De-Stress in popular Sugar Bird Nest, downstairs in our home called Sugar Bird Hill! Watch the charming, delightful, yellow-bellied sugar birds and grass quits eat the sugar we put out for them every day! You may feed the Sugar Birds yourselves - I provide the sugar for you, and there is a bird bath next to the feeding station that you may fill with the hose provided, when it gets empty!! Fun, great for photo shots. Also TO HELP YOU DE-STRESS, I HAVE JUST INSTALLED A TOP-OF-THE-LINE JACUZZI!! (WITH COLORED LIGHTS AND A WATERFALL!) WOW! I'VE NAMED IT: "SUGAR BIRD BATH!" It is quiet, private and peaceful, because it's "the house at the end of the road!!" Bushes, trees and plants all around - plus the birds, occasional chickens and two cats, Dusty and Spookey, and a new sausage dog, GiGi! She's really sweet and LOVES all people! She'll come downstairs and visit you!
Watch the gorgeous sunsets, from your balcony, or the upstairs balcony, bring your cocktails, snacks and listen to Lee play her Rosewood, 1889 Weber Grand Piano for sunset time! And if you are lucky, you MAY see the "green flash!" Lee plays Streisand, Sinatra, Crosby, Garland, Tony Bennett, etc. and all the "old love songs of yesteryear" for your enjoyment, before you go off to dinner at one of our fabulous restaurants!
It's just a 5 minute or less, drive up to Sugar Bird Hill from Cruz Bay town - so you can get to dinner in 5 to 10 minutes! The beaches are only 10 minutes away or less. This one bedroom apt is in its third year on the short-term market! Come visit us, and see why renters are coming back - everyone loves it here! You'll love two cats, Dusty and Spookey.
Lee has published a children's picture book! Named: "MARSHMELLOW LITTLE CLOUD DISCOVERS AN ISLAND!" She has some on hand which she will autograph, with the child's name and a little message to the child! The book is about St. John, as seen from the eyes of a little cloud above the island, watching what is going on down below! Her second book is nearly out, the artist is painting the drawings now. This one is called: "Marshmellow Little Cloud Discovers England."
They are part of a children's travelog series. Marshmellow is going to visit many lands, far away!!

There are lots more too, I can give you further names. Or rent on St. Thomas and take the car barge over. You can shop on the way in St. Thomas if you get in early enough. The last barge every day is at 6:30 p.m. so keep that in mind when you rent on St. Thomas!!

Why the Owner Chose Cruz Bay
We didn't choose to buy this vacation rental. We built our home, starting in 1994, and have made the downstairs apartment into a rental!!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
We love the quiet, peacefulness and beauty of the area! St. Thomas is across the Pillsbury Sound, with lots and lots of islands all around in the beautiful shimmering blue sea! Sail boats, motor boats, fishing boats, ferries and car barges all going about their business in the Sound. The sun sets over St. Thomas and is gorgeous every night! We see lots of rainbows too. We have 180 degree views. FANTASTIC! Sunsets, rainbows - the whole works! (We often see the "Green Flash" too, when the air is really clear!) I'll show you how to see it!!

Lee has started her 18th year living on St. John. She loves to make music - singing and playing her grand piano and the organ at her church. She still works full time and loves it, and can't imagine ever being retired! She belongs to several groups, officer in the St. John Yacht Club, and sings with the St. John Singers, and her little children's picture book came out last year! The title is: "Marshmellow Little Cloud Discovers an Island." (St. John, of course.) You can get one from her, which she will autograph with the child's name, and a little message to the child. She's just completed her second childrens' picture book - "Marshmellow Little Cloud Discovers England." She is also a proud member of the MAM's Group! Meaning "Middle Age Majorettes". We practice a dance routine and march in the 4th of July parade, in interesting costumes! Come on out and enjoy our beautiful parade! In addition to being the office manager and secretary at a large Real Estate Firm, she is the Administrative Assistant at her church, St. Ursula's Episcopal church.She likes to work out and exercise.

My wife and I had the greatest time at this place. Lee was such a great host. Very easy going, willing to show you the town. She was very nice and really made the overall experience that much better. We highly recommend her dwelling place and give high ratings for the Sugar Bird Nest. Thanks Lee.

It's just like the pictures only better. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. Great service,kind hospitality. Few minutes from town ,many restaurants and shops.North shore beaches take a shuttle they are beautiful. Staying at the Sugar Bird's Nest is delightful!!!!

The apartment was great. Nice and clean. The owner is friendly and was very helpful with our questions. I will definitely recommend this property to my friends and relatives. We hiked and kayaked, snorkeled and swam. What wonderful beaches and clear warm water. We really enjoyed our evenings watching the sunset and listening to Lee play her grand piano. We even sang together once or twice. Really a great place to stay. Up on the hill with gentle breezes and a great view.

High atop a hill near Cruz Bay sits Sugar Bird Nest. Complete with a well stocked kitchen, clean airy living spaces, a laundry, a fantastic sprawling porch with lovely views and best of all Lee, long time resident of St. John and a wonderful resource for St. John dining recommendations, activities, general island information and so much more. A five minute Jeep ride up hill and away from Cruz Bay, and safely tucked behind an electronic gate, we felt like we were in out own world surrounded by lush greenery and brilliantly colored bougainvillea. The jacuzzi was a welcomed amenity after a long day of hiking, snorkeling and swimming. Very entertaining was the musical talent revue night at Sun Dog Cafe and the day cruise to Virgin Gorda with Cruz Bay Watersports was a blast. Another highlight from our trip was the day sail with Capt. Bob. We smiled for 8 straight days! We will already planning our next vacation at Sugar Bird Nest!! Thank you for everything Lee.

I was thinking my trip to st. john this past spring and realized that i forgot to write a review of our excellent stay...I've been to st. john many times and never enjoyed such a wonderful, relaxing stay as I did at sugar bird nest. Lee is a wonderful woman and truly makes you feel at home. The views are beautiful and although you are conveniently close to town, you feel as if you were far away because of the serenity. We spent our mornings watching the sugar birds feed and our evenings watching the sun set. The property is maintained perfectly and you know that your hostess truly cares about your comfort and enjoyment. I highly recommend you choose sugar bird nest for your stay!!!

I would give 10 stars if I could! The pictures didn't do it justice. This property was spotless and perfect! AMAZING view, beautiful flowers everywhere, 3 minutes from town but peaceful and quiet at the same time, fully stocked kitchen, beaches only 5 minutes away! Lee the owner is the best hostess that I've ever come across. She met us at the car barge to escort us to the property after a quick tour of Cruz Bay and had a great welcome gift basket waiting for us when we came in. She was so eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible and she really made for an amazing trip. Thanks Lee! Beach chairs, ice chests, towels, washer & dryer, you name it, it's all here for you to use. In addition, the hot tub was formerly owned by Kenny Chesney! Already planning our trip back to Sugar Bird Nest!

My wife and I spent the month of February with Lee, Schatzi, and Dusty at Sugar Bird Nest. What a delightful time. Not only did we feel like we were at home but we left feeling like family. This delightful residence has everything you will need. It is conveniently located close to town on a good paved road. Remember you are in the Islands and not all roads are created equal. You can walk to town but there are some hills, so I would recomend renting a car unless you don't mind walking up hill. Another plus is won't need a four wheel drive to get to and from your home away from home. Cosider renting your car at the airport in St. Thomas and bringing it over on the ferry via Red Hook. Ask the rental agent if they allow you to take it to St. John. This will save you time and make your travel to Red Hook a breeze. Cars are also available on St. John. We plan to visit again as soon as we can. Enjoy. Harry and Rose
