The cottage was exactly what we needed for our Cooperstown stay. Location was perfect. Not over the top fancy, but gave us all we wanted and needed after our long days at the baseball field. Super close to store and gas station for those easy daily needs. Beautiful hidden gem view at the back of the property!Host was so easy to communicate with for questions and we had a great time!!
The retreat served as a great spot for our family of 5 while visiting our parents and family in Cooperstown. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and the outdoor space was expansive. Roberta was very responsive and made us feel right at home. We hope to be back in the future.
An excellent property conveniently located to all that Cooperstown has to offer. Lots of backyard to play or relax. Minutes to Baseball HOF, 10 minutes to Cooperstown Dreams Park. Host Roberta was accommodating and responsive. We felt very welcome and comfortable. It was perfect for our family of 4 + sheepadoodle.
I recently stayed at one of Roberta's properties for the last week of the Cooperstown Tournament. The location was very close to Dreams Park, probably about a 10-12 minute ride, it was very easy to get to. The House was very clean and spacious. I would definitely recommend staying here for vacation or if your kids are in the Dream Park Tournament. Roberta was also available (cell & text) whenever we had questions. We ended up staying at the Red House (Cottage).

I'm sorry you were disappointed Paula. I wish you had reached out while you were at the property to share your needs. I personally go in and clean the house with two other girls and know that the house is left in quite clean condition. I do not know what you're referring to when you say the water pressure was poor. The house is on a municipal water system and is usually quite functional. All of the AC units do work and I would have been happy to help you learn how to use them. The grill bottom was indeed in poor condition and has been replaced and I apologize for that.
Unfortunately, my stay at the cottage or the retreat was cut short by bad weather
The place was adequate and very clean
I was a little taken back by the rules.
It is requested that the place be well cleaned when you leave, at least, that was my interpretation. For me, the purpose of going on vacation is so that I don’t have to clean.
There was a mildew smell that was mitigated with the windows opened. But unfortunately I couldn’t close two of the windows, and it did become cold at night.
The host was lovely and very responsive to my texts prior to renting the cottage.
Great location - 1 mile to Cooperstown village/ HOF and about 12 min to Dreams Park…I chose it for proximity to Dreams Park and because it was “pet friendly” Owner asked me to keep dog out of the bedrooms i wasnt using and quizzed me about breed/ “is he hypoallergenic?” Specific rules about where on the property dog can go to the bathroom (tall grass on edge of yard), no dogs on furniture…not exactly hospitable to pets..perhaps shes had experience with disrespectful owners…overall place is adequate…wifi works well…house is a bit damp and a bit buggy…there was a time in my life i would have left and gone elsewhere but it worked well enough…no towels provided….no dishwasher…guests are expected to wash dishes and clean up after they leave…everything in the kitchen was just a bit sticky…owner was very responsive and honestly nothing was so bad that it was worth making a stink but just know what you are getting…its not luxury, its not super comfortable but if you want a place that sleeps several people and is close to the activities in Cooperstown it works quite well

Hi Mary... Pets are allowed but at the owners discretion and it is stated on the website that they need to be hypoallergenic. I needed to confirm that your dog was hypoallergenic because future guests can have allergies to dogs and that is a problem for them. Also it seemed logical to suggest , which I did, closing the doors to the bedrooms not being in use and was not a demand. I'm sorry you took offense at that. I did ask you to take the dog to certain areas to do its business because I do not have time to go searching the lawn to look for dog poop...an endless task for a host w/ several properties. Asking you to take your dog to a certain area is so I can avoid having my future guests (children playing in yard) step in something unpleasant.... And yes I have had some very negative experiences with guests bringing their dogs. and not being sensitive to future guests. It is precisely for this attitude , sadly, that I have removed pet guests from my other homes.
I'm sorry you felt things in the kitchen were sticky I myself clean the kitchen very thoroughly. Perhaps you are referring to the wood countertops which are spot treated with natural mineral oil on occasion on change over day. The house takes quite the workout during the summer months with the Dreams Park guests and often needs refreshing and repairs beyond basic cleaning.
Cleaning your dishes seems like a very basic courtesy.
The pictures fairly represent the property.

Nice property
Not luxurious by any means. It is rustic, be prepared for bugs, its woodsy. You are in a great location to downtown Cooperstown, within 10 mins to the dreams park and close to grocery store. We had the best location compared to our other families. House does have some drawbacks. Area is very humid in the summer, making the house damp and musty. Air conditioners do work well! Main bathroom window did not close. It is screened, but cannot close. We just kept the door closed so not to lose our air conditioning. Master bathroom shower is tiny. Most men would have trouble showering in it, not a deal breaker by any means and it was nice to have 2 bathrooms. Furniture is not the most comfortable for lounging as it's wicker, but we only used it for short periods of time. All 3 bedroom doors had trouble closing. One bedroom door handle came off, we put it back on. Washer and dryer were great. Kitchen is small but very well appointed. Overall clean property and nicely decorated. Our boys loved going down to the river and playing in the large yard. Roberta was very nice, she stopped by while we were there. We would stay again!

Thank you for your feedback!
It was an unusually humid week which is out of a hosts control. I'm sorry about the doors sticking which was due to the humidity. I am always available to help when needed so a call to fix that handle would have been great but thank you for taking care of it. You never know when a rental will need a repair, just like ones own home... It is always a surprise . Glad you enjoyed the terrific convenience of the location and the decor. The yard is always a hit! The Price is very good for the location, size and aesthetics of the property.
Thank you

Host was extremely gracious and welcoming. Communication throughout the process was excellent and accommodated a desperate request for an early check-in. The host also recommended the restaurant, Origins, which serves life-changing paninis and only a ½ mile away. Would absolutely stay again.
Adequately decorated but this place does not live up to the name “Retreat”. Mildew and bugs left us wishing we were elsewhere. There was no joy staying here in a high-humidity month and after perhaps not being used much. Spiders were plentiful and kept returning. Unfortunately, it was too late to make another lodging arrangement. If you are immune to smells of mildew or mold, bugs, bites, and damp clothes, carpets, towels, this place might not be for you. We used an indoor bug zapper and lots of charcoal bags to make it bearable. The bug zapper crackled like a campfire all night. Check out reviews throughly for any common themes to make an informed decision. We learned a lot in retrospect.

Hello Julia,
I am so sorry that your were dissapointed in your stay at the Retreat. We take great pride in cleaning all of the properties with care. I personally am cleaning with 2 other ladies. The Retreat has been rented all summer long and you are correct in observing the high humidity during your stay. As a result of the uncharacteristicly wet and humid weather the spiders are in overdrive. they rebuild their delicate webs in an hour...We do go around capturing them but they do come back in this rural environment. I opt not to the spray the house due to the toxicity of the chemical spays. The spiders are few with maybe 3-4 through out the house at any time. Country living and the damp, humid weather can make them more productive. You did have a damp week and I am sorry for that. Everywhere people are experiencing dampness, including in my own home, due to the wet summer weather.. You may have read the reviews before you chose the Retreat for your stay...they are very positive. I am sorry you did not enjoy the property. Please reach out ot me so I can discuss a discount on any future stay. Many thanks Roberta
It was very convenient for our Cooperstown baseball vacation.
