Hedgehog Harbor House is the perfect place for a family vacation or a couples' retreat. Here, you are far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Door County to revel in the peace and quiet of Gills Rock, yet close enough to easily access great outdoor recreation, dining, arts and culture. Relax on the front deck with a view of Hedgehog Harbor, and enjoy the morning sun on the white birches from the back patio. Warm up on chilly spring and autumn evenings by the fireplace, or sit around the fire-pit gazing at the stars. There's plenty of room on the lower level for the kids to spread out and play games, a loft with a view for readers to cozy up with a book, and a three season room to play cards. Whether you're into biking, hiking, water sports, sightseeing, shopping -- or just wanting to come to Northern Door for its wonderful restorative nature, this is the place to be. You'll quickly discover why we call our little piece of Gills Rock the "relaxation zone."

It was a great space! Having the four bedrooms and three bathrooms, open concept kitchen and living area were wonderful! Walking distance to shops and parks was perfect. It was a fantastic Labor Day weekend with the family and weather couldn’t have been more perfect.

Perfect relaxing vacation home

The home is beautiful and well appointed. Our family of 7 had all the room we needed. Our favorite part of this property was the fire pit in the back. It was far enough to have peace and quiet and close enough to all of the activities of the towns. My personal favorite part of this home were the windows with sunlight streaming in from all angles! Thanks for a wonderful vacation for our family! We will be back!

Great house

This is a great house for a family vacation. 2-story vault ceiling allows a Great Lake view. The house is well layout and very clean. It is in a very quiet section of Gills Rock by the water. We had a nice bonfire and enjoyed each other’s company.

Beautiful Base Camp for Door County

Beautiful location and beautiful home for a getaway for a large group! We spent a long weekend here and it was a perfect spot to end the night with a fire after exploring the local Bay Towns.

Great Space

We had plenty of space in the house to gather & to find peace & quiet. We enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace on these cool October days. Loved the quiet location close to Washington island ferry & north end restaurants. Really loved the gorgeous Night Sky! Thank you.

Deaths Door Adventures

Very nice accommodations surrounded by the wonders of nature and good neighbors. The lake to the front and perfect fall colors in the back. Door County offers much to the excited visitors wanting to get away from the current chaos.

Family Getaway

My husband and I and our two adult daughters and their spouses and our three grandchildren stayed for the weekend…house was great with plenty of room. Location was lovely and we had great weather..would definitely stay again

Great place for a family gathering

Spacious, clean, lots of room with separate spacing of bedrooms that allow some distance even though we were a large group. Clean, lots of natural light. Nice indoor fireplace worked well without smoking out the home. Lots of deck space, nice fire pit in the back. Great stargazing!

Beautiful Spacious Home - Great Views

Our family loved this home and location - they did not want to go home. The house is beautiful - spacious and well appointed. The home offers great places to gather inside and out - and has quiet lovely spots to read a book or take a nap. Although not on the water the water is always in sight. The location is in quiet Gills Rock - nestled within a charming vintage fishing village. Walk to the little town that offers the Shoreline Restaurant - Charlie’s for fresh smoked fish - great ice cream and boat tours. There are charming boutique shops as well. Within a short drive is Ellison Bay and Sister Bay - towns that offer more restaurants - Seaquest Orchid - Al Johnson’s Restaurant famous for the goats on the roof - as well as a stunning marina - putt putt golf - a go cart track - and more unique little boutiques. The rest of Door County is all within easy driving distance. We live in Door County - our family was visiting - they took home with them memories to last a lifetime - along with some delicious home made preserves from Koepsel’s farm stand and Bea’s Ho -Made - and the best home made trail mix and granola from Kick Ash Coffee Shop. Everywhere you go you will find spectacular views and places to relax and have fun - with wonderful family owned stores and restaurants that are each unique and special in there own way. There is no place like Door County. And this is a great place to call home while visiting.

Enough space for an extended family

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The highlights of the property include the front deck overlooking the bay, the relatively wind guarded fire pit in the back, and the dark sky to view the stars. It’s an okay place for a dog, but if the dog needs daily activity, plan on driving to walk in one of the state or county parks. The road the house is on is okay for short walks, but the curves make it a bit challenging to see oncoming traffic. The beds are newer, but very firm. The only memory foam mattress is on the main level. The owners stayed in the cottage on the property while we visited. They are friendly and welcoming.

Large, wonderful Cottage at the lake

This family group of six adults and two children enjoyed two weeks in this very comfortable, well equipped a-frame lake view cottage. The owners have equipped this home with all the equipment and furniture to make it a place we would return to. The owners were very responsive to any questions that we sent their way, and they were eager to resolve any problems.

Annual June Door County Girls Get-Away

We are a female family group -- sisters, nieces, sister-in-law, cousins -- who have for the last 20+ years gather in June for a week in Door County. This house met every need. Big, spacious, 3 bathrooms, quiet areas, gathering areas. Beautiful setting with an outdoor patio, fire pit, huge front deck to view the water. It's located outside the busy life of Door Cty but close enough to enjoy shopping, restaurants.
