tobacco smells into the condo, on the furniture, in the closet and on the bedding. Then when they are charged to have the condo defumigated, they pitch a cow. We do not want smokers staying in our condo, so please just move on to other condos to rent. Our guests' satisfaction is primary for us and they do not want their rentals smelling like ashtrays. Thank you.
You expect to see GREAT VIEWS from a Penthouse level beachside condo and you will get them Big Time from our place. We have a number of e-referrals we can share attesting to the Fabulous Views you will experience 'On Top'. Beware: there are many condos in our complex which have very poor and low unappealing parking lot views. You're going on Vacation, right? You deserve to be able to say WOW !!!!!!!!! when you lease a beachside vacation condo. You will LOVE our Fort Myers Beach Penthouse condo views !!
SPECIAL NOTE 4: Our condo is a NO SMOKING and NO PETS vacation destination. This means than ANY indication of tobacco use/smell in the condo and any indication that one or more pets were in the condo may result in part or all of guests deposits being with-held in order to clean and defumigate the condo. 99% of our guests do not want to encounter tobacco smells and/or pet related smells and hair shedding in the condos they secure for their vacations. We had a guest who swore up and down that her husband did not smoke in the condo..........only doing so on the balcony. Weather they left the door open or not while he smoked, people who smoke most generally drag the odors around with them on their clothes and bodies. When our cleaner and 2 others, not affiliated or related to her, certified that the condo smelled of strong smoke odor and she had to spend parts of 3 days defumigating it.......cleaning the furniture, walls and floors and washing bedding and linens......that information was good enough for us to with-hold her deposit. Should the cost to clean and de-fumigate the condo to rid it of tobacco or pet "leave behinds" not be covered by deposits made, we will request that additional monies be sent to us so we can properly compensate our cleaner for her services. This Penthouse-level (14th floor) condo is situated on the Gulf of Mexico with fabulous views of Estero Bay, Naples, and Sanibel Island from the covered balcony. This one bedroom condo features a very comfortable king-size bed as well as a Lazy Boy queen sleeper sofa & a Scandinavian leather recliner with foot stool in the living room. Beautiful porcelain tile was installed in the 'Diamond' pattern on all floors except in the bedroom.
The Kitchen is fully-equipped to include dishware and cutlery, fridge, range, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and blender. Towels/linens are provided (see amenities below). Just bring your own beach towels! There is a huge geothermally heated pool with spacious sun deck. There is also a large grassy area for additional crowd-free sunning or sports activities.
4-5 Restaurants, a CVS drug store and marina are just across the street. The beach trolley is only 25 cents and will take you from one end of the beach to the other and to Fort Myers for additional shopping or dining. There are two Supermarkets on the island. There is a Catholic Church & several Protestant Churches just up the street.
Enjoy four, well manicured (free) clay tennis courts on property at this prestigious private Beach and Tennis Club. Cook out on the free gas grills near the floor shuffleboards. From your balcony, view dolphins playing and jumping in the surf. There are also many species of colorful birds to see such as pelicans, egrets, osprey, and herons. NOTE: Please notice the difference between the views of our Penthouse unit and lower floor units also advertised in VRBO. While lounging on the balcony, you will not look out directly onto the unsightly WEEDS of the Sandbar. Our guests comment on this all the time. This is an important point to make.
Take early morning, afternoon, or sunset walks on the pure white sugar powder sand of this most beautiful beach. Stop in one of the many varied beachfront restaurants all along the boulevard. Enjoy dining or cocktails on their gulfside decks overlooking the beach. Beach sunsets are too beautiful to describe!
Our rates are generally lower than most all others at this tropical paradise. Repeat guests are guaranteed the same rates for at least two years!! Also, any rental referrals you provide us will earn you rent credits for your own future rentals.
Whether you desire a romantic get-away, a small family beach vacation, or are a retired couple looking for peace and serenity, you will find that you will fall in love with this little bit of heaven and want to return year after year.
