Paris Arrondissement 4 apartment description

We welcome you with open arms for an unforgettable stay in the heart of the most beautiful city in the world. Our chic, charming and newly renovated apartment is the best value for your money you will find in Paris. The apartment is located on the Seine River in the heart of historic Paris known as the Ile de la Cite (trans. 'island in the city'), the perfect location to see the best landmarks, monuments and quarters surrounding the island on all sides. You will feel at home and completely relax in a luminous and serene space with an incredible view on the tranquil river and the historic monument Hotel de Ville (the Mayor's Renaissance palace). You cannot get more central than our apartment!
Sitting alongside Notre Dame Cathedral on the 'Ile de la cite' (Island) you are surrounded by the tranquil Seine River with unforgettable views on the beautiful Hotel de Ville (city hall).
It's the oldest preserved area of Paris with cobblestone streets and remnants of a Roman past, when Paris was born from the 'Parisi Tribe' which first settled on the island.

The center of Paris is best seen on foot, but the apartment is just steps away from bike, bus, subway, train, car and even boat transportation! Yes, really! There are bike rental stations along the street where you can rent bikes by the 1/2hr ( and now there is even an electric car rental station ( on the corner of our street! The bus line #38 stops near the apartment (stop # Cite - Palais de la Justice) and the train station St-Michel Notre Dame - RER B Train Line (direct to Charles de Gaulle aiport or to Orly Airport with a transfer) and the subway station Cité - Line 4 (fuschia) are just steps away. Lastly, the boat buses stop on either side of the island and it's a fun way to see the city from a different perspective.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the Apartment in a safe area?
Yes. It's in the heart of Paris where it is always lively. The streets are well-lit at night, there is a code to enter into the building, and of course we're always near by if you're ever in need!

2. Where is the nearest grocery store?
There is a large supermarket on Rue de Rivoli not far from the apartment, however; the area around the Marais and the Ile St. Louis are known for their small specialty stores where you can find the best bread, cheese, wine and meat in Paris.

3. Can I make calls from the Apartment? How much are they?
There is a phone in the apartment, and you can call to the US for FREE with our carrier!
Some other destinations are free as well, please e-mail us with a list of countries you would like to call, and we'll let you know how little our carrier will charge.

You can also buy a pre-paid MobiCarte, which is a SIM card you can buy at any Tabac, to use with your own cellphone here.

4. How do I get there from the airport? How much is it?
-- TAXI : 35-45 Euros
-- Direct Train (RER B) from Charles de Gaulle Airport and Orly Airport to Gare du Nord, Chatelet or St. Michel metro stations : less than 9 euros/per person + a short walk to the apartment

5. How do I get around?
There is a vast metro/bus/train system in Paris that is easy to navigate, although the best mode of transport when you stay in the center of all the activity is by foot!

There is also a hop-on/hop-off sightseeing bus, as well as a hop on/hop off sightseeing boat! The lastest marvel is the new bike rental system! You can find one on almost any street corner - just rent it for however long you wish with your credit card (at what looks like an ATM) and off you go! (You can even return it to a different location, too).

6. How much would it be to stay in such a great location at a Hotel instead?
In fact there are no hotels directly on the Seine River on Ile de la Cite, that is what makes our apartment so special!
And we have all the amenities of a hotel - plus so much more!

We know you will enjoy your stay in our apartment, so much so that it will be difficult to leave!

                  • We hope you will get out and see as much as you can of the most magical place in the World! Our luxury apartment is situated on the Seine River in the heart of historic Paris known as the Ile de la Cite (trans. 'island in the city'), the perfect location to see the best landmarks, monuments and quarters surrounding the island on all sides. The island is the original birthplace of Paris and therefore the epicenter of the capital and the starting point for visiting the other historic quarters on the Right and Left banks of the Seine River (the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th districts of Paris). The Point Zero (marks the spot from which all distances are measured in France) can be found in front of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral, the Gothic paragon whose first stone was laid in 1163 during the Middle Ages. Under your feet lies the remains from first settlers in Paris, from the Gallo-Romans to the the Parisii Tribe (from which Paris gets its name) which can be seen by visiting the Archeological Crypt below Notre Dame. A pleasant stroll across Pont St-Louis bridge from Ile de la Cite will take you to a smaller, quaint island Ile St. Louis which has a distinct 17th c. architectural character, home to tiny specialized shops and Bertillon, the famous ice cream maker. Back at point zero and crossing the northernmost bridge from the island, The 1st quarter is where you will find the gilded Opera, the majestic Louvre, the jewelry shops around Place Vendome and luxury boutiques like Dior, Chanel, Hermes, etc. Further afield you will see the awe-inspiring Eiffel Tower which is best viewed from a dinner-cruise along the Seine river. Another day you can set off to visit the 2nd quarter, where you will find the lively working-class and commercial center of Paris with the Bourse (trans. 'Stock Exchange'), many pedestrian walking streets with shops, bars, cafes and a contrasting, sometimes gritty atmosphere. The 3rd quarter is the more tranquil part of the medieval le Marais district where you will find the Picasso museum, and other hidden gems such as the Marche Enfants Rouges, a cute open-air food market. Back to point zero, the island where the apartment is situated is officially part of the 4th quarter. From the windows of the apartment you can see the Hotel de Ville, a beautiful Renaissane palace housing the city hall. To get there, cross the Pont d'Arcole bridge onto the Right Bank where you will also find the famous Pompidou modern art museum and the livelier part of the Marais district with the best boutiques and places to eat/drink. Also housing the old Jewish quarter, the gay district and the most expensive place to live in Paris by square meter: the beautiful Place de Vosges square. The 5th quarter can be reached crossing le Petit Pont bridge from the Island onto the Left Bank where you will find the intellectual, artistic and philosophical center of Paris. First you will come across the animated Latin Quarter, crawling with bars, bookstores and university students from La Sorbonne. Further on there is the Romanesque Pantheon and charming gardens of Jardin des Plantes and a quaint zoo. Further north in the affluent St. Germain district you can find art galleries, luxury shops and swanky bars/cafes such as the illustrious Cafe de Flore or Le Deux Magots (literally means 'nest eggs'). Home to the famous Luxembourg gardens, you can put your feet up and relax while you write in your journal about all the amazing and enriching things you've done and seen! ...moreless

