Why the Owner Chose Port Angeles

As General and Electrical Contractors, we were hired 11 years ago to rebuild the dock and then work on the Cabin, including foundation, installing power, adding a bath with shower and adding a kitchen. Mrs. Beam approached us 10 years later about purchasing, knowing our knowledge of the cabin. Additionally, Sheryl is 3rd generation on Lake Crescent, her Grandfather built Log Cabin Resort and sold it in the 1970's.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

The Beam Cabin enjoys one of the most private beaches on the entire Lake. With 200' of sandy beach, the cabin sits at waters edge. The 200' path down to the beach from the private parking area completes your entrance to this wonderful place! The 80' dock will accomodate any vessel, the firepit is ready for your outdoor fire, the inside offers a cozy wood stove with all firewood provided. The four new queen beds upstairs share the open room with 3 beds in front of the windows for lakeside viewing. There are five acres for you to hike and explore, plus much, much more.

Owner's Map of Port Angeles

June of 2007, Andy and Sheryl Slack purchased the Beam Cabin, which was built in 1929,from the original owners.

What a wonderful place. Not many places like this on earth. Such a very calming and renewing experience. Resting, cooking, eating, stoking the fire . . . simplicity is inner peace. We enjoyed every detail of this place's hidden beauty . . . even the water - Nichole jumped in! COLD! We will most definitely return. Thanks for sharing this home with us.

Three years ago this week, we spent days on end staring at the Jamacian surf, contemplating a possible move from Michigan to Seattle. So how wonderful to spend time staring at beautiful Lake Crescent, being happy to have taken that leap of Faith and become Washingtonians! Thank you for this lovely getaway, only two hours yet a world away from home. We can't wait to come back.

34 years ago this summer, I worked across the lake at Lake Crescent Lodge; at age 18, this place was cemented firmly in my heart - have brought my husband and children here on occassion and in January 2008 our daughter and her partner (see page 6 of this guest book) discovered this special haven called the Beam cabin. We treated ourselves to this warm and incomparable place this weekend. We instantly knew here was "the cabin" we'd always dreamed of, but never quite found in our travels . . . and to find it on the shores of dear Lake Crescent was an unexpected treat. We spent much of our time looking across the lake to Rosemary Inn where our first born will be married this June. We look forward to coming back again and again! Thank you both for letting us have quiet time here and for maintaining the historical integrity of The Beam Cabin!

We enjoyed our stay - but much too short! You have a gem, but more importantly, your hearts are big enough to share the blessing with others. God bless you and your special spot here!

    • Everything was perfect - the beautiful setting, rustic and cozy cabin packed with historical photos and mementos, incredibly gracious owners, and the resident deer and racoon that greeted us upon our arrival created a getaway that would be hard to match. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful retreat with us!

Sounds of snow sliding off the roof and down the back as it melts, waves splashing. Fun, good friends, food, good times in a beautiful place - God's Country - lucky Slacks! You found a piece of heaven. Happy New Year to all and we hate to leave as the sun shines on the snow covered trees across the lake.

Andy, Sheryl & Future Guests: We cannot over-express how enjoyable our stay here has been. Not only in the perfect setting, the ideal balance of comfort with rustic charm, the thoughtful and generous provisions, the incredibly appropriate level of upgrades without spoiling - only enhancing the history, but most of all the personal touch and hospitality, including detailed tips for making the best use of everything, for gaining the best experience for our limited time, and providing details for the rich history of this property and surrounding geology. You went the extra mile to accomodate us on short notice. All this and more will be forever etched in our greatest memories and we hope for future visits.
