Why the Owner Chose Mooresville

This house has been in Larry's family for more than 40 years. It was built in 1968. We both have just tons of memories that are set in this home. We have had a ball updating the home and sharing it with friends and family and guests.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage

The house has a very secluded feel to it. With over 400' of waterfront and an abundance of trees it is easy to forget that there are other homes around. Yet, it is just moments from Mooresville and the interstate. The screen porch is our absolute favorite feature to the house and sitting on the dock in the early morning with a cup of coffee is THE best way to start the day.

Owner's Map of Mooresville

We've been married more than 30 years. We were high school sweethearts in Charlotte. We spent almost 20 years in and around NYC and now we are thrilled to be back in North Carolina. We really enjoy sharing this house with folks from all over.

    • We celebrate our anniversary each October by taking a vacation. This year we enjoyed a wonderful week at Sheltered Cove visiting with family who live in Mooresville and Concord. There are beautiful views from almost every window overlooking the lake. Even though it rained while we were there, we loved being in the tranquil setting. We spent evenings sitting on the screened in porch or in front of the fireplace. Fishing in the rain from the dock (while bundled up) was even fun! The dock is fabulous as well. Sheltered Cove is conveniently located to shopping and great restaurants! There is much to do! We dreaded leaving our little oasis. We look forward to returning to Sheltered Cove and its quiet splendor!!

    • We loved our two weeks here. The great screened porch with it's long views was a favorite spot. I don't remember a spot so quiet and peaceful since camping on the islands of Lake George, NY, 35 years ago. The deep water at the dock was perfect for our boat, and for swimming. The cabin and the time here was everything we could have asked for, and we will return. Ray and Susan Williams

    • You are very lucky to have such a wonderful place on the lake. We were blessed to spend the week having fun and just enjoying each others company. We have relatives and family that live in Davidson and it was great to visit and see them as well. I forgot how great it was to be away and how relaxed I was until I came to work this afternoon and haven't had a moments rest. Thanks again for everything. We wish you all the best.

    • Thank you for a wonderful week at your beautiful lake house. We have been renting lake houses on Lake Norman for 5 years and your lake house was the best one we have ever rented. It was cozy, nicely decorated, and fully equipped with all the appliances you would need for a long week. We thoroughly enjoyed your dock with easy access in and out of the water by stairs and dock ladder. We enjoyed the availablity of your canoe with paddles for kids and adults. We loved your houses location close to the most beautiful lake island beach on Lake Norman and proximity to Queens Landing for putt putt. My kids enjoyed exploring in your yard that was well manicured and free of poison ivy. They loved swinging on the playset and building a little fort against a tree. And without a doubt the best place in your house was the large porch facing West, perfect for watching sunsets at night and watching the kids while fishing off your dock. Thank you!!!uccess.

    • we always love our restful stays at sheltered cove. the atmosphere is so peaceful, you just don't want to leave. our son caught his first 3 fish there and wants to return as soon as possible. details such as fresh flowers and a nightlight for the children were an added blessing. anne is a gifted artist and her eye for beauty and creativity is seen throughout the house. larry has lended his gift of craftsmanship throughout the house, with great results. we ate almost every meal on the porch surrounded by the beauty of the lake. weekdays are best as there is less boat traffic on the lake and you can really enjoy all nature has to offer without interruption. i wholeheartedly reccommend this beautiful cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway, with or without children.

    • We rented the cottage to spend time with relatives in Mooresville, but they spent time with us instead! :) The screened in porch was our favorite spot. We also enjoyed a glass of wine on the dock in the adirondak chairs at sunset. Thank you again for all of the personal touches and for a wonderful week.

    • Wonderful, relaxing place. You won't be disappointed. My sister and I wanted to have a get away weekend with our mother on Mother's Day. We spent two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We hope to go back.

    • Having lived in MI for the past 32 years, we expect winters to be hard but come spring we feel the real need for warm beautiful weather conditions. Well, this year we found them, at Sheltered Cove. After going on line to find a cottage rental on Lake Norman that would accomodate our dogs and us for a week or more, we found Larry & Anne's web site. What a find!! We are only sorry we didn't plan for more time there. We loved the look of the site but when we arrived at the lake it was much beyond what a small screen could show. The screened porch was our favorite place to be ... well maybe Bill would say the covered boat dock (he caught some really big "cat fish" and bass). Our boat was protected, our dog Perci really felt at home and our family & friends from the area really felt we had found our NC "home". Thanks to the decorative and talented eye of Anne (her paintings are great too!) Sheltered Cove is a warm and comforting place to relax and recoop after a hard winter. We look forward to many more visits to NC and our new found "favorite place". Thank you Anne & Larry, God Bless you both.

    • This truly was the best weekend we have ever spent as a family! It was truly an amazing, relaxing, and quality experience. We never left the home or turned on the tv the entire time we were there. We swam, fished, played t-ball with the little guy and just spent quality time catching up from the hectic schedule of our daily lives. There is a peaceful calming energy in this home that is felt from the minute you pull up to the door. We did not want to leave; my husband actually said he was going to cry when we drive away! Definitely a birthday my husband will not forget. Thank you for being so accommodating with the time schedule and for allowing us to stay in your WONDERFUL home! Can’t thank you enough. We will be back!

    • SHELTERED COVE August 2008 We arrived tired, stressed and restless. Use to the hustle and bustle we quickly unpacked to begin what we thought would be a typical vacation. We entered the screened porch nestled within the trees. We sat quietly listening to the evening crickets sing, and the water lapping onto the rocks from the lake. Soon an owl perched on a branch and looked into the porch at us. We both stared at amazement of each other. It was as if he was welcoming us to Sheltered Cove. Within moments he flew off into the darkness of the night. The next several days we enjoyed swimming and boating. We began to transform back to children playing and laughing a though we were at summer camp. Hot afternoons we sat quietly sipping on a cold drink enjoying the natural beauty around us. Soon a squirrel came out and we watched as he carefully ate an acorn. When he was done he threw away the shell and plucked a mushroom from the ground and ate it like it was corn on the cob. We smiled as we were delighted to be in his presence. Soon the squirrel became tired and sprawled out against the coolness of the bark of the tree for a mid summer’s nap. Our hearts were warmed by this special creature. Mornings were special as we walked down to the water deck before the lake summer activities began. We drank our coffee in silence watching the cranes fly around looking for fish. They were beautiful with their long legs and beaks. Then quickly one dives to catch a fish and carries it off to feed her young high in the trees. We watched silently as various birds soared beautifully in the morning winds. Time seemed to stand still for us. Soon it was time for us to leave. We were sad as we both knew this is a very special place. We packed and loaded up the boat for the travel home. As we drove away we stopped for a moment to reflect once again about this wonderful place called Sheltered Cove. We were rejuvenated and calm. This truly was the best vacation. Thank you Anne and Larry for sharing this very special place with us and others. We will be back to this place called Sheltered Cove.
