  • Unbelievable Vacation

""Walls of Glass" is an unbelievable place to stay for a family beach vacation. We were able to walk right into the house when we arrived by keying in the code that Don had programmed into the door locks. The house is beautiful with large windows and doors and panoramic views of the horizon and the waves crashing below. The housekeeper had the place spotless before we arrived. The house has a garage but it was so easy to just pull into the color coded parking place and then zip out later that we never used it. There is a full kitchen with a 12 cup programmable drip coffeemaker that works great. There are two clothes washers and two dryers in the garage. The beds are very comfortable. There are nice TVs in each bedroom and a huge TV in the den. There is a soundproofing wall between the house and Pacific Coast Highway. We tried to listen for traffic noise between the crashing of waves but couldn't hear any. We were there last week in mid July when the "heat dome" was over the country but the house was always cool with ocean breezes blowing through. We spent a lot of time on the beach and frequently were the only ones out there. The beach is really pretty. On Sunday morning after we arrived, we loaded up on fresh fruit and food from the Malibu Farmer's Market for the week. We had really good meals at the Reel Inn, Marmalade Cafe, Moonshadows, Duke's, Cafe Habana, Nobu, and Geoffrey's. We had pizza delivered from D'Amore's and ate on the balcony one night. The view was better than any oceanfront restaurant we tried during the week. This is really a great place. We can't wait to go back."

"Very sweet little hideway on the side of the main house on the beach. Very clean."

  • We loved it!

"Renting through VRBO, you just hope the place matches the photos and reviews and this place did, perfectly. Lovely house and Steve, Amber and Rosa treated us well. We liked everything, but especially the master bedroom and the roof lounge area. Only negative is it is 18 miles north of the Malibu Pier, which itself is not an issue, but it seems like north Malibu is windier than south Malibu. In any case, we got a lot of wind last week. Also, on Friday, two neighbor kids spent most of the day riding a motorcycle on the beach in front of the house. I would have called the cops on them [I am sure this is illegal], but we were leaving the next day. I did track down their father 6 or 7 houses up the beach and chewed him out, but he was only moderately apologetic so I wouldn't trust that he wouldn't do this again. This would really bother me if they were doing it every day, because it is noisy and it really chews up the beach and you wouldn't want young kids competing with a motorcycle [we had a 3-year old with us]. There is a lot of sand on the beaches this year, but in a low-sand year, there could be rocks here; there were rocks immediately south of the house. In any case, we had a very pleasant week here."

  • Week end wedding in LA

"We arrived from Atlanta on Thursday for a Saturday wedding in the Silver Lake area. This studio was perfect for our needs. It was absolutely spic and span clean. It had everything needed for a short stay. The kitchen was well equipped with fridge, stove and micro oven, coffee pot, toaster, etc. I did see a variety of spices in the cabinet if one was up to a bit of fancy cooking but we ate dinners out at the several excellent and reasonable places nearby, especially the Vietnamese place. Walter left a few pages of recommended restaurants nearby which we found helpful. . Parking out front was an added convenience. My husband was in love with the modern rocking chair for reading in the room and also the privacy and comfort of the patio in the rear. The neighborhood seems totally safe and attractive and there was a new Whole Foods conveniently located one mile from the apt. We enjoyed walking the 'hood and seeing all the various residences and gardens nearby even though the streets were either uphill or down. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting LA as an alternative to a hotel with all of the privacy that came with it. We were there from Thursday until Tuesday and were well pleased with our accommodations. (We did hear the footsteps above as others had alluded to but it was not all day or all night and we took it as part of apt. living.)"