There is something for everyone. Hunt shells on the beach, play golf or tennis, swim in the Gulf of Mexico, or just 'veg out' at the huge heated pool. One of our favorite things to do is to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the covered balcony just taking in the gorgeous beach sights and sunsets. You can also rent beach chairs, umbrellas, 2 person hood shade lounges w/cushions right on the beach behind the Wyndham Hotel. The Wyndham is just a short 4-5 minute walk up the beach behind the condo. Their Pinchers Grill is a great outdoor Tiki Bar which serves beer, mixed drinks and food. They often offer live entertainment. There are also a number of good restaurants and bars right across the street in Santini Plaza as well.

We have owned our Penthouse level condo for many years and many of our guests return year after year. We do our best to satisy our guests. Our caretaker/cleaner is Sue and she is happy to assist if there is any problem whatsoever. We aim to please. Understand that our out the door price quotes include rent, tax, exit cleaning and start up toiletry supplies.

Excellent efficiency condominium with spectacular 270 degree views of the gulf and bays.
The condominium is perfect for a couple looking to get away! It has everything that you need for a relaxing vacation. We spent every morning drinking coffee on the balcony looking at the sea birds and osprey after a sound sleep in the very comfortable king size bed. We even saw dolphin a few mornings! The beach is within walking distance, just beyond the
crystal clear pool. The condo has been supplied with two beach chairs, two nice beach umbrellas, a small cooler, floats, and sand toys. We loved that the beach did not have the craziness of the north end of the island, yet we could walk to Pinchers Tiki Bar at the Wyndham and have a cold adult beverage! If you want a cool one on the beach, I would bring your own coozies or traveler! If you are into tennis, the courts are clay and are maintained several times throughout the day. We watched many a game being played from our balcony!
We ate a few times at the Sandbar across the street and enjoyed all of the food. Tuesday mornings has a farmers market where we were able to purchase baked goods and cheeses from local vendors. If you are brave enough to tackle the traffic, Times Square has a lot to do in the evening. Bands, dancing, and outdoor bars can be enjoyed. I would recommend renting bikes to get around easier. We rented a pontoon for the day in Bonita Springs and enjoyed the water and the beaches. We saw a variety of sea life while on the trip.
Bob was very attentive and informative, giving us several suggestions of his favorite things to do on the island. I would highly recommend working with Bob!
We have stayed at Estero Beach & Tennis Club many times, and we've rented some beautiful condos. This is also a nice condo and tastefully decorated. Kitchen has very limited counter space, although the recent addition of a dinette set is helpful for preparing meals. Read the description carefully, as there is no dishwasher. If this is important to you, take note. The dishes are a mismatch of various sets, and the knife set is very dull (couldn’t cut through the skin of a green pepper). There were no barbecuing tools, although, upon suggestion, the owner said he would get some soon. The bathroom is in need of an upgrade as far as the cabinet and shower faucets/knobs. Everything else is comfortable and maintained. The view is pretty. If you stand on the very end of the balcony, you can enjoy the sunsets. Communication with the owner was good. Response time was quick.
The one thing we were taken back by was the owner’s email after our visit. He stated, “I will rate you 5 stars as a guest when VRBO sends me the request to rate. Will appreciate your doing the same. IF you don't feel you can do this, please just skip writing the review. We will be putting the condo up for sale in the fall and don't need any negativity attached to it.”
This does not seem to be in the best interest of future customers. The reviews are for the benefit of those considering renting the property. It is only fair that potential renters have honest reviews that are not influenced by the owner’s need for 5-star ratings.
