TripAdvisor awarded Casa Perla del Mar Top Vacation Rental in Tulum in both 2011 & 2012. Designed by acclaimed architect Ismael Diaz, Casa Perla is a premiere Mediterranean-style villa along the Mayan Riviera. It is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or an unforgettable vacation with family and friends. This unique and spacious home is nestled between the blue Caribbean and the luscious Mayan jungle. To insure your total relaxation, our staff is available 6 days a week to clean and prepare dinner upon request. Cost of food is not included.
With meticulous attention to detail, Casa Perla reflects the rich color, texture and artistry of the Yucatan. It features unique hand stenciling throughout the home as is traditional in the beautiful haciendas of the region. All of the doors, cabinets and furniture are locally handmade with the finest craftsmanship.
Three of the 4 bedrooms have king-size beds and the 4th has 1 bunk bed - perfect for children. Each has a picture postcard view of the sea or jungle, top-of-the-line Sealy Pillow Top mattresses, custom handmade draperies with blackout lining, and air conditioning for a restful sleep on imported 600 thread-count sheets.
Every bedroom has a private bathroom with sinks and countertops cut from local stones and exquisite fossilized shells. Each is appointed with the highest quality 100% Turkish cotton towels.
Casa Perla boasts two well-appointed kitchens with gorgeous Mexican granite countertops. You will arrive to find each fully stocked including a coffee maker, blender and microwave. The downstairs kitchen is poolside so you are just steps away from an ice-cold Mexican beer or chips and freshly made guacamole.
Each of Casa Perla’s kitchens have a view of the jungle and the stunning Mayan sunset. It’s not unusual to see an amazing array of colorful birds. Our binoculars and books will help you to identify them though it will be easy to spot our gorgeous pink flamingos!
The upstairs dining room seats 8 comfortably and 6 can be seated downstairs.
Each of the two large family rooms features a 42” flat screen TV and opens to one of our four outdoor verandas.
In addition to our verandas, Casa Perla has a rooftop deck with stunning 360-degree views. Wake up early and listen to the waves crashing on the shore as you watch the sun rise over the Caribbean. In the daytime the verandas are a perfect place to appreciate the flora and fauna of the Mayan jungle. There are literally thousands of rainbow-colored flowers and birds. And to see the sun set over the ancient Mayan jungle is breathtaking.
Casa Perla is only 50 meters (165 feet) from the water’s edge. Guests enjoy great shelling along the secluded beach or spectacular snorkeling and scuba diving directly in front of the house. If you visit between mid-May and November you can experience one of nature’s most unforgettable sights – Loggerhead, Green and Hawksbill turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in May and the hatchlings dash for the sea in November.
If you don’t feel like visiting the beach, our dark-bottom pool is as refreshing as it is beautiful. Comfortable lounge chairs were custom-made to enjoy a great book or relax with a chilled margarita. A wall surrounding the perimeter of the house assures total privacy as you bathe in the sun or enjoy a poolside bbq fiesta. Don’t worry about packing beach towels or pool toys for the kids; Casa Perla has them for you.
Free WiFi is available throughout the house.

We spent 5 nights here (3 couples) and the property is really beautiful. It is a bit of a ways down a rough road with many speed bumps but the location is good if want to see the area. You must have a car. The beds are super comfortable and the house is spotless. It is very well fitted out. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the housekeeper did not come in until Tuesday morning. It would have been nice to have her there first thing Monday morning to for the settling in part of it. When I emailed the owner he promptly responded. The beach is rough and not a nice beach, but the Tulum beaches are close and fabulous. There is a lovely Cenote nearby, and a good Pizza restaurant. We would definitely go back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

The pictures on VRBO and the website are right on - this house is spacious, well appointed, and beautiful. My wife and I and two other couples stayed at Casa Perla del Mar for one week January 26 - February 2, 2013; we wish we could have stayed much longer, and we would all go back. The setting, right across a quiet dirt road from the beach, with a pool and views of the ocean in the front yard, and expansive, undeveloped, open jungle stretching from the back yard, is amazing. With three king bed suites with private baths, it is perfect for multiple adult couples (also a "kids" room with two bunks and a queen bed). The views of the sea from the second floor outdoor porch, and the second floor back porch overlooking palm tress and jungle (with binoculars and a detailed book on birds of the Yucatan) are something we will not forget (and then there are the views from the rooftop deck, three stories up :-) lItaly and Elias, who take care of the house, are really nice and extremely conscientious and respectful of your privacy and space... many people have commented that you hardly know they're there, which is true when they're there; but after they leave you do really know they were there because the house is spotless and the pool area looks like you have just arrived again. Italy's cooking is awesome; our last night she made us a feast of molé, vegetables, tortillas, chips, salsa, guacamole, salad, margaritas, and flan - delicious, really, really delicious... Couldn't believe she pulled off molé for six vegetarians - the vegetables she chose were perfect for the molé. And if you want to get out for dinner but don't want to drive, Case Cenote bar and restaurant are walking distance down the road or beach, and have great margaritas and food with excellent service (Alberto is awesome). And then the cenote is right across the street, so there you are if you want to snorkel or dive the cenote. And you are just 10 minutes from the Tulum ruins and the main beach in Tulum, beautiful beyond belief. The house and the area present a great vacation value if you want a beach getaway. And Victor and Patricia, the owners of the house, are very professional, prompt, and easy to work with (Patricia gives great input on the area, things to do, restaurants, etc.). Excellent all around. (P.S. Please don't rent it... we want it all to ourselves :-)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.

