A millions shades of green is the colour of New London as your eyes follow the gentle rise of the rolling fields, forest and streams from the generous lawns that surround Potter's House.
The three bedroom summerhouse is a great spot for a family gathering with the whole house to yourselves. Located with large grounds - there is lots of room for family activities outside as well as two living rooms - a dining room and eat-in kitchen.
Once operated as a country inn/ tourist home, it is now available for rental by the week during the summer. Also for shorter periods in the early and later season.
Located in a creative village - you can take a stroll to visit the potters at work next door (mother and daughter - Daphne & Suzanne) after whom the house was named. As well you can partake in culinary adventures within the village as well at the Annie’s Table - Culinary Studio. If learning a new craft is an interest next door is New London Joy where Roseann operates a shop and conducts mosaic workshops.
And if you haven't worked up an appetite yet within the village there is the historic Birthplace of L.M. Montgomery, the esteemed author of the Anne of Green Gables series, which is open daily as well as Gallery 18 that offers a full line of art, antique prints and collectible books.
Did someone mention food ? You might consider slipping into the Bluewinds Tea Room for a refreshing break or a full meal. As well the New London Seafood Restaurant located on the harbour wharf.

This is an older property and thus has old infrasturture ie. plumbing, electrical, etc. We used it as a family gathering spot and it sherved that purpose well being close to amenities in Cavendish. The owners were nice and helpful when called upon. Overall a clean and commfortable place to stay.Owner response: The electrical panel was fully replaced later in August 2012. We are pleased to have our property inspected under the Canada Select system, operated in PEI, though Quality Tourism Services. Upgrades are made annually to meet those high standards, and to ensure that this property meet modern standards for tourist amenities.

"A literary shrine that draws more visitors to PEI, Green Gables house in Cavendish has become a mandatory visit for most travelers. Located within the National Park near spectacular dunes and beaches with top golf and amenities the whole resort community has grown around the jewel which is Green Gables. Well operated by Parks Canada the interpretation and restoration reflects on this setting for Lucy Maud Montgomery's successful novel Anne of Green Gables. While Anne was a literary creation, the house was clearly the real setting that Maud placed her heroine in."

Stanley Bridge Women's Institute Hall
"With entertainment most evenings of the week, you will find a family friendly local venue with lots of great music. The revival of ceilidhs (Gaelic for "a time" or a party), in PEI in recent decades have meant that traditional music is readily available. Often a combination of Maritime music, with traditional Irish and Scottish influences, a visit to PEI without attending a ceilidh -- is simply a day without sunshine. There are ceilidhs in halls from tip to tip on PEI with Stanley Bridge being idea for anyone in the Cavendish or New London area. One tip - come early as there is often a line up to get in the door."

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1994
About the owner: As artisans we fell in love with the area in the 1970's and have operated our pottery business in the village since then - it now includes our daughter Suzanne who is also a potter.
Why the Owner Chose New London:
Having a family summerhouse in the area, we knew what a great location the North Shore is for families to enjoy a vacation. Exploring the area with our three children and our first grandchild showed us there is no end to the great places to discover nearby. Having the chance to purchase Potter's House from an older couple who were pioneers in the tourism field we jumped at the chance - knowing that what had operated as a small inn would make the perfect summerhouse for visitors looking for a location to relax and enjoy. When there is time to slip away from pottery making, or at the end of the day - the beach is where we tend to head. Watching the sunset over the water is always a special treat. With beaches in all directions, New London is a perfect base to explore the best of what Prince Edward Island has to offer in any direction.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
With a fresh coffee in hand - heading to the big lawn chairs the eye rises to see a hawk soars over the meadow. Whether it is the Northern Harrier in the meadow or an Ospey family nesting near the harbour or the Bald Eagles over the bay this area is rich with nature and the refreshment that comes from being close to a seaside environment.
As the late afternoon arrives and the whiff of the BBQ awakens your senses to an awaited meal - tonight it is surf and turf - with the freshest lobster in the world straight from the wharf along with mussels. Last night it was salmon from the same market.
As the night falls and the kids tire from playing soccer and frisbee on the big lawn at the back, the shout of 'campfire' resounds and the family gathers at the fire pit to light a campfire and enjoy time together around the flickering light of the warming blaze, while the distant glow of the sun sets beyond the horizon.
Exploring the area is always a joy - the fishing villages and beaches - the cycling and hiking trails - the golf courses and National Park make this area a popular location. Potter's House is a restful summerhouse in the middle of one of the top vacation areas on Canada's east coast. Beautiful beaches are just minutes away by car.
