Why the Owner Chose Pigeon Forge
We've lived in New York, Arkansas, California, Florida and Indiana, and have traveled extensively - including more than 50 trips to the Smokies. We agree with Dolly - there's no place like our Tennessee mountain home.
When we purchased Apple Dumpling, we looked at nearly 50 cabins, new and not-so-new, from Cobbly Nob and Ski Mountain to Sky Harbor and Wears Valley. However, with Apple Dumpling, it was love at first sight. We loved the unspoiled mountains surrounding Walden's Creek; the privacy of Apple Dumpling Ridge; and the simple beauty of Apple Dumpling cabin. Apple Dumpling is our home away from home and we visit it 5-6 times each year. No matter what the season, the mountains are always beautiful and there are always more things to do than there is time to do them.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Nearly every guest that we've had has written very nice comments in our guest book, and everyone seems to mention different things that were special to them. Everyone loves the location, surrounding natural beauty, and privacy. The hot tub, pool table, table games, DVD's, etc., make for great family experiences.
Owner's Map of Pigeon Forge
Bonnye and Dennis are both recently retired - he after a 25 year HR management career and a couple of small business ventures, she after 15 years as an elementary school teacher. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in 2009, as well as the birth of our fourth grandson. We have three grown children and live with an old horse (31 years), and old goose (18 years), Cocker Spaniel Buddy, cat Ike, and numerous other critters (squirrels, ducks, racoons, groundhogs, etc.)in southern Indiana.

We really enjoyed our stay at Apple Dumpling during the Christmas/New Years holiday. It was absolutely beautiful, the cabin, the apple decor, peaceful, quiet and secluded. You both have put so much into the cabin, nothing is needed. Apple Dumpling was warm, cozy, clean and the Christmas decorations were a nice touch!. We will definitely keep you in mind when we visit Tennesse again...There's so much to do and see we just couldn't get it all in. Thank You Again for a wonderful Stay!
Owner response:Rosana, Thanks for your nice review. I hope it helps others realize how nice the Smokeys and Apple Dumpling can be during the winter months. It's especially interesting to see that a family from Miami appreciates wintertime in the mountains. Dennis

My family of 5 enjoyed our stay in Dennis & Bonnye's Apple Dumpling. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas! We loved the location and the flat parking area. Plenty of room for us and our adult daughters. The cabin was clean and had all the household items you could possibly need or want. We will definitely stay there again. The owners were very quick to respond to email questions. I have already recommended this cabin to other family members who often go to the Smoky Mountain area. We went to Dollywood for the Christmas festiviites two days and - of course - SHOPPING! Ready to go back. Thanks again Dennis & Bonnye for sharing your beautiful cabin!
Owner response:Thank you for your great review Donna. We're looking forward to having you stay with us again next year.

The Apple Dumpling cabin was very comfortable and relaxing. It was quiet and very private. The kitchen had everything you could think of to make a meal. All the rooms were clean and cozy. The hot tub was a good size too! There were plenty of games for the kids to play and they did'nt want to leave. I wish we could have stayed longer!! The owners were very efficient; I would highly recommend this cabin.
Owner response:Emma, Thanks for your great review. I believe your comments will help others looking for a cabin understand what we have to offer. Dennis

We thoroughly enjoyed the Apple Dumpling experience. Many thanks to Dennis and Bonnye for decorating this home in such a welcoming way. We loved the space - the great room and TV were just the right size for us, bedrooms were great, the kitchen just the right size, and the dining area had plenty of room for all 6 of us. Our teen loved the loft for escape from the rest of us. The pool table was a big hit. The wrap-around porch afforded peaceful views of the surrounding forest. We knew we had neighbors, but only because we occasionally heard them. It was definitely secluded, but only minutes from the Pigeon Forge shopping and dining area. You have to try Bennett's for bbque or the Old Mill for a great TN meal. Dollywood was lots of fun, too. Fox Fire Mtn for the zip line was "awesome!" We hope to visit again!
Owner response:Jodi, Thanks for your nice review. Your description of everything that is available should help others with their vacation planning. Dennis & Bonnye

This cabin is very clean and has everything you will need from the kitchen utensils to games and a hot tub. We spent a weekend enjoying hiking (owners gave us great suggestions for hiking trails) in the Smokies with friends and found this cabin a nice retreat. It has plenty of room - with 6 adults, we never once felt crowded. I definitely recommend this cabin if you are looking at staying near Pigeon Forge and I would be up for going back.
Owner response:Melissa, Thanks for the nice review. Hope you can make it back soon. Dennis

This cabin was perfect for our annual girlfriend getaway! It is located away from the hustle of town but within a few short miles to the conevenience of coffe shops, restaurants, and groceries. The cabin has 3 lovely large rooms with very comfortable beds as well as a loft with 2 single beds. The cabin was large enough to accomadate the 4 of us without feeling overcrowded and would definitely accomodate more with ease. We spent most of our time out on the deck lounging with nature anyway. The hot tub and home is fed with well water but it did not bother us at all, actually we only really noticed it in the hot tub, the water softener that is used inside does the trick! We experienced a bit of a learning curve with how to operate the controls for the tv and sound system, but it wasn't for lack of information provided. Dennis and Bonnye provide wonderful instructions for how to operate the components in the cabin and other supplemental information to make you stay more enjoyable. To sum it up, Dennis and Bonnye have created a home away from home for their guests so if you are looking for the sterility of a resort cabin, you will not find it here.
Owner response:Hi all, Thanks for the great review. Come on back for Christmas shopping. November/December is a favorite time of the year for ladies to visit the Smokeys. We believe Pigeon beats the .... out of he Mall of America for shopping/dining/visiting/etc.