Thank you for your review Mary. It was nice of you to mention that our condo was nice, comfortable and is tastefully decorated. I have some comments pertaining to a few points you made. Thank you for your suggestion about adding a grilling set. Our caretaker will do this. We just left the condo the day before you arrived and made sure it was in great condition. We repainted the walls a lighter beige color, replaced the kitchen table and chairs with a nice new high top set, added a new microwave/toaster/kitchen appliances utility cart, installed a nice new 5 bulb kitchen table light w/LED bulbs and refreshed all of the linens and towels, plus a new comforter, pillows and dust mite protective pillow covers and mattress pad. Our ad specifies there is NO dishwasher, just like 90% of all the EBT condos in the complex as installing dishwashers would mean a total re-do of the small kitchen area. Instead, we installed a great 11" deep double bowl granite sink as the space was made from installing a new 20" 4 burner stove/oven in place of the standard size 30" range. Not having a dishwasher has been a non issue for our guests over these many years for short stays. There are TWO nice Correlle dish sets (8 each of all items. Most everyone includes only 4 of each item, so I question this comment as well as sharp knives. You must have missed the 8 very sharp matching steak knives in the cutlery drawer. Regarding food prep, the area to the side of the sink in front of the coffee maker is about 18" wide. We provide several sizes of cutting boards and we have received many comments that this area is good for preparing meals for 2 people. Our NEW wood top dinette table is not where meals should be prepped. I am sorry that the shower knobs did not meet your taste. They are only 2 years old. They work well and don't leak. Yes, I asked for a 5 star review as I gave you one. ALL owners are concerned about guests' reviews mostly because different tastes come into play. I can only point to our approx. 80-5 star guest reviews where peoples' expectations were reasonable and were not nit picky about small things, which everyone can find if they look hard enough. VRBO indeed penalizes owners who don't receive 5 Star guest reviews and many owners do indeed ask departing guests to rate their stays 5 stars. Yes, we will be selling the condo next winter as I told you my left lung was recently removed and at 70, my wife and are scaling back on our rental properties. BG
Met our needs for relaxation!
We very much enjoyed our stay and loved that this property was on the south end of Fort Myers/Estero Beach away from the crazy traffic and potential party scene. We literally walked across the street to take a sunset dolphin cruise (saw 7!), walked a block to CVS and, ate at several great dining places!! The King size bed was one of the best we have slept on away from home as it was not too hard and not too soft (obviously not everyone will have the same preferences but bottom line-it didn’t sink in the middle and didn’t give us the creeps!). The shower pressure was good, the kitchen area was sufficient, and the unit was VERY CLEAN. Bob had informed us prior to our arrival that he planned to do some updates the week after our stay. While we found it met our needs [we could care less about the quality of dishes—they were clean and held food and drink!], Bob sent us photos of the updates he did the day after we left. The new dining room set and overhead light look great and the fresh paint really brightens up the place. He reports he plans to update the bath vanity, Condo curtains, couch and, recliner. A new couch and recliner will be
lovely but we didn’t have any complaints about them—I have yet to see an awesome fold out couch mattress anywhere but, our 6 year old didn’t mind and slept great all week. We can’t wait to see photos of the additional updates! What we appreciated the most were the beach umbrella and chairs in the entryway closet and, his letter prior to our arrival that gave us great dining and transportation tips. If you are looking for fancy granite and a large living space/bathroom to accommodate more than 2 adults for a week, this would not be for you but it certainly met our need for relaxation and sun! Oh, and I must not forget the HEATED pool that is right outside the building!! It truly was heated to 85 degrees—which meant even though our first day there was only 65 degrees outside, we still swam! When the weather warmed up later in the week the pool person actually had to turn the temperature of the water down a bit :-) ! The ocean is just steps away
and to hear and see the waves from the balcony was what this midwestern family needed! I would absolutely stay in this unit again.
