Hosts were kind/gave all relevant info, Price isfair. Stars because house is in some bad repair: bathrooms are very dated, water does not properly drain in showers and pools up. Theres significant dry rot near tub. It seems like the home got a coat of interior paint and some new decorations but is otherwise as original owners had it maybe 30 years ago. Carpet seems about that old, may not be but seems it.

Everything was fine. There was an issue with train noise, but it was minor. All homes on that side of town hear some noise. The heater worked fine and all rooms were clean and in good condition.The hosts were easy with which to work.

Great value for price. Midcentury home with 3 large bedrooms and 2 baths. Shower in smaller bath with low water pressure, but we showered in the main bathroom, so really no problem. Would stay here again.

I stayed at this property for four weeks for work with two coworkers, and unfortunately our experience was not very positive. The house felt quite outdated overall, especially the stove and some of the furnishings. Cleanliness was also a concern — we found dirty dishes, cigar wrappers, and even a half-eaten bagel under one of the beds. In one bed, there was a pair of dirty socks in the sheets, which made us question whether the bedding had been properly washed between guests.There were also maintenance issues. Most of the outlets were two-prong with no ground, one shower took 10–15 minutes for hot water and had very low pressure, and the other had water spraying from the wall that caused drywall damage( possible black mold). Although the owners did repair the faucet, the wall damage was not addressed, which was concerning. I reached out to ask about canceling our stay because of these issues but did not receive a response.The beds were also uncomfortable with very thin bedding. Overall, we did our best to make it work since we were there for work, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again or recommend it to others.

Comfortable home

We enjoyed our stay. Some of the fixtures in the bathroom need repair and their are some spooky spaces that made us feel a little uncomfortable but we acknowledge that it is an older home with interesting living features that make the home a good space to hang out and play games.

Definitely would book again. Host answered our questions right away about the AC which worked great and was a must seeing how the outside temperature was 110*f degrees outside. Spacious rooms, living room can use an upgrade on couches but still good. One shower had very low water pressure and the other shower you had to tweak with a bit but it is an older house so it’s understandable. Stove is an older model so we were a little iffy about using it but got it to work right away and had a great breakfast and dinner! Highly recommend this place and for sure will book again .

This house is a classic California bungalow from another era. So quaint. We had lots of room for everyone to have their own space. It's in a charming and quiet neighborhood that is close to some of Chico's best. Very walk-able & close to downtown. We appreciated our hosts' quick response to questions. The house has a roomy kitchen & eating space when you want to eat in. There's a shady & quiet backyard for pets to enjoy. We were glad we found it as it met all our needs and more.

Nice visit

We had a really good time with our friends. The house is great as far as the amenities. We had a few issues and I am sure that they will take care of right away. The rug has spots but we did take our shoes off as requested. The Weber BBQ was dirty and so was the oven and drawer. Also the back gate is broken so we couldn’t just let the dog out alone. Owners were great and we would definitely stay there again! The CoolGel bed was amazing!!

Adequate but not as advertised

The good: hosts were very friendly and responsive. Appliances are quirky but they work. The AC and heater work well. The neighborhood is older but decent. Opportunities to improve: there are NOT as many beds as advertised. The “sofa bed” is just a very hard futon. There are no twin beds just some very leaky air mattresses. And there were no sheets that fit them anyway so some of our family spent a very uncomfortable weekend. No balcony, garden, nor first aid kit as listed in the ad. There is a yard but it is all weeds, primarily needle grass so not safe for little feet. Had good cooking utensils but only a very few pieces of mismatched flatware. NO on-site parking. It’s all street parking. The property is very poorly maintained making it not really suitable or safe for toddlers and really young kids…scalding water with leaky faucets that spray, moldy water damage under sinks and in one bathroom, doors with bad hinges and wonky curtain rods that randomly fell on us, old fashioned home features like a wood storage dumbwaiter by the fireplace with doors that open to a drop off so we had to get some zip ties to secure it and keep the kiddos from falling into it. One bedroom is very drafty because the built in cabinets have a large gap that leads to a subfloor with areas actually open to the crawl space, not to mention a very creepy closet type room in that space.We managed to make it work but will likely look for a different place on our next stay.

Good stay

This house is what a local real estate agent would call a "classic Avenues charmer", meaning it's a cute little house with no updates whatsoever. We enjoyed our stay there, the hosts were quick and easy to communicate with and check out was easy (as I write this I realize I forgot to let them know when we left, which they requested, so sorry about that!) We didn't use the kitchen so I can't speak to that. Bathrooms were clean except someone else's hair was on the shower wall in one of the bathrooms. The "fenced yard" does indeed have a fence but the back gate does not latch (backs to a neighborhood alley) and there is a space under the gate that a large dog or person can fit under, my kids could make an easy escape. The only other area for improvement would be a new living room couch, it is very uncomfortable. Pros were that it is in a great location for Chico. Nice hosts with good communication. Easy check in/out. Comfy memory foam beds, nice sheets. Plenty of towels. AC works great. The little pool table and Foosball table were fun. Also there was a Brita in the fridge. Overall, we had a good stay.

House is an older home. Stove is very old. For some reason there were tons of flies in the house. We killed about 50. We did reach out to owners and they quickly provided us with a zapper.

Whether it’s boating in South Lake Tahoe, kayaking in Half Moon Bay, snowboarding in Big Bear and Mammoth, camping in Mono Lake, or taking photos our way through Napa and Great Canyon - we are all about road trips and new adventures with family and friends.
