My wife and I recently spent a weekend in Paso Robles for our 19th anniversary and stayed "Under the Oaks". What a perfect location for our visit! When we pulled up in front of the property on Saturday afternoon, we could see that this quaint little home lives up to its nickname as several tall bushy oaks sprawled above the house. A nice touch from the owners - a bottle of red wine and two glasses greeted us as we entered the home. Our two English bulldogs checked out the spacious yard and were soon lounging lazily on the sunny front porch as we unpacked and settled in. After our first afternoon of confusion trying to figure out which way was which on Spring Street, we soon realized this home is centrally located in Paso Robles - walking distance to the cool downtown area and almost equidistant to the wineries surrounding the area off the 101 and 46 freeways. I'd definitely recommend taking the winding, scenic drive out to the Justin winery and be sure to visit the nice folks at Carmody right next door to Justin. Had a great dinner at PanOlivo off the park and returned in the morning for their danishes - delish. As the temps soared to over 100 on Sunday, we cut short our list of wineries to visit and returned "home" to a rather cool interior where we relaxed with some wine and enjoyed the quiet surroundings. We hope to make it back soon to Paso and will definitely be contacting Ken and Patty to book their home at "Under the Oaks". I recommend this property to anyone before they look into a hotel - it definitely enhanced our Paso Robles visit! Thank you Ken & Patty!Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: thank you for the feedback. We enjoy walking to the farmer's market Saturday morning when we are in town. Ken and Patti Under the Oaks

This is my first time renting from vrbo.com and I had no idea what to expect. Ken and Patti are so kind and responsive!! I got an email back within an hour of putting in my inquiry! The photos of the house doesn't do it justice. It's so cute, and cozy. There were 4 of us and a couple dogs that stayed over the weekend, and none of us were ready to leave on Sunday! Under the Oaks had everything we could ask for! The beds are super comfy, there was coffee and wine, the hot tub was a huge plus! We drank coffee in the morning on the front porch, while the dogs sun-bathed, then in the afternoon after going around town, we had wine and dinner in the backyard next to the fire pit. The house is located walking distance to the downtown area. There's a farmer's market Saturday morning, omg the strawberries were the size of my fist! The 101 and 46 are less that 2mins drive away, so you can go wine tasting, and/or hop on the 46 west to the beach. I was so pleased to find this gem of a home. The other couple stayed in the cottage, and loved the privacy! The place was so clean, and the landscaping was well manicured. The house is truly Under the Oaks! It was around 90 degrees the whole weekend, but the house stayed cool! I think the only bad thing (aside from having to leave) was that the bathtub/shower is a little challenging for us short girls haha. I know I struggled getting in/out of the shower. But overall, the experience was amazing. We were all talking about how we look forward to coming back soon! Thank you Ken and Patti for opening up your home for us!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed "Under the Oaks" for a birthday weekend getaway to Paso Robles! The house and cottage are very cute and well appointed, and the location is great. The welcome bottle of wine was very thoughtful and delicious. We were able to walk to tons of restaurants, stores, tasting rooms, and more. The hot tub was clean and well maintained, and was a relaxing ammenity. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family, and it will be my go-to place for future overnights in Paso.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I just returned from a FABULOUS weekend in Paso Robles. We rented this adorable cottage and it lived up to all the reviews and description. The house was the perfect size for us and the amenities were just what we had hoped for. Very clean and well kept. We walked to the downtown square for breakfast and dinner and also walked to the farmers market on Sat. morning. Great location to HWY 46 east and west to all of the wineries. If you are looking forward a peaceful and relaxing get-a-way for you and your husband this is the place for you! Looking forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We recently stayed at this property for a mid week stay and absolutely loved it. Our party consisted of four adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. The house was incredibly neat and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen was great and very functional. We always cook whenever we vacation so this was a big plus! The very large yard in back was the site of many late afternoon and early evening wine and cheese tastings and was incredibly relaxing. Our friends who stayed in the cottage in the back loved it and said that it reminded them of being in Italy. The house was centrally located in Paso Robles ans was close to everything. The downtown square was recently refurbished and there are many great restaurants and shops within walking distance. We would highly recommend this property for anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay while in Paso. We look forward to our next trip!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners.

My husband and I stayed at Under the Oaks last weekend and had a fabulous time! Ken and Patti gave us some great recommendations for food and wine before we arrived. The house was clean and comfortable. It's within walking distance of downtown in a pretty quiet neighborhood, and the neighbors are very nice. The hot tub was a bonus - I'd forgotten that they had one - and it was ready and waiting for us when we got there! We'll try to stay here again the next time we're in town...Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We really loved the house. There was a nice back yard with a fire pit, and the house was very cozy. Very clean, well-kept. The location is also incredible, we were walking distance from the downtown area and all the restaurants. And the vineyards were very easy to get to. Will definitely stay there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My wife and I used this charming bungalow for the Olive Festival weekend. This was my first VRBO venture and I surfed like crazy looking at all the possibilities, locations, accomodations and all of the potential "ADDED COSTS" associated with most. I have to tell you that Ken and Patti make it so easy to stay at their place. The location to town is perfect, the cottage is warm and inviting and the neighborhood is quiet but full of families. Here is the kicker that simply adds to the already great value, what they charge for a nights stay is all you pay...no cleaning fee, no security fee, just the nightly cost. I would take this place without hesitation over any hotel and believe me, my decision making time to find a place next year just went to an email to Ken and Patti...no more VRBO surfing for places in Paso Robles. Definitely a big Thumbs Up on this as the place to stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We just recently spent a weekend at Under the Oaks and were very pleased with our experience. The property is rustic, but incredibly well maintained. The backyard is perfect for relaxing after a day of wine tasting. Also, the proximity to downtown was amazing... it was such an easy walk to all the restaurants. There area also a couple great wineries (Calcareous, etc) not far up the road. It truly felt like a wonderful, unique experience in wine country.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Our yard works well for dog owners with plenty of space in the back and front yards. We love walking to dinner. Ken and Patti