The apartment was perfect in every way. Marie-Christine, Nicholas and Marc were wonderful and there to greet you upon arrival and help with your departure. The location could not have been better. I walked everywhere and found everything easily. It was quiet and the view beyond comparison! So relaxing and I can't wait to find the time to go back as soon as possible.

I can't say enough about how much my husband and I adored staying in this darling little apartment. It has all the charm of an old Parisian flat but with all the modern, updated comforts. Warm, cozy, impeccably clean -- best of all, an unbeatable view of the Seine and Hotel de Ville. I couldn't get enough of it, rain or no rain! Just blocks away from Notre Dame, the apartment is centrally located yet still on a quiet block. We walked almost everywhere and had quick access to the Metro, Batobus (like a river bus), and a nearby taxi stand. I loved the comfy bed, fluffy towels, crisp linens, and the kitchenette that made it feel like our own little home. Did I mention the view??? Marie Christine and Marc were the most wonderfully welcoming hosts. We had a rough start to our trip with a delayed flight, missed connection, and lost luggage, but once we met Marie Christine and Marc in the lovely apartment, all was forgotten and we knew the trip would be just as special as we dreamed. They even called the next day to make sure our luggage arrived and were prepared to help us make calls if it hadn't. We truly appreciated their warmth and kindness. I so loved staying here I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we visit Paris again someday. We had such a fabulous trip we are determined to come back!!

I echo what everyone else has said about this apartment and its owners. The place is spotless, beautifully decorated, located on a quiet street, and has a delightful view of the river. One feels like a Parisian here, and a lucky one at that. The space, though small, is comfortable, and there is abundant storage space for luggage. Though the bathroom is small, the shower is very roomy. The kitchenette provides everything one needs to prepare simple meals, but since I went to Paris to visit my favorite restaurants and discover new ones, I took advantage of only the coffee maker and the refrigerator for breakfasts. Marie-Christine and Marc are the perfect hosts. I will be back, next time with my wife!

We chose this apartment based on its location and reviews. Both were spot on! As mentioned in another review, we got turned around and initially confused once we arrived at the Cite Metro stop. A quick call to Marie-Christine (who was waiting for us in the apartment, and she quickly arrived to help us with our luggage and show us to the apartment. As soon as we walked in, we knew we had made the right choice. Marie-Christine took an hour to walk us through all of the functions of this clever studio apartment, as well as brewing a pot of coffee to go with the croissants that awaited our arrival. The apartment was well outfitted, with condiments, lots of bottled water and everything you would need to cook. We were a little concerned that the only oven was a microwave, but it turned out to have a heating and browning element, which, with excellent directions, met every need. During our stay, Marie-Christine was in her other apartment (directly below) personally supervising work (her attention is evident in the placement and function of every detail of this wonderful apartment), and she stopped up to deliver more bottled water, plus a large bunch of cut roses. The bed was comfortable and easy to put up and down. The tiny apartment was extremely well laid out, with ample closet space and shelves for luggage and clothes. A couple notes. (1) There isn't room for a large water heater, and, if you are used to long hot showers (I am), you'll have to hurry. (2) There is an ingenious Siemens combination washer-drier under the cooktop. The directions are detailed, and there is a complete manual saved on the portable computer that Marie-Christine left for us in the apartment. It doesn't completely dry even with a high spin speed and a 60-minute dry cycle, but it almost dries, and the bathroom towel heater quickly finishes the job. (3) The most expeditious way from CDG is to take the RER B line from either of the two stops on the CDG inter-terminal shuttle. Don't change to the Metro 4 line at Gare du Nord as we did - the more direct route is to get off the RER B two stops past Gare du Nord at the Saint Michel - Notre Dame stop. As other reviewers noted, the location is superb, and the classes at La Cuisine Paris are convenient and a lot of fun. We can't wait to return!

