The Pond House on Cape Cod - a Nature Lover's Delight

New to the vacation rental market in 2008 and strategically located almost in the center of Cape Cod, a modern three bedroom, two full bath nature lover's delight awaits you and your family.........
The Pond House is a light and bright modern Cape Cod home nestled amongst beautiful perennial gardens offering pond views of the middle pond of the three ponds of Centerville. The home abuts the pond with magnificent views from the multidecks, kitchen, dining room and the two second floor bedrooms. The Pond House is strategically located in an upscale residential area almost in the geographic center of Cape Cod (only 6 minutes to Route 6) with most attractions and beaches only 15-30 minutes away including Sandwich Hollows Golf Course (2 miles away). The Pond House is a nature lovers' delight. Bring your canoe or kayak and don't forget your binoculars and your bird books. The Pond House is suited for two couples, a single family or even two families. Total adults is 5, with no more than 10 persons. ALL BEDROOMS HAVE NEW IN-ROOM AIR-CONDITIONERS. We have completely refurbished the house in 2008.
The Pond House is a three season home. The rear of the house is wrapped around by a 600 square foot deck with an adjoining red brick patio. Also, there is a balcony off the second floor master bedroom where you can read the morning paper before breakfast or enjoy a drink before dinner. Here, you can listen to the sounds of the many birds, including heron which make this pond their home. Feel free to have your morning breakfast on the deck where you can view the pond with its many colorful birds. In the evening enjoy your favorite drink before using our gas barbeque grill to cook your meal while listening to the other creatures of the pond and watching the sun set over the Cape. In the spring or the fall enjoy a wood burning fire in the floor to ceiling fireplace in the living room. There is private parking for 3 cars. We hope you will enjoy this home as much as we do when we move in for the quiet winter months. Now onto the beaches...
The Beaches-
Town of Barnstable beaches are excellent. We provide a resident pass to all beaches so you will not have to pay parking and you will be admitted to all the beaches. Here are our suggestions:
1) Dowses Beach - in Osterville. About 20 minutes from the Pond House.
This beach is a '10'. It's clean, you can swim here and the sand is nice.
It's salt water and on Nantucket Sound, so the waves are really not big at all. Perfect for kids. The toilet and bathhouse facilities are ultra clean. It's located in a residential area with beautiful homes. The beach has a guard shack and a large parking area. It is only open to Town of Barnstable residents, so your permit will admit you with no problems. The kids can also observe lots of nature in the abutting marsh areas. And, the most important fact, other than a life guard on duty, is that the ice cream truck visits here in the afternoon. Listen for the music.
Do stop in at Fancy's Market in Osterville after the beach. They have upscale items and freshly baked breads and salads.
2) Craigville Beach- Same as above. Large beach. No real marsh area to view the critters. Only 15 minutes from the Pond House. The beach is open to Town and visitors. Stop in at 'Four Seas' for the best ice cream in the world (even Jackie Kennedy thought so) on your way back and the old country store (great selection of penny candy) a block away.
3) Wequaquet Beach - 8 minutes. About 1/2 mile the way the crow flys. However, it's a two mile drive. This is a fresh water beach on a very large lake. Clean facilities and life guards also. This beach is best for small kids. Please note, this beach usually closes in mid August. So plan on going before August 15th...

This is a very “friendly” hide-away, clean and stocked for every guest. I appreciated your “tips”, verbal and written on how best to enjoy my time in your home and on the Cape. Very peaceful, very quiet, very welcoming.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: Ever since I was a kid my folks use to rent a house for a week in the summer on Cape Cod. Without the interstate highways it would take us a day to drive up from New York City. I still remember the places we use to rent. I now live on Cape Cod since 1992 and in 2008 purchased a home and converted it into a rental home complete with everything from linens to a fully applianced kitchen! I too want now to exetend to my guests what I did as a kid. I hope you enjoy the Pond House and Cape Cod as much as we do now!
Why the Owner Chose Centerville:
Centerville is right in the center of Cape Cod and minutes to the beaches, eateries and other atttractions. You could not find a more central location to explore the Cape.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
No question it's the setting which is nestled in an upscale residental area abutting a pond with lots and lots of life. Great for the kids to watch the turtles, fish or find the salamanders.
