Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 6)
You will never forget your stay in this luxuriously appointed, utterly charming "jewel box" of an apartment on the magical island of Ile St. Louis. The beauty of our Parisian pied-a-terre is exceeded only by its perfect location.
"Juliette" can accommodate from 1 - 6 people (5 adults, maximum) and is especially well-suited for a romantic retreat, a "girls" getaway, or a small family.
Originally constructed in 1642, renovations were overseen by an award-winning French movie set designer; virtually every element is custom, from the 17th century hardwood floors to the hand-painted Renaissance era beams and exposed stonework. Nestled between the Left Bank (Latin Quarter) and Right Bank (the hip Marais district), our little "island on the Seine" enchants with its narrow, cobblestone-lined streets filled with cafes, art galleries, gourmet restaurants, patisseries, chocolatiers and elegant boutiques selling antiques, traditional produce and fine foods and flowers. The "Ile" is also home to the world famous glacier (ice cream purveyor) Berthillon, which is literally around the corner from the apartment. It is a five-minute walk to Notre Dame, and a short Metro ride (or walk) to every major tourist attraction and shopping area. This picture-perfect location - a favorite of visiting Americans and Europeans -- is everything you've imagined Paris to be. You will feel exceedingly comfortable and safe in this enchanting neighborhood.
Upon entering, you will be embraced by Juliette's warmth and unique character, which was lovingly created by its former owner, the wife of a French Senator, who scoured the flea markets and villages around Paris to create the ambiance of 17th Century France. At the same time, the apartment boasts the latest, modern amenities -- from WiFi and high-end appliances to luxury linens and a spacious, American style shower -- to make your stay completely convenient and comfortable.
LOWER LEVEL
One enters a foyer equipped with an antique writing desk and bookcase filled with Paris guidebooks. The downstairs bedroom features two beds - a double in an alcove flanked by two spacious wardrobes, plus a second twin bed neatly tucked under stairs leading to a romantic, low-ceilinged upstairs loft.
The large living space is spacious yet warm, and filled with wonderful antiques. A 17th century ship captain's safe serves as a stand for a flat-screen TV, and an 18th century portrait graces an antique hearth, which faces a comfortable daybed (which can accommodate a sixth guest). The space is illuminated by a beautiful crystal chandelier. A pretty dining table sits adjacent to the kitchen, fully equipped with everything you need to create the perfect French cuisine, including a famous "La Cornue" stove (the Rolls Royce of French cooking equipment), microwave and complete complement of utensils, pots, pans, china and glassware. Cable television, DVD and CD player are accompanied by a selection of music and French-themed American movies to complete the ambiance. The downstairs bath features a spacious, American-style shower and wash basin. The lavatory is in a separate room, with a unique ship captain's wash basin that complements the nautical theme. There is also a Miele washer/dryer combination.
THE ROMANTIC LOFT
You may not want to leave your nest in the cozy upstairs loft, with a king sized bed adjacent to an en suite bathroom with that features a wonderful Napoleonic era claw foot tub -- a perfect place to soak after a long day on the cobblestones. It also includes a sink and lavatory. Please note that the loft ceiling, while adding to the unique charm of this property, will require ducking for anyone of serious stature; the loft is also open to the area below; if you require absolute privacy, please consider our equally lovely and well-situated alternative listing, VRBO #224018, Petite Maison, which also accommodates five adults.
A greenery-filled window box is framed by a large floor-to-ceiling French window, which bathes the apartment in light.
With its perfect central location and beautiful interior, updated with all the modern conveniences, this very special apartment will make your visit to Paris all the more memorable. Juliette is a very special place from which to explore all the best that Paris has to offer.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4
Alan had the pleasure of studying medicine in France, where he became enamored with its people, culture and beauty (and undoubtedly a few French women). Fortunately for Michelle, he waited for her to arrive on the scene, ultimately proposing to her on bent knee in front of Notre Dame -- smack in the middle of our two properties on Ile St. Louis and the Left Bank. (We can most certainly offer advice on all things romantic in Paris!) What better place to buy a pied a terre than where our story began .......
For years, while staying in hotels on our annual visits, we dreamt of owning our own little pied a terre in the City of Light. We discovered Juliette while "just looking for fun" with the real estate agent who sold us Petite Maison (our Left Bank property, VRBO #224018). One glance, and we were in love. For those seeking an authentic experience, and wanting to feel immersed in the beauty of 17th century France, Juliette is a one-of-a kind experience, a gorgeous apartment literally oozing with warmth & charm. Tess calls it a "French Fairy Tale," a sentiment echoed by our younger guests. And Ile St. Louis is probably the single most sought-after location in Paris for visitors -- a virtual village on an island in the center of Paris, and most importantly (according to Alan & Tess), home of the famous Berthillon ice cream flagship store -- a short 1 minute walk from our front door. We couldn't pass on the opportunity to own such a beautiful place in such an amazing location.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
Luxury robes & linens, comfortable beds, crystal chandeliers, beautiful antiques (including a 17th century ship captain's safe) and a stunning 18th century hearth (with working fireplace). A three-minute walk: Notre Dame, a Metro to all the major attractions and an array of wonderful shops, art galleries, creperies, tea salons & bistros. A five minute walk: the lively Latin Quarter, Ile de la Cite and the oh so chic, yet bohemian, Marais. Most importantly, we take special care with our guests, offering our personal recommendations on things to do and see. And our really fabulous Paris-based management company can help arrange airport transfers, securing French cell phones, making reservations and be waiting with even warm croissants and cafe upon your arrival. We call our company Perfect Paris, because we strive to ensure that every moment of your valuable vacation time is just that -- perfect.

Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 4
We're Alan, Michelle & Tess Heilpern, the "Three Muskateers" as we like to call ourselves -- certainly an appropriate name when we're staying in Juliette, our jewel of the Renaissance on Ile St. Louis. We're pictured having loads of fun (in front of the Louvre) in our favorite city on earth.
Our full-time habitat is Los Angeles where we enjoy basking in the sunny weather. But whenever we get a chance, we're staying in one of our Parisian homes away from home.
Alan is an Emergency Physician; Michelle a former health care executive now happily marketing our two fantastic Parisian apartments on VRBO (don't miss our other listing, #224018, Petite Maison). Thirteen-year-old Tess knows Paris inside and out, having traveled here regularly since she was an infant. An afficianado of Berthillon ice cream, French cheese and Angelina's hot chocolate, she has developed an impressive array of recommendations for kids staying in our properties.
