3 Blocks to the Plaza :: a View to Return to
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Historical Downtown
Years ago we hand-built a now somewhat celebrated, environmental strawbale home in the Jemez Mountains above Santa Fe. Ten years ago we decided to purchase an in-town pied a'terre--just a small gem-of-a-place in which we could overnight during shopping trips in Santa Fe. Wanting to get the right place in the right location, we engaged in an eight month exhaustive search and ended up purchasing--not one--but two adobe homes in this historic neighborhood just 3 blocks from the Plaza. They became our first guest homes. Now, in addition to living in this same neighborhood, we manage 8 other guesthomes in the same residential block. Why were we so seduced by this neighborhood? In short, it is partway up the ONLY knoll close to the Plaza. So from within any of our guesthomes, there is a constant sense of place: Our over-the-roof-top-views are of the historic Santa Fe Cathedral against a backdrop of mountain ranges and glorious sunsets. AND WITHIN 4-5 WALKING MINUTES WE ARE DOWNTOWN--RIGHT IN THE VERY HEART OF OLD SANTA FE! Here historic Santa Fe and the glories of our Southwest landscape are bundled into one. Our fascinating guests keep coming back and are now friends. We'll never move!

I had the distinct pleasure to stay here on this, my first trip (along with my wife and mother) to the Southwest. WOW! I should have listened to Horace Greeley a long time ago. The accomodations were so accurately portrayed in the write up, but were also so conveniently located! The Plaza was very close and each night we were there a live band played and the locals danced. El Farol and The Shed are a couple of restaurants I would stongly recommend to experience the local flavors. The Cathedral is awesome, Canyon Rd is great...just go west, stay here, and find out for yourself about Santa Fe! Has somebody already said "Ah'll Be back"?

Thank you for a wonderful stay at Casa la Vista :)! The home is beautiful and comfortable and has been a wonderful home-away-from-home. The location of the home cannot be beat and Santa Fe is infectious. We will surely be back for another visit!
