This large, one-bedroom apartment is located in an ancient residence of Louis XIII's gardsmen, named "La Maison des Trois Jardins" (the house of three gardens). It opens on to a classified, 17th century courtyard. This private residence is approached from Rue Mouffetard or from Rue Tournefort.

La Rue Mouffetard is one of Paris' historical streets a few steps away from the famous Place de la Contrescarpe, a mere 100 meters from the Panthéon. It is an easy walk to Notre Dame, the Boulevard Saint Germain, the Boulevard Saint-Michel, La Sorbonne, and the Jardin du Luxembourg. Practically dedicated to pedestrians only, the "Rue Mouffetard" is celebrated for its daily market, its world cuisine or traditional French restaurants, and its old stone houses. It is a village preserved in its Parisian soul.

Spaciously organized with an area of over 52 square meters (580 square feet), the apartment offers ample living space with a luminous salon, comfortable bedroom, fully-equipped kitchen, and a modern bathroom with bathtub. In the bedroom, a queen-size bed is divisible into two single beds if required, in the living room a single bed and a sofa bed can accommodate three extra guests.

The apartment opens on private stairs giving direct access to the courtyard. The place enjoys an absolute calm and a complete safety.

Located in the same residence as VRBO #31087 apartment N°, both can be located together to accommodate five to seven people.

Ideal for three, maximum five.

Our family of five (kids aged 9, 13 & 15) spent a really enjoyable week in Paris at this apartment. The photos represent the place very well. We had ample room for all of us and coundn't have asked for more convenient access to groceries, bakeries, restaurants and the metro. Despite being on Mouffetard, it's really quiet at night because ofnthe windows facing on the courtyard. The charm of the entry to the courtyard, which is a wide corridor that you can easily imagine horses trodding through a century ago, made coming home each day an historical experience. The apartment was very well equipped and stocked with necessities like laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, toilet paper, etc. We had no difficulty settling in. The beds were comfortable and the thick walls and courtyard shade kept the apartment relatively cool on hot days. We were met at the apartment by Xavier, who was very kind in showing us where everything was located and how to run the laundry machine and dishwasher, as well as explaining where the closest shops and markets were. The only negative is the mildewy tiles in the shower, but that is a minor critique. The great water pressure in the shower, the free wifi and the comfortable beds made up for it! We would rent this place again.

Myself and my four girlfriends stayed in this apartment during Easter break and it was fabulous! It's located in the Latin quarter which has great, affordable shopping, tasty restaurants and fun nightlife! It has tight security, with a code to enter the garden which opens to the apartment. It is perfect because its quiet and peaceful at night but lively during the day! The closest metro is only 2 blocks away. The apartment is very clean and perfect for 3-5 people, with 5 girls we managed very well and had plenty of space! Henri and Graham were wonderful and extremely helpful! HIGHLY suggest this apartment!!!

I cannot express how disappointed we were when we arrived at this apartment. The photos do not reflect the actual condition of the place. I don't mind simple, but clean is necessary. After being shown the apartment, and asked to be sure to empty the trash after our stay, so as not to attract "...ants," I looked more carefully at the kitchen, bathroom, and bed. Food debris was stuck to the sides of the kitchen sink, and in the drain catch. When I wiped the counter, the cloth was completely grey. The toaster sat on a pile of crumbs. I loaded the dishwasher to run, after finding food particles stuck to bowls and cutlery. There was plenty of black mildew in the shower and around the bathroom faucet. The hanging hand towel had been used. Hair and dustballs were heavy between and under the mattresses. There was hair in the sheets, as well as black spots (mold?). The living room sofas were hairy. The floors looked swept, but this place hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The photos look great, but the place is actually very worn and dinghy, which would have been okay, if it were clean. When we called the owner, he offered to send someone over to clean the place. (The same one who cleaned before our arrival?) I couldn't let my family sleep here, I was seriously concerned about bugs. We asked him to at least refund us half of the cost we had paid, but he refused. We left the key and found a hotel. We stopped by a couple days later, and noticed the place was not vacant, so this owner must have made double the price for our week. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. Too bad for us, we paid plenty for nothing.

