The Giudecca

The studio apartment is located on the Giudecca island which is a heavenly retreat with a special atmosphere all its own. Inhabited almost entirely by locals and situated apart from the hordes of tourists (with very few hotels except for the legendary Cipriani and the new Molina Stucky Hilton), the Giudecca is Venice’s best-kept secret. The Giudecca offers the best views in Venice: from the northern waterfront, where you can dine on delicious food at the Do Mori, Harry’s Dolce or Cip’s, you can see over to the Dorsoduro, the island of San Giorgio, and of course San Marco and the Doge’s Palace; from the sunny southern side, there are panoramic views across the lagoon.

You can easily reach the boat (vaporetto) stop "Palanca" by taking the 41/42 or the 2 and the stop is only a 2 minute walk from the apartment. The vaporetti go to the train station, to the Lido, San Marco Square (within 10 minutes, Murano and across the canal in 3 minutes to the "Zattere" where the Guggenheim Museum and the Academia Bridge is located. It is also home to the Church of the Redentore, built in honour of Christ the Redeemer by Palladio in the late 16th century.

Located just off the Fondameta on the ground floor, this one bedroom/one bath independant studio apartment has its own entrance and was just totally renovated and comes fully furnished and includes central air conditioning and free wireless internet. It is sparkling clean and everything works. It offers a modern living/dining area, spacious kitchen with refrigerator, range with gas cooking and dishwasher. Washer and dryer are also included with detergent & water softner. The color TV with satellite dish provides you with a large selection of channels to choose from along with an iron and ironing board and even a blow dryer for your convenience.

Local shopping is very convenient with a fresh fish market & fresh vegtable stand right down the fondementa and a "large" grocery store located just around the corner.

Minimum of 3 Nights. Longer terms welcome.
The final cleaning service of €50 to €75 is to be added at check-out. Daily cleaning & laundry service available on request.
Our price is inclusive of utilities, gas, electricity and free high speed Wi-Fi service.
Discounts are offered for stays that are one week and over.

Away From the Crowds

Guest: Sandra and Jimm (Bothell, WA)
Date of Stay: 09/24/11 Review Submitted: 11/17/11

We loved being away from all the crowds of tourists but still able to have a view of San Marco as we ate outside along the water. The apartment was pristine and Noel, the manager was very helpful showing us how to operate air conditioning, etc. He even showed us how to make our morning espresso! We had everything we needed and the location was perfect for all our needs. Larry, the owner, was always helpful when we asked for information. One doesn't need to pack the travel books bought at home as there are plenty of them in the apartment. The only bad thing was that we couldn't stay longer. The price was reasonable as compared to staying in a hotel. We like to prepare some of our own meals and everything we needed was there for us to do that. If you want a good, quiet and charming location, this is the place for you.

Great Place to Stay!!!

We found this listing accurate (apartment even nicer than depicted) and owners information was Excellent -he had someone meet us when we arrived to show us how to work everything. The apartment was totally clean, comfortable & well designed. The owner gave us a list before we arrived with locations of local places and their hours & his reviews, Very helpful. - this apartment is on the ground floor, the canal (& vaporetto stop) just a few steps away yet the street is quiet & peaceful all night.A ten minute walk gets you to a wonderful restaurant called "Lastorio Cria" in the boatyard up a long flight of stairs -absolutely delicious and super service. We would definitely (and already have) recommended this apartment to friends & relatives.

Great way to experience Venice

Guest: David (Asheville, NC, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/14/11 Review Submitted: 11/15/11

The apartment was every bit as good as promised, and they took care of anything we needed very promptly. Everything was in great condition and well-supplied. (Although I confess we never got around to using the TV or DVD player as we were much too busy enjoying the area!) The best part was the location. Giudecca really is a "retreat" from the crowds, very peaceful and a great place to just stroll and look across to the sights of Venice. It is just a few steps from the vaporetti dock which was just 5 minutes across the water to all the major sights. If I were ever to come back I would make sure to stay here again.

We had such a wonderful and very comfortable stay in the apartment on Giudecca. It's a very easy hop on the boat over to Venice and a very nice reprieve from the crowds at the end of each day. I would certainly recommend staying here and if we are lucky enough to return to Venice, we shall certainly stay again!