Keri. We very much appreciate your very nice 5 star guest review. Mostly, you give credence to the 78 other 5 star guest reviews we have received and threw cold water on the ridiculous review Sheila D. wrote in January. There are people in life who just can't seem to be happy. It was evident to a number of our past guests, who contacted us after seeing her ranting, that she was way off base. When people complain about a 40 watt bulb and a dish which did not match others.....one knows there is cookiness involved. My wife and I stayed at Bob's condo last week and I must say after reading review dated 1/27 (I can't remember name so I'll refer to her as AB) I thought we were in wrong unit when we walked in. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to write such a misleading review full of untruths is hard to believe and not fair to Bob. I'd like to address a few of them.
First of all, there is absolutely nothing misleading about pictures. My wife and I have stayed in many condos all over Florida and in our opinion Bob's has the most spectacular views! Not only view of gulf, but view of bay. Direct gulf view condos are great, but when it's dark not much to see. The bay view from Bob's balcony at night is incredible! Clear view of Bonita Springs and Naples. If you're having coffee in the morning and want to view the gulf, simply turn chair (or head) to the right and you unobstructed and fantastic gulf and beach views. Both sunrise and sunset views. Not many condos offer that! The window in VRBO ad looks directly at the gulf. Nothing misleading there. AB makes ridiculous claim about shower head not working properly (had to have hair shampooed across the street). We had no issues with shower head or water pressure. As a matter of fact, my sister stayed in building on fourth floor (Bob's is in building A), her water pressure was same as ours. Never had to flush toilet more than once (could be a diet issue there). AB complained about wifi and tv issues. We had no problems with either. Condo is very nice with plenty of room and storage. Very clean, definitely not shabby as AB states. Nice kitchen (enough prep space for us). living area, bedroom, and bath. One TV is enough for us, especially since you can view from bed! With all of the updates Bob has planned for next month, condo will be even better! I guess it all comes down to what you want in a vacation condo. If you're like me and want a fantastic beach experience - nice, clean, comfortable condo, great restaurants (5-6 directly across the street), beautiful beach with tons of shells, nice pool, couple grilling areas, friendly people from all over the country, daily dolphin sightings, and spectacular views, than Bob's is the place for you. If not, maybe you could hang out with AB!
Oh, by the way, weather 101. If it's windy on the beach, it's gonna be windy on balcony of penthouse of building. We had several calm days and nights on balcony!
Chris: We much appreciate your honest and flattering review of our condo. Mostly, we thank you for your countering remarks to Ms. D's dishonest review of our condo. You and 75 people before her who gave our condo 5 Star reviews are obviously knowledgeable folks about what is reasonable to expect in a beach rental condo. Any reasonable person who reads Ms. D's "review" should readily see that it was over the top ridiculous. It is a shame that some people seem to enjoy complaining about many things in life.......even making things up thinking to themselves, "what else negative can I say?". Two guests before you, who are "regulars" at our condo, also called me to tell me how mad they were to read Ms. D's review. They can not write reviews on this site because they did not go through the VRBO system.....which is understandable I suppose.

We are writing this review in such detail because Bob sent us the above email and said don’t write anything if you can’t give a 5 star recommendation. We think that’s not right. That people should know what they’re walking into.
In our opinions, this place was seriously misrepresented. It was so bad, we didn’t stay in the condo for the first week of our two week stay. We rented ANOTHER condo on the same floor that was up to date, clean, well equipped, and offered the experience we thought we were paying for with Bob.
Bob’s condo appears to not have been updated in the last decade, in our opinion. A neighbor said the bathroom vanity and the closet doors were original to the building. The bathroom had no storage, the toilet frequently needed two flushes to clear, and the tub/shower had no grab bars. The shower head was so bad that I went to the strip mall across the street to get my hair shampooed.
The kitchen did not have a dishwasher, any storage for food items, and was furnished with odds and ends for dishes, glasses and silverware. I couldn’t cook in the kitchen, because there was no counter space for prep.
The living room was also shabby. The sofa’s reading light was a swag light with a 40 watt bulb. The out of date magazines on the lower shelf of the coffee table were coated with a thick layer of sand and dust. The ONLY TV in the unit was on the living room wall, with weak cable signal. The internet service was also not up to par, in our opinion. We had to go out and buy a portable wireless connection just to answer business emails.