This apartment couldn't have been more perfect for my needs. The location is as central as is possible. It's only a two or three minute walk to Notre Dame, but I walked everywhere, even to Montmartre. The view overlooking the Seine is spectacular and priceless in and of itself. Although small, the apartment is perfectly appointed, cozy and very comfortable. But it was the thoughtfulness and warmth of Marie-Christine and her family that made my stay so much more than it would have been had I chosen to stay in a hotel. They made me feel as though the city of Paris was a welcome and inviting place, and that's exactly how it turned out to be.

I did not stay in this apartment. I stayed in the other apartment Marie-Christine and family own in the building. I had the most spectacular time and didn't have one single problem with the property. It was so comfortable, well appointed, secure and warm. The location was supreme. The views over the Seine left me breathless each morning and evening. The best part of staying at this beautiful Paris apartment though was the hostess, Marie-Christine. I was traveling alone for my first visit to Paris. She greeted me and spent over an hour helping me get settled. She provided me with priceless tips and suggestions about the area, where to dine, shop and tour to get the most out of my visit. She was absolutely lovely. I hope I have the pleasure of staying in one of her apartments in the future. TIP: If you're looking for a wonderful Parisian baking experience, please visit La Cuisine Paris (cooking & baking school) directly across the river from the apartment (5 min. walk). Fabulous 2 and 3 hour classes where you learn authentic French cooking and baking, plus get to eat it! Great staff too.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Paris, this is it! First, Marie-Christine and Marc are amazing people, generous, and will even track you down when you are lost.... They are honest, kind, and lovely to meet. That alone makes this place worth the stay! The apartment is perfectly situated in the middle, truly center, of Paris. The access to everything is so easy - walking distance to most things (Pantheon, Louvre, Orsay, etc) and only a few steps away to the hop on/hop off bus if you prefer or the Botobus (hop on/hop off boat). And the best part is that you are literally steps away from Notre Dame...seeing it at night (or anytime you want) is surreal! Coffee shops, restaurants, bakery (delicious!)...oy. Lots of goodies that are just a blink away. The apartment itself is scrumptious. What you see is what you get. It is perfect! Everything is comfortable, homey, and quiet. Beautiful views of the River Seine. You can make this a home away from home if you like or use it as a base. Either way, you win. The access is secure as well so safety was never a concern. I was traveling alone so that was a big deal for me. The apartment is likely best for a couple of people, but the big chairs could sleep the younger ones. If you are looking for the best place in Paris, this is it. I absolutely loved my visit, made better by meeting two fabulous people and staying in an apartment that more than exceeded my expectations. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone seeking to have a truly fabulous experience in Paris.

We just returned from our stay at Marie-Christine and Marc's flat. We had an outstanding visit, largely due to the great location and fantastic accommodations. The apartment is incredibly well kept and everything is clean, perfectly functioning and our hosts had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Our only area of concern prior to arrival was using a fold down bed - but this isn't a cheap fold out as would be found in the US. Rather, it was very solid and we slept great. We found it was very comfortable and allowed living space during the day. The area is wonderful, with a great view and just down the block from Notre Dame. We will be recommending this rental to all our friends!

Perfect location. Nothing better than the sun rising on the seine, walking to Marais or Latin Quarter for dinner. Nice and cozy. Great bathroom. The landlords are local, very friendly and very accessible. You couldn't get a better studio in Paris.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2011

About the owner: We're a friendly French, English, German & Spanish-speaking family who are happy to welcome all nationalities with open arms... We know all the best places in Paris and we will be here to help make your stay care-free and wonderful!

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4:
Here are 4 good reasons why renting our apartment will make your vacation more memorable : 1. Location Location Location Fortunately, we are situated in the most centric and important part of the city, on an island on the Seine river. The island is called Ile de la Cite and it's the site of the original settlement of the Parisii tribe and the birthplace of Paris as we know it! 2. Unbeatable Comfort you won't find in any hotel We are avid travelers too and we know that a bad night's sleep on a really hard, lumpy mattress with a limp pillow can really ruin your trip. We've spared no expense in order for you to have the most satisfying night's sleep! 3. Luxurious furnishings and modern amenities Apart from the aforementioned comfortable bed, there are also big comfy chairs to recline in, plenty of closet space and suitcase storage, a large marble shower with vintage-looking chrome fixtures and a beautiful ceramic pedestal sink and suspended toilet. 4. You have total freedom (but we're there for you too) It's nice to get a warm welcome after a long-haul flight, most hotel receptionists in Paris are rude. There's no real customer service because seeing that Paris is the most visited place in the World (almost 8mil in 2011), they know they'll always be full. We will always welcome you with a smile as we are genuinely pleased for you to be our guests!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
You will fall in love with the BREATHTAKING VIEWS on the Seine River and Paris Monuments! The location is in the heart of Paris, in the historic city center. The apartment is in mint condition for being more than 400 years old! We tried our best to preserve the original charm by uncovering the wood beams in the ceiling that we discovered are signed and dated, a real rarity. The apartment is just magical, you feel like you stepped back in time.
