About this property

This comfortable beach condo has been completely renovated (and dog proofed) with stainless steel kitchen, Italian-tile floors, marbleized bathroom, and patio. Walk out the back gate onto Dog Beach for an off-leash stroll with your pooch (all breeds, all sizes, up to 6) 24/7.

Enjoy the Snowy Egrets, pelicans, ducks, and sandpipers in the estuary; meander along the bike path for other birdwatching and wildlife viewing; follow the nature trail on the beach; take a two-minute walk West along the bike path to the public (no-dog) beach; take a two-minute walk East along the bike path to the skateboard park or tennis courts; or just watch the surf crash on the rocks.

The main shopping area of 'OB' (Ocean Beach) is within walking distance, including antique row. So is fishing on the channel or surfing near the OB pier. Nearby tennis, gym, pickle-ball. Restaurants range from the quick-and-cheap to on-the-waterfront-moderately-pricey. There are many nightspots. You will not want to miss this last-of-the-original beach town atmosphere complete with a street fair every Wednesday.

Ocean Beach is centrally located. It is a ten-minute drive to Mission Valley shopping malls, Sea World, Balboa Park, Old Town, Downtown San Diego, Petco Park, soccer Stadium, and the main airport. It is 20-30 minutes to the Tiajuana border, Wild Animal Park, and Legoland.

You should obtain travel insurance to protect you if you need to cancel for any reason. Unexpected circumstances, change of plans, or “emergencies” are not reasons for refund, rebate, or release from contractual obligations.

If you cancel your reservation more than 90 days before occupancy, we will refund what you paid for rent [except for 15% of the total rental amount] and cleaning. We will not refund any other charges (e.g. booking/service fees, and merchant credit card charges, etc.)].

If you cancel your reservation 90 days or less before occupancy, we will refund the cleaning fee and damage deposit. But we reserve the right to keep/collect the total rental amount, tax, and other charges (e.g. booking and service fees, merchant credit card charges, etc.).

Perfect access to Dog Beach!

My daughters and I (and our two dogs) had a lovely stay at this property! It was comfortable, reasonably priced, very dog friendly, had a lovely garden with a backyard gate that went directly to a paved walk to the dog-friendly beach! Fully equipped with linens and kitchen supplies. Very kind owner met us and showed us around. Thank you!

Great location for dog beach

This location can't be beat if you're heading to the dog beach. It was a nice size for our family of three and two dogs. I wouldn't recommend for 2 families. If you're planning to cook, i recommend bringing your own cooking equipment. Beach gear was also very run down, so bring your own. Overall, we had a great experience here and would stay again.

OB Get Away

We loved the convince and proximity to the beach and all the restaurants. This is our third time staying here and we loved it. Our dog loves it too!

Dog Beach

Great place to stay with dogs. Outside gate for bringing in wet sandy dogs awesome. Very quiet place considering the neighborhood except of course the airplanes. But if you love Ocean Beach then you don’t mind them. The host was very friendly, we just had trouble with connecting before we arrived. Thanks!

Hi. I'm a retired lawyer. My hobbies are playing duplicate bridge and watching football...not at the same time! I completely renovated this unit, inside and out. It was a true labor of love so it is near to my heart. I try to maintain it in top condition. It's near to most places you'd want to visit in San Diego and borders the beach. The Wild Animal Park and the Tiajuana border are about 20-30 minutes away. Naval bases are 10-12 minutes. It's about a mile off Interstate 8 that connects with the other freeways. I love Ocean Beach. It's one of the original So. California beach towns.

Why they chose this property

There's just no place like Ocean Beach in my eyes. I love it here. It's a very relaxed natural atmosphere; no 'artificial environment' like you find in some other communities. I walked my dogs on Dog Beach every Friday afternoon for 25 years. Finally, I knew I had to make it permanent. Ocean Beach as a community is very dog-friendly. There are even some outdoor dining establishments that allow your dog to lie at your feet while you dine. And there are usually some dog-centric events such as the annual 'wiener-dog' races on Dog Beach and a huge dog-costume contest for Halloween. There's a Farmer's Market every Wednesday afternoon and lots of community events such as kite-flying in March, Christmas parade, beach-blanket bingo,and sand castles after Thanksgiving, etc..

What makes this property unique

Dog Beach is a very unique location because it is probably the last of the California beaches open to off-leash dogs 24/7. The others (that I know of) have very limited hours and they are usually very early am or late pm.

Also, this is one of very few properties in OB that have direct beach access. Most other properties in OB access the beach by a walk, crossing a street, stairways, etc. This property is adjacent to Dog Beach and is accessed out the back gate and down a very short path.
