This captivating beach house has it all: whitewater views, nearby accesses to the State Beach, in a peaceful residential neighborhood west of the coast highway. Carlsbad Village is a about a half mile away. You can access additional pictures the web address provided below.
The home has been extensively remodeled throughout with high end finishes and has a charming blend of contemporary and antique furnishings. The gourmet kitchen, which features granite counters and stainless steel appliances, is equipped for serious cooks.
The spacious floor plan features three bedrooms (each with their own bathroom), a living room AND a family room, a dining room, a breakfast room, and a den with a sofabed. Outdoor "living areas" include an oceanview deck, several patios, and a fenced back yard.
Most of our guests spend their time either relaxing in the house, watching the doplphins frolic in the ocean and the pelicans floating by, or enjoying the very special beach. In addition to the sandy beach suitable for all ages, Terramar has tidepools teeming with sealife and the premier offshore surf break in Carlsbad.
Should you tire of salt air and the sound of breaking waves, Carlsbad offers a world of recreational opportunities, including free weekly summer jazz concerts, water and jet skiing, sportsfishing, golf, tennis and cycling. Legoland, Carlsbad Village, the flower fields and the Company Stores (an outlet mall with high-end stores) are all 5 minutes away. The world-renowned San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, and Sea World are about 1/2 hour away. Del Mar, with its thoroughbred racetrack is 15 minutes south. Day trips to LA and Orange County (Disneyland, etc.) are also possible. However, you may never want to leave the beach house!

- This charming beach house is located about 100 feet (one house)from the water's edge. The entire second floor master suite and family room has dramatic views of the breaking waves. Guests are lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf (and occasionally barking seals!). There are accesses to the State beach within walking distance both to the north and the south. Long beach walks, shell gathering and watching the pelicans and dolphins is also a popular pastime.

Owner Description
Our family (Kent,Dana and Amelia Whitson)lived in this house for over 20 years and we still use it as our second home. Dana is the retired City Manager for Sausalito, California (where our primary residence is located.) She does the bookings, along with occasional assistance of our daughter, Amelia, who grew up in the house. Kent is a retired transportation engineer/ planner who enjoys golfing, and is a senior PBA bowler. We are fortunate to have Carlsbad residents Karen and John Witmer, our wonderful friends, to be our onsite managers. Karen does the weekly inspections and coordinates the cleaning. John is incredibly handy and can fix just about anything. Teresa Gomez cleans the house after every guest. It is very much a family operation!

We are beginning our last day at your beach house and want to say we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Your home is lovely and very unique. We spent mornings on the side patio after our beach walk, afternoons reading and visiting in the living and family rooms and we found it quite amazing that all of us could be in the kitchen at the same time (cooking is one of our main vacation pastimes and your generously appointed kitchen is terrific for the creation of great meals). The usual after dinner evening routine was for Donna and Sanita to watch the sunset from the upstairs balcony while the rest of us enjoyed a long evening beach walk. We have had many beach vacations all up and down the southern coast of California going at least once a year for the past 32 years. Your home was absolutely one of the best experiences.

This home is loved and it truly shows! Great location to the beach as well as other activities. The layout of the house worked well with our family of 5 adults and 1 child and 3 small dogs. The kitchen works well for family breakfasts as well as dinners spilling out onto the back yard for outside dining. The 3 beds and baths were a must for us and were lovely. Would recommend for families or couples, young and old alike. The surf and boogie boards were an added treat for the younger ones, a good time was had by all. Great communication with the rep and a very fair rate. Best rental we've ever had!!

Thank you very much for renting us your beach house. It was a wonderful home and very well set up for our family. We enjoyed the beach and the surrounding area. Your neighbor, Michael was extremely helpful to us. What a great guy!! Everyone liked him and he is very personable. My seven year old grandson loved your home. He had a blast running around the yard, up the stairs, down the stairs, in and out of the doors. He also played with many of the games. Wishing you good luck with future rentals and once again thank you.
