Light filled, spacious, air-conditioned Casa La Vista is located in a gated compound 3 blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza. Positioned halfway up the only hillside in downtown Santa Fe, its intimate balconys offer views of sunsets and mountain ranges as backdrop to the Cathedral-by-the-Plaza. Designed by an award winning architect/builder, Casa La Vista provides classic Southwest ambiance with its high viga-beam ceilings, sky lights, brick floors and kiva fireplace.
Guests are greeted by two levels of generous living/gathering spaces. The primary level comprises a well equipped kitchen, cozy dining area and spacious, comfortable living room. Bed and bath are tucked discretely behind the kitchen. Lower level showcases a spacious master bedroom suite with copious closet space and a large, sunken Mexican tiled bath/shower that looks out onto a very private, well-maintained garden.
Sleeping accommodations include a king bed in the master bedroom, a choice of king or two twin beds in the second bedroom, and (for children under 18) a large sleeper-sofa in the living room.
With its privacy, spaciousness and convenient location, Casa La Vista offers a view of the Southwest you'll want to return to again and again.

We came to visit our son in Santa Fe, and had a great time. Casa la Vista was clean, comfortable, well-furnished, roomy, and had all the right features along with a generous helping of Western charm. And the location is absolutely perfect - only a few minutes walk to the Plaza and only a few more blocks to our favorite small French restaurant (Clafoutis) and a small shopping center with all the necessities (pharmacy, grocery, etc). We will not hesitate to recommend this complex to our friends, and hope to stay there again on a future visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

I had the distinct pleasure to stay here on this, my first trip (along with my wife and mother) to the Southwest. WOW! I should have listened to Horace Greeley a long time ago. The accomodations were so accurately portrayed in the write up, but were also so conveniently located! The Plaza was very close and each night we were there a live band played and the locals danced. El Farol and The Shed are a couple of restaurants I would stongly recommend to experience the local flavors. The Cathedral is awesome, Canyon Rd is great...just go west, stay here, and find out for yourself about Santa Fe! Has somebody already said "Ah'll Be back"?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Historical Downtown:
Years ago we hand-built a now somewhat celebrated, environmental strawbale home in the Jemez Mountains above Santa Fe. Ten years ago we decided to purchase an in-town pied a'terre--just a small gem-of-a-place in which we could overnight during shopping trips in Santa Fe. Wanting to get the right place in the right location, we engaged in an eight month exhaustive search and ended up purchasing--not one--but two adobe homes in this historic neighborhood just 3 blocks from the Plaza. They became our first guest homes. Now, in addition to living in this same neighborhood, we manage 8 other guesthomes in the same residential block. Why were we so seduced by this neighborhood? In short, it is partway up the ONLY knoll close to the Plaza. So from within any of our guesthomes, there is a constant sense of place: Our over-the-roof-top-views are of the historic Santa Fe Cathedral against a backdrop of mountain ranges and glorious sunsets. AND WITHIN 4-5 WALKING MINUTES WE ARE DOWNTOWN--RIGHT IN THE VERY HEART OF OLD SANTA FE! Here historic Santa Fe and the glories of our Southwest landscape are bundled into one. Our fascinating guests keep coming back and are now friends. We'll never move!
