Siren's Song, a Luxury Oceanfront Villa with Fabulous Views

Why the Owner Chose Botany Bay

The beauty of the landscapes, seascapes, sunrises, sunsets and unpolluted night skies; the closeness of nature with tropical flowers, chattering parrots, sea birds, humming birds, families of deer and countless other species; the pristine coral reefs teeming with different varieties of tropical fish; the peace, tranquility and serenity have captured our souls. I lived within the National Park on St John for over 10 years, but Estate Botany Bay is so much closer to paradise, and all modern conveniences are just a short drive away.

The Unique Benefits at this House

You're away from the maddening crowds, yet the hubbub and energy of downtown Charlotte Amalie, with all the duty free shops; ferries to St John, St Croix and the British Virgin Islands; boat trips; scuba diving boats; sunset cruises and countless other activities are about 20 minutes drive. The fishermen and world class restaurants of Frenchtown are about 15 minutes drive. For those who enjoy "getting away from it all there is nothing like sailing around the deserted islands off the West End of St Thomas, or deep sea fishing or fishing off the rocks of Little St Thomas, or meditating on the beach at Mermaids Chais

Owner's Map of Botany Bay

Marshall was born and raised in Alabama and Florida and has all that southern hospitality. I was born and raised in England, but I've lived in the USA for almost 25 years. Marshall and I met at Estate Botany Bay on St Thomas and neither of us would want to live anywhere else. We just love it here. We are both retired and our home is on the adjacent lot to Siren’s Song. We’ve travelled the world and have never found anywhere as awesome as this. Come visit and experience this magical place, our special piece of heaven. Lynda and Marshall Hartmann.

Lovely Villa

Guest: Marsha W.
Date of Stay: 05/26/11 Review Submitted: 08/02/11

I was there in May and had a great time. However, I feel the owners need to provide a larger quantity of towels and beach towels. Our group had 13 people and barely one towel person. After cleaning day, my room had two towels in it but the bathmat was gone. Also, the bed covers need to ALL be replaced. Several have tears in them. The beach towels are old, worn, stained and some had holes in them. Not appropriate for luxury accomodations. It's not sensible to have to pack beach towels in luggage. Also, the clothes dryer needs to have the exhaust vent cleaned. It took 2-1/2 hours for a load of towels to dry. Having two refrigerators in the kitchen was wonderful. No other complaints. The views were spectacular.

Owner response:We're so sorry you had these issues and thanks so much for letting us know. We have bought new linens and are throwing out those not up to our high standards. Our maintenance man has cleaned the dryer exhaust vent and we have put this task on scheduled maintenance. We are also upgrading our housekeeping service. We wish you had told us at the time and we would have fixed these issues immediately. We are committed to keeping Siren's Song in tip top shape and worthy of 6 stars.

Alaskan Vacation

We found the property to meet or exceed all expectations. Everything was well maintained and we had access to assistance as needed (but not needed really). The owner's representative met us at the airport and guided us to the property. We were given a property tour and shown how everything works. We had one elderly couple with mild limitations and they were able to fully enjoy this vacation here. There was something for everyone including fishing, shopping, hiking, deer, secluded beaches (three within hiking distance from the property - but also with auto access). snorkeling, and diving. A car is a requirement here as town is a moderate (20-25 minutes) drive. The views from the house and the pool are breathtaking. We have stayed in many nice places around the Caribbean but this one holds a special place in our hearts. It is in a secluded spot but not far from Charlotte Amalie for those seeking shopping or night life. The listing gives an accurate description of the property and the photos simply do not do it justice. If you think the pictures look great - just wait til you arrive and see the real thing. I highly recommend a vacation in this spot. When you go out to eat look for the place with the Green shutters (that are wide open) right on the waterfront (sorry but I have forgotten the name). It has great food and a really fun atmosphere. The happy hour is good as well. You can pick it out as many of the workers in the shops hit that spot after the cruise ships leave and the shops close. I do recommend getting a schedule of cruise ship arrivals and avoiding town on the busiest days. Days with only 1-3 ships are best. Also if you go to Megan's beach. do so on a day with fewer cruise ships or go in the late afternoon as the cruise folk will be leaving. That is definitely worth a trip while on St Thomas. When you go for a drive, plan plenty of time, drive slowly and enjoy the views (the roads are narrow and very curvy with little or no shoulder). The driver must pay attention carefully. Best if there are multiple drivers so you can take turns as it is difficult to observe the scenery and drive at the same time. Don't forget that there is a Ferry to St John Island that can be done in a nice day trip - very worthwhile. I highly recommend a longer stay here (over 1 week) as it will give you time to settle into the pace of Island life and explore this place leisurely.

Spring Break 2010 at Siren's Song

What a fabulous house and vacation spot! The location is amazing and we felt like Robin Leach was going to show up to feature us on the lifestyles of the rich and famous! haha. There were 16 of us--10 adults, 4 teens and 2 tweens. Everyone had a memorable experience. The pool is ideal. The snorkeling from Mermaids Chair outstanding and two of the guys enjoyed the kayaking. We made almmost all our meals in and thus, the 3 refrigerators were so helpful. Highly recommend this location to anyone wanting to truly get away to paradise!
