The BABY DUCK is a beautiful 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with a sleeping loft, located along our family's private path near Ocracoke's historic lighthouse.
With its 1920's Bungalow Style Architecture, 9 ft ceilings, hardwood floors, bead board paneling and crystal doorknobs, it is clear that this house is special. Decorated perfectly with local photography and antique treasures, this custom built home features an open living and dining area, well equipped kitchen, sundeck, screened porch and gas fireplace. In addition, the jacuzzi bathtub, flat screen TV, DVD player, laundry, outdoor shower, charcoal grill, fish bench and WiFi access provide exceptional comfort during your stay.
The first floor has a peaceful queen master bedroom with a private attached bathroom. The sunny queen guest bedroom has an easily accessible bathroom just around the corner. The upstairs loft is the answer to a child's imagination, offering twin beds, a sitting area complete with a second TV, DVD player and the perfect view for spying a pirate ship gliding across the Pamilico Sound. This home is perfect for a romantic getaway, two couples or a family. The screened porch and decks allow for views of the garden and marsh, quiet time in a rocking chair or a nap on the daybed while you enjoy the afternoon breeze.
The BABY DUCK is conveniently located on the island within easy walking distance to the Ocracoke Lighthouse and Springers Point nature preserve. It is minutes away by foot or by bike to Silver Lake Harbor, restaurants and shopping. All 13 miles of oceanfront on Ocracoke Island are undeveloped — not a building in sight, just miles of clean, open, white sand beaches. This most beautiful beach can be accessed by bicycle or vehicle and has convenient parking, boardwalk and summer lifeguards. With a 4 wheel drive vehicle and proper permit, you can drive on the beach with all of your essentials and find a private spot to call your own.
We love our home and have planned every detail to make your vacation relaxing and fun. To ensure that the BABY DUCK is always in tip-top shape, a cleaning/damage deposit is included with your rental rate. Come discover this very special place hidden down our secret path, among the ancient live oaks, salt marsh and ocean environments. We know you will love it as much as we do!
Our home is a non-smoking home and pets are not allowed. For your convenience, sheets and towels are available for an additional fee.

About the owner: We have 2 young children ages 6 and 4 who believe that Ocracoke is the most MAGICAL place on earth!
Why the Owner Chose Ocracoke:
My family has been visiting Ocracoke since the 1970s. I have such great memories of my brother and me playing 'spy' on the ferry, waking up before dawn for a big fishing trip, bumping along South Point road in our 4 wheel drive singing at the top of our lungs. I feel so fortunate to have a home of my own there to give my children the opportunity to make their own memories on this little island.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
For us, every day starts with coffee on our little screened porch. It reminds us to enjoy the slow pace of island time. It's hard to pass up a morning on the beach building sandcastles, jumping waves and netting minnows with barely another soul in sight. Afternoons are for perfect naps, books and games perhaps followed with a bike ride to get ice cream or a grape nehi. Then it's cocktail time for the adults while children have the freedom to be pirates and make treasure maps until dinner time. Whether evenings take us to great restaurants or to a family meal at our own BABY DUCK, we have fun making memories with our family.
