Trastevere is a picturesque medieval neighborhood located on the west bank of the Tiber. It is an ideal place for wandering around the narrow lanes and beautiful squares that still retain the authentic character of ancient Rome: low buildings with wooden roofs and terracotta walls in warm colors.
In the past Trastevere, named for its position ‘over the Tiber’, was populated with artisans, fishermen, merchants and a foreign community connected with the activities of the nearby port. Today it is considered one of the most enchanting /evocative areas of the eternal city. Visitors are charmed when walking, and losing themselves in the fascinating lanes and squares.
The place to start from is, without doubt, the heart of Trastevere, the piazza of Santa Maria in Trastevere. In front of the lovely fountain, there is the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere, the oldest church in the city, dating back to the 3rd century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Just around the corner, in the famous Vicolo del Piede, there is your apartment. Elegant and refined, it is situated on the second floor of a small, ancient building.
The apartment is equipped with every comfort, taking care of the smallest detail. Even though it is located in a lively neighborhood, it is in a quiet and tranquil position. The apartment consists of a sitting-room, with a dining area, furnished with a double sofa-bed and a pouf which can be transformed into a single bed. Near the sitting-room you will find a kitchen area, equipped with all the necessary utensils for the preparation of your meals. The bedroom has a double bed and a spacious wardrobe. The bathroom is comfortable with a large shower.
On request, a cot and a high-chair for our small guests can be provided. The apartment is fully air-conditioned. In addition to the apartment being exclusive, given its excellent central position, its distinctive feature is the splendid view in Vicolo del Piede, with a glimpse of the oldest church in the city. The area is full of good restaurants, pizzeria, supermarkets, grocery stores.
In addition 50 feet from the apartment, in Piazza San Cosimato, you will find an open fruit and vegetables market and just in front of the apartment, a very good characteristic restaurant, various bars and cafés. All the winding streets and alleys become animated, especially in the warmer months, when tables spill out onto the sidewalks and the streets and piazzas become a large meeting place or ‘salotto’.
The area is well-serviced by public transport going to the historical centre via the tramline No. 8. A ten-minute walk leads straight to Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona and the entire centre. The Trastevere railway station is a few stops away via tram.

Walking down viale Trastevere or with tram n°8, you can easily reach Largo di Torre Argentina, Piazza Farnese, Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, and the Pantheon. In Largo di Torre Argentina, you will find many buses for the Vatican, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this apartment in Oct. 2011. Before we came, we had no idea where in Rome we were staying or how close or far we were in relation to all the sights. We took the Taxi ride from the airport, it was nice to not have to think about what to do after a 14 hour flight. Maria met us at the apartment and showed us around. We settled in and went out to see the sights. We stayed 5 days in this apartment and both of us fell in love with this Piazza. How great it was to be able to stay in a place that everyone else was visiting or walking through. You CANNOT get this experience this if you stay in a hotel!! The Trastevere section of Rome is a place filled with young adults, and lots of excitement. This apartment is close to the bus line that will take you everywhere you can imagine, if you are not afraid to get lost a few times like us. By the end of our trip we were almost like the locals and I even got asked several times in Italian for the correct directions. My only difficulty was not having Wifi in the apartment. The Wifi is in a Cafe downstairs from the apartment. They stay open late, but it was hard to get a hold of our family during the time zone differences. I would for sure stay here again, while doing a few traveling arrangements differently, because now I know how to use all of the least expensive modes of transportation.

We visited Rome in March 2011 and stayed in this apartment in Trastevere for 6 nights and indeed it was everything as advertized. We were personally met by Maria the owner who was very nice and showed us the apartment and recommended some restaurants nearby. It was very clean and had all the amennities one could expect. After coming in from long days of sighseeing it was so relaxing to come into this quiet apartment. The location was excellent and conveniently located near transportations, restaurants, and cafes. We would definitely stay here again.

We visited Rome in October 2010 and stayed in the apartment. What a beautiful property in such a trendy location of Rome! We were personally met by Maria the owner who was very accommodating and showed us the apartment and the local areas nearby. She even organized her own transport for us when we left Rome. A renovated modern and clean apartment that offered all the necessary amenities for a very comfortable stay! It is in a very central and convenient location. The apartment has many restaurants, bars, and cafes nearby. We would highly recommend this apartment to any of our friends and relatives! We would definitely stay here again. Thanks again Maria, we really enjoyed our Roman oasis!

My husband and I stayed here in early May 2010. The owner was very easy to work with and the apartment was very clean and cozy and very well-situated.
Owner response: The house is equipped with city maps and indicates the address of the nearest supermarket to the apartment, unfortunately sometimes lose these visitors with information sheets and then those who come after them don't found.I'm always available to help my guests at any their request.

I stayed at this apartment in Trastevere for 6 nights and indeed it was a sweet little home. It was very clean and looked liked the pictures although it was very compact. However, I was travelling alone so it was suitable for my needs and I am used to Canadian sized living spaces! It would also be good for a couple. The location was excellent and conveniently located right across the alley from a well priced and good restaurant. The owner of the apartment was extremely helpful and very prompt with returning correspondence. The only thing I would have liked just for saving time would have been a small map of Trastevere that pointed out the location of grocery stores and other ammenities as it took me 2 days to find a grocery store! There is wifi at the cafe on the corner and lots of lively nightlife - a very fun, edgy part of Rome to stay in. The tourist information, bus and street car line are just down the road and it was a great location, would definitely recommend. After coming in from long days of sighseeing and crowds it was a blessing to come into this quiet apartment and relax...
