Owner Description

We are pleased to be able to rent our family getaway to you. My husband and I and our two little girls love this home and we are told you can feel that when you walk in the door. It is a well appointed, stocked and decorated home that we have tried our best to make it a nice place for other families to relax. Lots of games, art supplies and kids videos are also available for your use.
Why the Owner Chose Ellijay
"so hows it going?...the answer 9 out of 10 times when someone asks you this question is "busy". Yes, life is busy and moves at an ever increasing frenetic pace. Except for life on Big Buck. Turn your inbox and off and recharge for a stay at our retreat. The only 'beeps' you will here is the sound of your coffee machine alerting you to grab a cup of coffee and sit on the deck for awhile. We chose this home as it offered us a sense of peacefulness and relaxation that cant be beat. We arrive at the house on top of Big Buck, take a breath in and let the craziness and pace of the world take a back seat for a bit. The views are 180 degrees and endless. The amenities and decor of the home are top notch and we have tried to think of everything that would make your stay a special one.

The photos of this property do not do it justice! The drive was a little daunting but our Yukon XL 2 wheel drive never lost traction winding up the mountain road. The view is phenomenal! This is a very peaceful, private, serene location. The house was impeccably clean and we felt at ease when we walked in the door. The local trash drop off changed locations and was not open during Thanksgiving week but we managed to get by. The owners are quick to respond to any questions and were fantastic hosts. We would love the opportunity to return again with our little ones.

WOW, where do you start a review on such a great home site. Upon our arrival, the house was spotless. We have rented quite a few homes, but this one was one of the cleanest. The kitchen is very well stocked and equipped. The big king size bed is relaxing after a long days drive. One can open the front and back doors and get that cool mountain breeze. We spent most of our time sitting on the back porch looking at the view. This home is at the very tip top of a mountain. Usually at the top, the backyard is almost straight down. Not this place. The yard is flat enough to drive a tractor-trailer around the house. It is a completely private setting. It was a pleasure doing business with Heather and Brian. Rent this home quickly, you won't be disappointed.

If your looking for a getaway with or without family you'll love Big Buck. My family has had the opportunity to spend a few weekends at Big Buck Mtn and every time has been GREAT! This house has everything you need PLUS the best view on the mountain. The outdoor fire pit for awesome for hanging out and making smores. Close to some of North Georgia's best trout fishing and hiking trails or just stay at the house relax and enjoy the view. Whatever you want to do, you can't go wrong with this place. Looking forward to my next trip already.

Heather is an amazing owner who takes pride in this vacation rental-you can see it the minute you walk through the front door. The home itself is clean and decorated beautifully. The kitchen has all the necessities for cooking in the home. The yard is wonderful for children to play in. I think we were outside 90% of the time. The porch swing was the perfect place to watch the kids play in the yard and absorb the beautiful mountain views The firepit was great for smores. We were a little concerned with the 2.5 mile gravel road up to get to the house-but it became a fun adventure when we got used to it. Thank you Heather for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful rental home!! This is a home we'd love to rent again!

This is a great rental property. The view alone is unbelievable. We have a little one and not having to bring all her gear was a plus. The only suggestion I could make is to bring your truck or SUV. The ride up the mountain was a little rough for our sedan (we almost brought the Jeep and were kicking ourselves for not doing it). Otherwise I would say it is a beautiful place to get away from it all.

I saw the photos on this website and was already impressed with this home, but upon our arrival we were truly amazed. It is a wonderfully decorated, cozy getaway. The home is nestled in the woods about 2.5 miles up a gravel road to the mountain top. The view is truly spectacular. While here we were perfectly content to stay at home, sit peacefully on the porch swing taking in the view, have our own movie festival in the media room, roast marshmallows in the fire pit, and play board games. This home even comes with a local dog, Shadow. Neighborhood lore tells that he lives on the neighboring mountain but doesn't like his owners goats so roams the mountain. He's sweet as can be and loved our dogs who were along on the trip. Thank you, Heather, for your hospitality. You made this a vacation to be long remembered and we can't wait to return!!!

We have stayed at Big Buck Retreat a couple of times and can't wait to come back! It was a great escape from our busy lives in Atlanta. The amenities were nice, the layout is great, and the view is AMAZING! Our kids love the tire swing, and the fire pit is fun for smores and a late nice glass of wine.

We stayed at this property through the 4th of July weekend and had a wonderful time. The home is well stocked and has the most amazing views. The back deck has views of the mountains and Carter's lake. A wonderful home to relax, recharge and enjoy with your family. It is also pet friendly which was very important to my family.
