Location: Paris Arrondissement 4, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe

Accommodations:  Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)

Located in the Marais, one block from the Place des Vosges, this lovely vacation apartment is sure to become your home-away-from-home in Paris. Set on the second floor of a very quiet and charming 17th century building, it is reached easily by a wide one flight of stairs.

The apartment shows the highest standard for quality and comfort. It will charm you with designer furniture and touches of traditional French antiques. Splashes of dramatic color pleasantly energize the décor and the newly refinished wood floors shine. Gracious and thoughtful amenities are included throughout. An airy and sunny 520 square feet of space, this beautiful home was completely renovated and furnished in April 2003.

The living room has three large French windows facing a courtyard. There is a Ligne Roset sofa which easily becomes a comfortable bed for two. Two easy chairs and an ottoman accent the room's color scheme and modern design. Beautiful, sleek lamps give plenty of light for reading and other activities. Cable TV, VCR, stereo CD player and DSL line are conveniently located for use in the room.

The bedroom also has a large French window which faces the courtyard. The Ligne Roset bed is queen-sized with a padded headborad (perfect for reading in bed) and a firm mattress. Linens are 100% cotton and the pillows and comforter are extremely comfortable. The walk-in closet provides plenty of storage space.

The kitchen is large and has an antique table with matching chairs. New countertops, cabinets, ceramic sink and sage green floor tiles create a wonderful environment for cooking and eating. Fully equiped, the kitchen includes a dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.

The bathroom has a glassed-in shower and bathtub. A towel warmer, hairdryer and plenty of space for your things add convenience to this room.

This wonderful apartment is ideally located on rue Saint Gilles, one block from Place des Vosges in the heart of The Marais, this is the Paris so often see idealized in films and on postcards. The Place des Vosges, the oldest and one of the most beautiful squares in Paris, is a favorite of Parisians and tourists alike - a place to relax, stroll and take in the beauty of the city.

The Marais and nearby Place de la Bastille is home to some of the most important figures and events in Parisian history. Victor Hugo made his home at number 6 Place des Vosges and Balzac and Dumas resided in le Marais. The Picasso Museum, nearby at the Hotel Sale, is home to the world’s most significant collection of his work. The Musée Carnavalet on rue de Sévigné is one of the most interesting of Paris museums. It illustrates the history and development of Paris up to the present.

The bustling nightlife of the Marais is vibrant with its restaurants, club scene, concerts, cafés, and jazz bars. Less than a 10-minute walk will take you to the year-round program of opera and ballet at The Opera Bastille.

You can easily walk to Centre Georges Pompidou, Le Louvre, Forum des Halles, Notre-Dame, and many other Parisian landmarks.

Every Thursday and Saturday morning, there is the large outdoor market on Boulevard Richard Lenoir and a well-stocked, small supermarket, G20, has opened on rue Saint Gilles. Within the neighborhood are many wonderful specialty food shops and bakeries.

Métro Lines: About one block from Métro: Chemin Vert (line 8). About 5 minute walk to Métro: Bastille (lines 1/8/5) or Métro: St Paul (line 1).

We have agents in Paris available to solve any emergencies should they arise.

    • We had a wonderful stay in Paris at Joelle's Beaumarais apartment over Christmas week, 2008. The apartment was extremely comfortable and the location was great - close to metro stops, markets, bakeries, Le Marais (best falafel we have ever had), Picasso Museum... We got the one week Metro pass and travelled all around Paris. It was very nice coming "home" at the end of the day rather than being at a hotel. Having fresh baked bread and cheese from the local shops for breakfast was a great part of the Paris experience.

    • a lot of thought and creativity were invested in upgrading this property - making it a fine base for visiting Americans. the umbrella on the hook by the front door is a nice touch. also the original glass paned door to the bedroom, which actually keeps out sound from the TV. there's a real commitment to the enterprise. we called Joelle's Paris contact about some glitches - vanity light out, toilet seat broken - she came that evening with the handyman and took care of it. the bed gives an excellent night's sleep. the appliances work.the washer/dryer is noisy. just try to be out when it's on. we were there in winter - the unit still had good light. very well heated. the building was clean, quiet, well-maintained. we're vegan- the Thai restaurant diagonally across the street, Mai Thai, had a small, but excellent reasonably priced vg selection. a little further, on Ile St Louis, Le grenier de Notre-Dame is a vegetarian option well worth the walk. Naturalia, health food store on Rue St Antoine, has a deep inventory. prices not much more than in the US. the Bastille market is a great free show. we found it manageable on Thursday, overwhelming on Sunday. for book bargains, Mona Lisait, on rue pavee. we hope to be back - strongly recommend the apartment.

    • On our first visit to Paris we decided to rent an apartment rather than go the hotel route. We couldn't have been happier. We lived just like a local and was able to feel very much at home. The apartment was clean, convenient and the owner was very accomodating. We would stay here again.

    • My husband and I had a wonderful stay in the Marais, thanks to Joelle and her Beaumarais apartment. Although I've lived in Paris and visited many times, I especially appreciated the perfect location, the quiet setting, the comfortable bed, the simple but nicely chosen furnishings, and Joelle's helpfulness. Her list of places to shop was just terrific; we had some of the best yogurt and gruyere we've ever tasted at the cheese shop she listed and we loved several of the restaurants she recommended. Even the taxi company she suggested was excellent. The thoughtfulness and care she put into making the experience in Paris a good one made me want to turn around and go straight back to France upon our return home.

    • Le Marais is our favourite part of Paris and this beautiful apartment makes staying there all the more comfortable and affordable. It is excellently equipped and beautifully fitted out. It is quiet and convenient for everything. Joelle has even provided the most comprehensive local information you could want. We will hope to stay there every time we return to Paris.

    • What a find! Having spent at least five hours online researching apartments in Paris, I was delighted and relieved to find that the apartment I chose was precisely what we wanted: great central location with a local - ie. not touristy - feel; tasteful, modern decor; fine amenities (clean bathroom with separate toilet, washing mashine, dishwasher); and plenty of living (and wardrobe) space for two people. Given its first floor (that's 2nd floor in American) position on the courtyard and also the time of year (April), it was surprisingly light and came with the added bonus of complete silence at night. The bed was also superb - I have never slept so well and intend to buy one for myself ASAP. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who has similar requirements to mine. So much better than staying in a hotel!

    • Beaumarais was the perfect apartment for our vacation needs. It is in a great neighborhood with easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and tourist locations. Access to the metro stops Bastille and Chermin Vert were a few minutes walk. My wife and I likened it to staying over a good friend's place. It has everything you would need to make a vacation stay easy. My wife loved the bed comforter. Washer/Dryer came in handy as well as those much needed outlet adapters for our US standard electronics. The supermarket next door was perfect when we decided to save money and cook a nice meal. Booking the place was an easy transaction. I appreciated that we were able to pay in USD. We stayed for 5 nights in March 2008 and the rainy weather didn't deter us one bit from having a good time. Overall, I would easily recommend this place to others and would book another stay here on our next Paris trip.

    • A lovely, clean, and quiet apartment in a great location. We were welcomed with fresh flowers and a bottle of wine. Joelle was very helpful in providing information about the area, including transportation options and restaurants. There were cords to hook up an iPod through the stereo; very nice touch.

    • My daughter and I spent two weeks in Paris celebrating her 40th birthday and this apartment was delightful! It is centrally located to everything that was important to us--museums, shops, metro and restaurants. We felt like real Parisians shopping in the local food markets and cooking at home. We would gladly refer anyone to stay here at BeauMarais. Cheers, JR
