Grams and I were invited up in July for one of the two weeks my daughter and son-in-law rented this beautiful property. I have traveled extensively in my career and attended Mich State University for fish and game biology. One morning standing in the middle of the road was the most beautiful black bear I had ever seen, and I have seen many...I was so pleased my 10 year old grand daughter was with me as its an experience few people get! The home is perfect in every way and done with excellent taste in every detail....Hooray!!!!NO TV !!! If you want true wilderness type beauty while being close to civilization this is it....We are coming back next year in July again and we just can't wait....this time I am coming prepared to catch some of those trophy walleyes that call the reservoir "home"Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for your kind words! It is really a one of a kind location! One clarification for future renters- we do have two televisions to show movies but no cable or satellite. There is internet access for those who want to stay connected to the real world. We look forward to having you again next summer!

Everything about this rental was amazing. The layout of the home is beautiful, three stories plus finished basement. Furnishings are top shelf, from top to bottom. We had an amazing vacation, mornings out on the dock watching the steam rise, swimming and kayaking all day, and evenings on the water are the most amazing. The evenings cooled off into the fifties, great sleeping weather and the sound of the loons is very special. The property is at the end of a lakeside road, with a private, gated entrance. Home owners and caretakers are excellent. You wont be disappointed with this one. Thanks for sharing such an amazing place!Owner response: Thanks so much! Looking forward to having you back again!

My family has now stayed here four times in the past two years, and we simply cannot get enough. We've stayed for a week in the summer and three long weekends, with different configurations of family and friends from 2 adults/2 little kids to 6 adults and 6 little kids. All of these worked out great, with comfortable places to sleep and plenty of space for group meals and play time. First, the setting is gorgeous: on a quiet and pristine reservoir perfect for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, sunbathing, etc. (The house includes access to a dock with paddleboat and kayaks.) There are only a handful of houses around the reservoir, so if you go out to the dock at night you get deafening silence and blinding starlight. Amazing. Second, the home itself is beautiful: new construction from maybe 5 years ago; beautiful furniture, tons of windows and interesting nooks and crannies to explore; tons of games from pingpong to foosball to board games etc; a "chef's kitchen" that you wish you had at your home (if your home were big enough); a huge screened-in deck with tables and chairs to relax; and a feeling throughout the house that it was perfectly designed for large families to have a great time. Third, the owners are wonderful to work with. There is a local caretaker nearby to handle any questions or issues; and the owners are so helpful and nice. I can't recommend this place highly enough.Owner response: We are so lucky to have families who enjoy our home as much as we do! Thanks so much for the kind words and we look forward to hosting your family this summer!

This beautiful and very comfortable home is in one of the most picturesque locations we have ever seen. Our family spent a wonderful week here, enjoying the lake, the gorgeous views (which are amazing rain or shine), the fresh air, the sounds of the loons, and all the luxuries of the house (great kitchen, great DVD and game selections, very comfortable beds, etc.). What's more, the Theorins are incredibly nice people and were wonderful to deal with. We can't wait to visit their beautiful lakeside home again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed it! Please come back soon!

This rental property is truly a home away from home. The kitchen is state of the art, the furniture is plush and comfortable. The bedrooms large and yet cozy, the bathrooms completely renovated. We had the best three day weekend! Though it sleeps at least 9, it was still intimate enough for just my boyfriend and I. Close to great restaurants and ski adventures, yet isolated enough to feel like the real world is a million miles away. The personal touches were heart warming. We are looking forward to experiencing it all over again during the summer. The house is right in front of the lake and the view beyond are the moutains. Great getaway, a bit of a gem in the middle of the woods, highly recommended. “Thank you! You have done everything to perfection. The beautifully landscaped entrance, the welcome package, the to-die-for kitchen, the well-decorated spacious rooms, the screened porch--with a table big enough to fit us all, the views, the games, the DVDs, the foosball table. Our kids had several riotously funny games with that one item. We will have to come back because we didn't make a dent in trying the games or watching the movies. You have a good selection of both. The legos were a big hit with the junior set and the teenager. Even if it had rained the whole time, we would have been happy. THANK YOU for not having TV. It was nice to hide from the world. My son-in-law needed to work on Friday, so he was pleased to find an office and internet. That plus a cell phone worked perfectly. We also didn't get to try out all the kitchen toys. All four water craft got extensive usage. I'd never propelled a paddle boat before, but it is fun. I have a bad knee, but I think paddle therapy was good for it. I appreciated the handrails going down to the water. Even some of the youngsters used them on occasion. I could go on for pages and pages. We felt coddled and cared for and cared about. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.”Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

This property is spectacular! We held our family Thanksgiving for 2008 here and it snowed every day. We went skiing at Killington just 15-20 minutes away with walking trails just outside the property. This was a wonderful family retreat with all the amenities. Breathtaking views and the beauty of the mountains just outside your door. Definately a spot to come back to at any season.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our family had an amazing stay at this extremely private and scenic cottage! The views from every room are spectacular, and no picture can do justice to the lake and surroundings. The cottage is clean and well equipped - the owners truly thought of everything. We felt right at home while we cooked meals in the gourmet kitchen, and then shared them on the roomy screened in porch. My advice would be to stay up late, and get up early so you don't miss a minute of star-gazing and sunrises! You may want to book for longer than you anticipated, because we discovered several quaint towns nearby, as well as the days we spent hiking on boating on the lake. Plenty to do for all ages!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Absolutely a 5-Star setting, accommodation, and vacation destination. The house is exquisite, and full of the most modern conveniences. Excellent privacy, and the boathouse, deck, and docks make enjoying the lake, and the night stars a breeze. Perfect for our family and friends. There is just too much good about this place to express in a guestbook. We will cherish our memories forever. Highly recommended--you won't be disappointed. In fact, you may not want to leave. That's how we felt.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
