Jekyll Island townhome description
Oceanside Townhome is a very comfortable 2 bed / 1 bath unit that is located about 100 steps from what is indisputably Jekyll Island's BEST Stretch of Beach!
The Unit has a covered front porch, and one-step entry to the main level which has a Living Room, Dining Room & Full Kitchen Combination. Upstairs is a spacious Master bedroom with Queen Bed, a 2nd Bedroom with 2 twin beds, and a shared bath.
A large outside wooden deck with benches, a patio table and gas grill is available. At the end of the Unit is an exterior laundry room with 2 Washers & 2 Dryers. Porchside Hoses, and an outside Shower are available to clean off from the Beach.
The Beach is about 100 steps away, down a path under Windswept Oaks, and along a very short boardwalk through the dunes - to a large Beachside View Deck with stairs down to a Wide, White Sandy Beach that you can walk on even during High Tide!! (Some areas of the Island are washed out at high tide, but our beach has white sand at all times!). This is absolutely a fabulous stretch of Jekyll Island Beach! We are close enough to walk to the shops that are located just a few hundred yards away.
Ocean Townhome is is the best Value of it's class on the Island! Great Location. Great Accomodation!

Great location, minor issues with property maintenance
Great location, minor issues with property maintenance
It was certainly good for our needs and the price was great. You can't beat the location- unless you prefer to be near lots of other people. Loved the easy walk to the beach. And it was an easy bike ride to the shops and the historic center. The manager, David was responsive and nice to work with. We would definitely return. However, there are a few things that the owner needs to take care of. First, the sliding doors in the kitchen closet/pantry need to be replaced- even if you were to put up a curtain on a well anchored rod, it would work better than the sorry excuse for 'sliding' doors that are there now. Second, the ceiling fan in the master bedroom sounded like it was operated by a few hamsters running in their wheels. It needs to be replaced- and while you're at it, splurge for a $20 fan for the second bedroom, I imagine it gets warm in there during the summer. Third, you need to replace the grill. The cover was lovely but the guts are rusted and barely functional. My husband had to carefully put the rods in place before lighting - one line didn't work at all, one had a minimal flame one one end, the third one worked so we managed to (barely) cook our burgers. The exterior looked a little haggard, it could be tidier but wasn't terrible. Overall we had a great time, loved Jekyll Island and enjoyed our stay at the property. We would return but hope the owner will take care of the minor issues.

Manager response: Thank you for the nice review, AND the constructive criticism. Actually November and December each year start slowing down and we do an annual "Maintenance project" each year. This year we updated all the Heat & AC Units. We also took your advice and replaced the Ceiling Fan in the Master bedroom, replaced the sliding pantry doors in the kitchen, and replaced the Grill. Peace, - david aka "The Manager" :)
What a wonderful experience! We are in the middle of our stay here and are absolutely in love with this location. Peaceful, quiet, shaded neighborhood only a few steps down a shady path to the beach. The kids can ride their bikes around this neighborhood with no worries. Perfect for a family of 4. David was so great to work with. Everything here is exactly as described. Couldn't be happier. Will definitely stay here again and will highly recommend it to others. -Kristi McCarthy

Perfect descriptions, perfect location, we will be back!
Perfect descriptions, perfect location, we will be back!
Loved it. Loved the island, loved this spot as the perfect "home". Did I mention I loved the location? Everything was exactly as described, and it really is in a fantastic location. We will be back, again and again and again, I am already planning a huge family get together with family from all over the country, will need to rent the whole place!! Not having to drag linens, or rent them, was icing on the cake of life that is this rental!

A great small but cozy condo
A great small but cozy condo
This is a great place to stay because the location couldn't be more perfect. Super close to the beach, bike path, small IGA grocery store, and a few shops. It's on a quaint and quiet street. My 73 year old mother, myself, and two children stayed here for 1 week during our spring break and had a great time! The condo is perfect for 4 people or less. I would not recommend up to 6 people because of the one bathroom and the condo is quite small. My only complaint is the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors on both sides. It really did not bother me too much once I got used to it but if you are sensitive to noises, do not stay here. Overall, very clean, cozy adorable little place, super affordable, and I would definitely stay here again next year for spring break. David was very nice and informative. The condo provided everything we needed even an outside grill. Jekyll Island is one of the most beautiful islands I have ever visited and super safe. Biking was by far my most favorite thing to do. We went horseback riding on the beach one day which was a lot of fun. We took a dolphin excursion which was a waste because we just saw their fins from a good distance away. The boat ride was fun and our tour guides were terrific. We had dinner at Driftwood Bistro which was pretty good and affordable if you like fried seafood and creamy sauces smothering your fish. The $10 bottles of wine were awesome and the restaurant itself was nice. The raw bar on the wharf was by far my favorite! We hope to be back next year! I am already missing my regular walks on the beach and bike rides!

Manager response: Just wanted to say a quick thank you for the nice review, and comment on the noise aspect. My family vacations here also. I am the manager for the units and we have 2 boys and a new daughter :) I agree and disagree with the noise issues. In over a dozen stays, I have only had one time where it got loud - and that was the result of an exceptionally loud family next door. But during every other stay, always with neighbors in the units, I either never, or rarely heard anyone - even though often there were quite active families next door. So I think in general it is a function of WHO is next door, and what season it is. My main concern in posting this reply is for any potential winter guests - who are generally older, quieter, and should know that outside of spring break and summer holiday seasons when we often experience lots of children, the units are normally most popular with couples, and are much more relaxed and quiet. Peace, - david / Manager for Oceanside Townhomes
We just got back from spending 3 nights at this house. It was perfect for our young family, steps from the beach and in a quiet location away from the main street. The house is small & could do with modernizing, however it was comfortable and clean and the photos are accurately reflect its appearance. The location is what makes the place so great, it really could not have been better. The Manager was very helpful and answered all our questions. The only downside was the outside area had not been cleaned so it was not a great place to hang out. I didn't feel like sweeping the deck on my vacation! However this was a very minor issue. Would stay here again & recommend it to friends!

Manager response: NEW MANAGEMENT UPDATE: 1 YEAR LATER: I have been very tardy in responding to this review, which I do appreciate very much, and at the time given was spot on, and I had just been handling the rentals a few weeks. I do want to update however, a year having passed since the above comments,a nd many changes having been made. We are under new management, and a new cleaning staff - both inside and out. At the time this review was written, I myself must admit that the outside was horrible. Great steps have been taken to ensure that the outside walkways, deck, parking and trash areas are all cleaned and upkept routinely. Our Units have had new living room furniture updated, and most recently we repainted interior top to bottom as well. And we keep the interiors CLEAN! We are not the Taj Mahal. We don't have granite countertops or a whole lot of bling. But our unit is very functional, well stocked, the towels and linens and comforters/blankets kept clean and rotated with new regularly. We are one of the only group of units on the island to include towels and linens in our price. And we don't supply cheap scratchy sheets either :) The units are cozy, are clean, and best of all - they really are THE BEST LOCATION on the island - which we hear again and again from people. And we keep our rates down. It's tough times for folks and we try very hard to offer a good value. And if you've never been to Jekyll, I've been vacationing here for over 50 years. More than happy to share what I can! You will LOVE our Island :) Peace, - david / Manager for Oceanside Townhomes