We spent a wonderful week at Casa Perla del Mar with friends and family (5 adults and 2 children). The house is amazing in every way and is at a perfect location for sight seeing around Tulum area. After spending all day out, it was nice to come back to a spacious, comfortable, clean (thanks to Italy) house and refreshing pool. The beach view from upstairs and 360 degree view of both beach and jungle from roof top is fantastic. Star gazing from the roof top is a must. The house layout works well for a group, people were able to spread out and do various things (swimming, reading, napping, etc.) with plenty of personal space. The house is well-appointed, down to plush beach towels. This was a huge plus for me since they take up so much room in the luggage. We highly recommend this house, it really is a perfect vacation home!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Stayed at Casa Perla Del Mar for a week with my husband, son who lives in LA, daughter, her husband and their two young children who live in Guadalajara. We all met up at Casa Perla for a family vacation. Had a fabulous time! So much to see and do in this beautiful area. The house is in a nice quiet safe area away from the hustle and bustle of a very touristy Mexico. We enjoyed that very much. We would venture out in the morning and come back in the afternoon to spend the rest of the day playing in the pool with the kids and resting. The house itself is spacious, beautiful and very comfortable! We did see the giant turtles on the beach right in front of the house and helped launch a batch of newly hatched baby turtles! The guest book in the house had lots of wonderful and accurate suggestions for where to go and what to do. Would definitely recommend this place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We loved our stay - the house is great for hanging with a larger group - ample common spaces and also equally lovely bedrooms with a/c. Italy, the housekeeper, is as wonderful as the reviews predicted - she is invisible until the dishes need to be washed and suddenly. she appears! Elias the groundskeeper is equally nice and friendly. (FYI, neither speak English.) We thoroughly enjoyed Italy's cooking - better than going to a restaurant and she took our special dietary needs into consideration. The house was impeccably clean, the furnishings are absolutely lovely and the mattresses are the BEST. This is the first place we've ever stayed where the mattress was actually better than we have at home. The listing is quite accurate in its description. This is a great place to be if you want to do things in Tulum Pueblo, like shop, or go to the many water parks and cenotes in the area (e.g., Xel Ha or swimming with the dolphins) as it's close to the main road - also easy access to Playa DelCarmen about 45 min. morth. We stayed here for pre-wedding prep while we drove around to the florist, bakery, etc. and organized things - then moved to the beach proper (Boca Paila Road, about 10 km south) for the wedding, which is a world unto itself. We thoroughly enjoyed both locations. It's hand to have a car if you stay here - the Colectivos won't drive in but private cabs will. We loved the pool at the house and the beach is exactly across the street. We also liked the feeling of security of the guard station at the entrance to the road the house is on. We loved that there were beers and some supplies left behind by others before us (since you can't get any after 2 pm on Sunday. the day we arrived.) Blue Sky brick oven pizza is one minute down the dirt road if you need a snack and don't want to drive out to the store, which is about 20 min. away. Highly recommend the house, we really felt like it was our home while we were there. Thank you so much Victor!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful home. The attention to detail and artistry made the stay. The authenticity was remarkable. My friends and I wanted to escape and have a private secluded week at the beach. We felt free and easy and able to enjoy every room, every nook, every lounge chair. Our conversations and time were heightened. Watching the stars from the pool at night was my favorite. Although going to sleep in the finest of linens and ultimate plushness was hard to top as well. If you like the best snorkeling in the world... and a wonderful place to stay... book this home now.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The beauty of the house is nothing compared to the great service we got as from mour first email. Victor, the owner is wonderful to deal with. He made it such an easy deal! and Pattie, his wife has filled every corner with details and good taste touches. We had a very pleasant surprise finding out a much nicer place and service than we were expecting. It is a mexican house with all the comfort a family or couple looks for on a vacation. Its location is also a plus as it is very near Tulum, yet private enough in the beautiful bay! Regional menues were prepared with a lot of detail, as well as shopping provided! Italy, the cook really is on top of things, along with the rest of the staff. Casa Perla del Mar was up to the standards in being "our home" for a very special occassion. We are looking forward to coming back ! The moments lived, the places seen, the people, everything! Casa Perla del Mar was definitely a worthy experience in an astounding location.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Our stay at Casa Perla Del Mar was nothing short of perfect. The house is spacious, thoughtfully decorated with great views of the sea and the jungle. It is perfect for a group of friends or family. The location is great for excursions to the ruins, the biosphere or other beaches in Tulum. I would recommend all of these activities. Also, would highly recommend the dinners prepared at home. While the nearby dining was awesome the dinner at home prepared by Italy was not to be missed.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was a perfect home away from home. Not only was it very spacious, but it was also very well decorated and all the furniture was comfortable (especially the bedding). The owners Patricia & Victor were extremely prompt in responding to our questions and provided great suggestions. Local Chef Antonio cooked a fantastic dinner for our family one evening. We would strongly recommend his services. Casa Perla was a wonderful place to stay away from home. Definitely a five star home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: Tulum is a magical place and we had the chance to first experience it 20 plus years ago…...it remained in our heart and mind for another 13 years. When our son was born we would often take him to the very chilly beaches we have here in Northern California – one day my little frozen child looked at me and asked “mommy, do they have warm beaches?” A few months later we planned our trip back to Tulum and rented a house on Tankah Bay. We purchased the lot that week and began to build our slice of heaven, in October of 2009. The artistry and beauty of the great haciendas of Merida, and the Yucatan were our inspiration for Casa Perla del Mar. The inspiration for the name of our home however, is our dog Perla. We are of course, pet friendly! The Yucatan has something unique to fall in love with on every visit. Having been blessed with the opportunity to travel the world – Tulum remains at the top of the list.
