Giovanna's Giardino Al Mare (translated from Italian, Joanne's Garden at Sea)was completed December 2007. This new masonry cottage sleeps up to four people with one King Bedroom and bath suite on lower level and a Queen sofa bed on upper level in living room also with a bath suite. Entrances are on separate levels for privacy. Both baths have attached outdoor showers made from local rock and shells. Relax with views of turquoise waters and green hillsides including the East End, Tortolla and Sage Mountain, Norman Island, Peter Island, and British Virgin Islands without leaving your beds. Lights of Tortolla are spectacular at night.
Enjoy lovely furnishings and stainless steel appliances in a fully-equipped kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining or barbecue on the deck while enjoying the views and trade winds. This masonry cottage also includes beautiful stone work--stone steps and Caribbean designed rock and shell walls that surround gardens inspired by Aunt Giovanna.
Located minutes away from turquoise water beaches, great restaurants, shopping, fishing, boating, and water sports. Don't miss a sail on BREATH, our only St. John man-made, small tall ship. Enjoy our National Park with its many protected, pristine beaches and numerous hiking trails also within minutes.
Enjoy the friendly locals and ask where to find the best eats and drinks. They'll tell you and there are many so prepare for some culinary feasts.

My husband and I stayed there over the holidays and couldn't be happier with the accommodations. The cottage was a clean and comfortable home away from home; and the views were amazing!! I never got tired of looking at that view! We spent many hours on that deck enjoying the sun and the amazing view. It was a perfect vacation home. Antonette's attention to detail made the journey over to St. John an incredibly smooth process. I agree with previous reviewers, the road up to the cottage is steep and when wet can be very slippery. It's best to rent a 4x4. All in all, a wonderful stay and a very memorable vacation. Can't wait to go back!

I was overwhelmed with the internet search to find somewhere to stay in St. John's. When I landed on this site I was intrigued by the location, the gardens, the stone and of course the view! We even rearranged our travel dates to stay here. It turned out to be even better than the pictures. I second all of the comments made in the other reviews. The drive up to the property was steep so you will want a Jeep. Antonette's arrival instructions were priceless. The shower was totally fun, especially after long days at the beach. No words can describe the view. While there are many beautiful places on this island, Giovanna's is a private garden paradise.

We enjoyed 9 nights at the cottage at the end of May and beginning of June 2011. Everything was pretty much as we expected and the location is certainly ideal! We did a have problem with one of the appliances but the owner was very responsive and did everything that could be done to get it resolved as quickly as possible. The way she handled this “problem” was a true testament for the overall high level of care given to this property and to her customers. We would absolutely recommend this cottage!

I expected this cottage to be nice, but it truly exceeded my expectations. It was adorable and wonderfully furnished with immaculate, comfortable wicker and wood funiture, and the cottage design was airy and open with lots of light yet without harsh sun beating down and making the place too hot. There were lots of ocean breezes and we enjoyed sitting on the porch after dinner taking in the beautiful view. The owner/caretaker were very thoughtful, with wireless internet, land line to the U.S., satellite TV, a wide selection of movies, an iPOD speaker hookup, and even dish soap, a sponge, and extra garbage bags to make things easier on us. The owner was also incredibly helpful in answering questions about the stay and the island. Keep in mind, you'll definitely need a car to get to this place from Cruz and Coral bay. Overall, a wonderful place to stay.

We stayed in this lovely cottage ( Giovanna's Giardino Al Mare ) In March 2009. We found this cottage had everything anyone would want. Breathtaking views of Coral Bay, the British Virgin Islands and the beautiful mountains of St. John. It was furnished with beach chairs, plenty of towels, full kitchen necessities including many spices to cook your own meals. Also, for grilling, there is a nice gas grill on the deck. We used this several times. It was built in 2007 and furnished tastefully with nice furniture and stainless steel appliances. We enjoyed our morning coffee outside on the spacious deck overlooking Johnson Bay and the islands. What a way to start the day! The master suite has a comfy king size bed and private bath downstairs. Also with awesome views. Antonette, the owner was such a hospitable host. She made our vacation even more enjoyable by giving us suggestions of what to do and where to go. We loved this cottage and the breathtaking views so much that we are returning this March 2011 again. Can't wait!

If for no other reason, stay here for the view! I couldn't get enough time out on the fabulous deck just taking it in! You will need a 4x4 to get up the short drive to the cottage, but once there you'll find all the amenities that you need. Even the "outdoor" showers were great, letting you hear the symphony of nighttime creatures as you clean up from the days spent on the beach. It's a short drive from quite a few local bars/restaurants that we had a great time visiting with locals at. Just a great stay!

Gorgeous views with the perfect breeze, clean, private, safe. The road to get to the house seems very rough at first, but by the 3rd day, after we got used to it...it was actually fun. (definitely need a 4 X 4 though). Antonette is very nice and helpful; thanks, we had a great time.

we had a great experience staying here! it was our first visit to STJ, and wont be our last. Antonette is a very nice lady with lots of info on the island. she was so easy to deal with and very informative. the cottage is newly built and decorated. the deck is such a nice place to sit and look out on the other islands. we will def stay here again! it was a great experience! i would recommend 4x4 vehicle...which you would need to access lots of beaches etc anyways. you cant go wrong with this nice cottage!