This apartment is a great find!

Guest: Bettina (New Zealand)

We stayed here during May and had a lovely time. Larry was very helpful and had many tips and advice for us 'first-time-visitors-to-venice' right from the beginning. The apartment was easy to get to, very comfortable and unbeatable for the location in quiet Giudecca but only a very short trip to town by vaporetti. Great views across to the city - loved our breakfasts & coffee at Palanca bar. Definitely recommend this holiday rental.

A haven on peaceful Guidecca, but so close to everything!

Guest: Lover of Venice! (Walnut Creek, California, USA)
Date of Stay: 06/15/11 Review Submitted: 07/14/11

This apartment was absolutely immaculate and the best equipped of the many we rented during our stay in Italy. It is much more attractive than the photos can possibly show, and our experience there exceeded our expectations! No amenity was overlooked, including green products for personal care. We were met promptly and given a tour of the unit, so we knew where everything was and how it worked. Nothing was left to chance. It was heavenly to arrive back at the apartment after long days of exploration, as it was so cool and inviting. Situated in a residential area made it fun to explore in the evening and it was wonderfully quiet compared to the chaos of the main tourist area, although it was so very close and easy to access whenever we wished. Larry's suggestions were very helpful, from directions and dining to sightseeing. We cooked a few meals there, as we wanted an authentic experience and enjoy cooking from the local abundance. Purchasing food from the handy markets, and navigating such a complete kitchen made our goal easy. Our favorite thing to do was to sit out on the fondementa and enjoy watching the locals greet one another, walk their dogs and engage in their everyday activities. The backdrop for all of this was the water and all the interesting boat traffic coming and going, not to mention the fabulous view! Our only regret was not having more time to spend at this wonderful property!

I wish I was there right this minute!

Date of Stay: 05/04/11 Review Submitted: 06/10/11

My mom and I spent three lovely nights in this apartment at the beginning of what ultimately turned into a month long adventure in Italy, and we were very pleased with the entire experience! As most reviewers have mentioned, the Giudecca is absolutely the way to go if you're more interested in experiencing a local flavor of Venetian culture and lifestyle (in fact I'm almost hesitant to highlight this gem to the masses and threaten what a reprieve it is from the main islands), and we found this particular apartment to fit us perfectly. Retiring to the Giudecca after a day of exploring the main islands of Venice was an absolute delight. You can sit and gaze at the famous Venetian skyline from the waterfront cafes only steps away from the apartment door, stroll along the fondamenta with the locals taking their evening walks, jump on a vaporetto for adventures on the other Venetian islands, and experience Venice without the occasionally distracting streams of tourists that populate the other islands. The bed and convertible sofa were fantastic for us both, and I happened to be having sciatica issues at the time. The kitchen was well equipped (the dishwasher was apparently out of order, but we didn't care) and enabled us to cook for ourselves, as this is something we love to do and wanted to be able to use the bounty of divine produce, meats, cheeses, and breads we bought from the Rialto markets in addition to eat the local cuisine prepared for us at restaurants. The decor of the apartment is great (love the sparkly marble floors, it was like walking on a starry sky!), the washer/dryer indispensable for a long stay, and the bathtub a rarity based on my experience on renting apartments in Italy. The neighborhood is lovely, with great food and sights. The owner of the apartment went above and beyond in making the exact details of transportation options explicitly clear and easy to follow, and they have great suggestions for any needs/desires you might have in terms of experiencing Venice. Communication and transactional processes were seamless and comforting given the inevitable slight leap of faith renting an apartment internationally requires. My husband and I are planning a trip for May of 2012, and we plan on staying here again! Book it!

A comfortable home on the Giudecca

Guest: Douglas and David (Toronto, Canada)
Date of Stay: 03/31/11 Review Submitted: 06/08/11

Having visited Venice many times, we are now convinced that staying on the Giudecca is our location of choice. This apartment was extremely quiet even though it is on the piano terra. Spotlessly clean and spacious, it was a comfortable home for the three weeks of our stay. Mr Davis was very accommodating.

We really enjoyed staying at this property. I feel it's a good value for the price. The surround area of Giudecca has good restaurants and a great place for morning coffee. The location is also convenient to the rest of Venice with a quick one-stop ride on the vaporetto.
