Le Relais du Vieux Beaune is a newly restored, bright, spacious, and luxuriously equipped two bedroom, one bathroom apartment in the heart of medieval Beaune.
Beaune is a lovely town of 20,000 people which is the epicentre of the winemaking culture in Burgundy. Even amongst the French, "Beaunois", as the locals are called, are renowned for their love of wonderful food, prestigious wines, and the French "joie de vivre."
Beaune's small size means that it is slow paced and relaxing, yet its vibrant wine culture means that it is packed with wonderful restaurants in all different price ranges, cafes, wine tasting opportunities, and a twice weekly open air market where you can purchase delectable fresh and seasonal food. The town is also extremely picturesque and remarkably well-preserved.
Le Relais du Vieux Beaune's location couldn't be better as it is on one of the oldest cobblestone streets of Beaune within the town's preserved medieval fortifications, a short one to five minute walk from everything.
Moreover, Beaune is surrounded by countless famous and quaint wine villages such as Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Pernand-Vergelesses, which makes for wonderful days of exploring the countryside and villages by foot, bike, or car.
Le Relais is located on the second floor (one floor up from the street) of a newly restored building with a private, shared courtyard set well back from the street. The apartment boasts a fully equipped kitchen with brand-new appliances including a microwave and dishwasher, a large bedroom with a high end queen-size bed, a living room with a flat screen TV and DVD player, and another bedroom with two double beds.
Antiques are throughout the house - ancient armoires and lots of charming decorative details that offset the moulded ceilings, wooden floors, and original marble fireplaces. Wi-Fi internet connection is available on request, as is a crib and high chair (free of charge) if you have a little one.