Owner response: This comment is totally incorrect. These clients wanted to be re-imbursed simply because they had booked another apartment which suited them better .Obviously this was impossible hence this angry but completely false comment. Unfortunately there are not only dishonest landlords, there are also underhand clients.

My husband and I stayed in the apartment for just over a week in May 2005 and would have loved to stay longer. Henri was very helpful, even organised some advance restaurant bookings for us. The neighbourhood was jumping! but the apartment was quiet and the garden peaceful. The metro was close by and lots of on-foot discoveries to be made close by. Highly recommended - the best place we have stayed in three visits to Paris.

We were a little anxious about renting an apartment in a foreign country from someone we had never met. I think the number of emails that I had with Henri holds the record, but in all of them he was extremely patient, kind, and accomodating. There were no surprises, he did everything he said he would do and more. We absolutely LOVED our apartment, and we LOVED the street it was on. It was so hard to believe that just beyond the courtyard doors there was so much activity because our apartment was so quiet. The apartment was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was quite obvious that great attention and thought went into the accomodations, right down to fresh flowers, coffee, bottled water and orange juice! Henri was a delight to do business with and we have saved our luggage tags because there is no doubt in our minds that we will return to Mouffetard. We loved it and we love Paris.

My brother and I took our daughters to Paris for a long weekend and found this apartment perfect for a number of reasons. The apartment itself is spacious and comfortable and is much more livable than any hotel room. We enjoyed the freedom we had to come and go, eat in or out, explore the neighborhood and easily return to the apartment for naps, sncaks or a glass of wine we bought at one of two neighborhood wine stores. The atmosphere of the building is lovely...very convenient, quiet, secure and attractive. We loved the market at the end of Rue Mouffetard and we enjoyed many of the shops and restaurants right in our immediate vicinity. The host/owner of the apartment was most helpful and gracious. He was helpful in advance of our arrival and met us at the apartment to "show us the ropes." He also had many tools in the apartment to help us enjoy the neighborhood...recommendations for shops, restaurants and local places of interest. I will definitely return the next time I go to Paris. I have already referred several friends to Henri, the owner.

The apartment is quiet, well furnished and extremely comfortably equipped (hairdryer, oven, micro-wave, fine china, etc.). It can easily accomodate five people. The surrounding area is lively, friendly, full of restaurants, shops and markets. The nearest underground station and many interesting sights are within walking distance. We are looking forward to going back to Paris, in rue Mouffetard! Pierluigi and Alessandra Abbondanza, Milan, Italy.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in this one bedroom Mouffetard apartment for eleven nights in August, 2004. This was our first time in this apartment and our third time staying in Paris. We found the apartment to be in a perfect location, with its own private courtyard. The apartment was very quiet, and yet we were very close to many reasonable restaurants, the daily market, the lovely Place de la Contrescarpe. We were within walking distance to the Pantheon, Notre Dame, the Seine, Luxembourg Gardens and many shops and boutiques. Of all the locations we have stayed, this is by far our favourite. The metro and train stations are nearby. We were met by the owner of the apartment on the morning of our arrival. He was very congenial and helpful. The apartment was spotless, and there clearly was attention paid to detail in every way. The kitchen was small but well equipped, and the living room was spacious and furnished with newer contemporary pieces. Both the living room and bedroom had French doors/windows and they could be opened right up for lots of fresh air. There were several closets and areas for storage. The bathroom was spotless, and included washer/dryer, large bathtub, many toiletries, laundry detergent, etc. What we really liked was that just outside the very quiet courtyard, we were instantly surrounded by lovely quaint cobblestoned streets lined with cafes, bakeries, grocery stores. We loved the atmosphere; a cozy neighbourhood feel. We would return in a heartbeat!

We found this apartment charming, elegant, beautiful, quiet and well situated. We were able to accommodate 3 adults and 2 toddlers with ease ... we even hosted a dinner party for 10 effortlessly. No detail was too small for our host - from the 'things to do' binder to the Market bags for the 'Mouff' market goodies we would bring home - Henri thought of everything to make our stay in Paris wonderful. Highly recommended!