The bedroom was also shabby. Only one small closet, filled with bedding and a utility cart. Old tired pillows bedding. And there were dirty clothes from a previous renter in the dresser drawers. A TV in the bedroom would have been nice.
The biggest drawback to us was the view. We like to sit and read on the balcony and watch the surf. The main picture of the VRBO ad is NOT what we viewed from our balcony. This condo is a corner unit with a partial gulf view and high winds due to it being on the top floor.
We just now read the ONLY OTHER negative review posted on the VRBO website. We are writing 7 years later with the same complaints. HILARIOUS.
WOW......Our info. paperwork advises our guests to contact me or our cleaner if there is anything out of place when they arrive and we will do our best to make it right. The only contact we had from guest was a phone call from her the day she arrived or the day after. Her concern was to help her husband get onto our wi fi system.....which I did. She thanked me and hung up. NOT a word of dissatisfaction came from her, nor did she seem irritated. If anyone reads our 75 very positive guest reviews, you will see that this guest review is diametrically opposed to what others think about our condo. There are no perfect rental condos, but this is ridiculous. I think most people understand that there are some people who are not happy with many things and tend to "pile on" with complaints, thinking of anything possible to complain about, right or wrong. I, and many owners, always ask guests for 5 Star reviews as VRBO penalizes owners with listing positions if their reviews are not 5 star. We do not twist peoples arms or bug them for reviews. Here are some guest emails we received from recent guests about our condo. I will note ** on returning guests comments. Obviously, they must have been very happy with their stays at our condo. Ours is not a Taj Mahal, but obviously it is well liked by 99%.

An Excellent Condominium on the Beach
Bob's condo is certainly a five star property. This unit is one of the best units we have stayed in. I was taken aback by the review written by another traveler, who stayed in Bob's unit starting on 12/30. I see no correlation between what was said and my experience. That review bore no resemblance to reality and what we experienced.
I look forward to staying in this unit next winter.
Wayne: Thank you very much for your nice 5 star guest review. Yours is the second 5 Star review we have received since the ridiculous review from Ms. D. We have had several recent past guests call to tell us that they too will be writing 5 star reviews for us as they were stunned by Ms. Ds review. We owners always try to provide our guests with the best possible condo experiences. Sometimes but not often, a cleaning issue arises. We send our guests an info. sheet with the key. It tells them to contact our cleaner/caretaker if they have any concerns about the condo after entering. Cleaners are human beings. Sue is Johnny on the spot and will react fast if and when someone contacts her about something which needs attention. On the furnishings side, there are always things which need to be replaced/updated. This does not mean that the furnishings there now are not good, just that it is time for a different look. A few years ago, we replaced our kitchen cabinets, stove, entertainment cabinet and bedroom set. These items were in good shape, they just needed to be updated. Next month we will be repainting the walls, replacing the kitchen bar table and chairs and bath towel racks because we want a new look for them. We will also be bringing some new linens, pillows, sheets, towels and a bed comforter. This summer, we will be replacing the bath vanity cabinet and sink top and probably install a 50" SMART TV too. Again, these items are not in bad shape, we just want to try to stay ahead of things re: freshening the condo up. OUR CANCELLATION POLICY IS AS FOLLOWS: 75% refunded if reservation is cancelled in writing 60 or more days before occupancy date 50% refunded if reservation is cancelled in writing 45 to 59 days before occupancy date NO refund will be extended if reservation is cancelled in writing 44 or fewer days before occupancy Owner strongly suggests that guests obtain Travel Insurance when reservations are made in case cancellations are necessary. It is the guests responsibility to do this and owner has no responsibility to return or authorize return of rents already paid should guests need to cancel. Owner may be able suggest 1-2 Travel Insurance companies. T.I. Rates are very reasonable.
