About the owner: Nancy and Ken Jones have a romantic backstory: they met in 1969 as teenagers at a dude ranch where Ken, a Montana native, worked as a wrangler, and Nancy, from Massachusetts, was a guest. Thirty-three years later they reconnected and tied the knot. After completing careers in Colorado, they retired to their lovely 'Lucky 2 Ranch,' where Ken is a leatherworker with a passion for the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting and Nancy enjoys freelance writing, trail riding, and hiking. They share their property with a small menagerie of horses, dogs, and a cat that always has the final say.
Why the Owner Chose Other Whitefish Properties: Ken grew up riding horses and had a successful career working at and managing/owning high-profile guest ranches in Wyoming and Colorado for 35 years. After retiring in 2005, he was eager to move back to his native Montana. He and Nancy wanted to find an area that combined the agricultural/rural flavor of his former ranches with the 'happening' environment of nearby communities with fun year round events such as festivals, farmers markets, and theatre/music venues. Their Lucky 2 Ranch is in a great location to take advantage of wonderful recreational opportunities as well, from boating on the Flathead or Whitefish lakes to hiking the myriad accessible trails in the vicinity.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: We love the layout of the ranch, with the combination of Douglas fir and larch trees providing privacy at the edges of the property and the open expanse of meadow to the northwest, affording spectacular sunsets. Deer routinely stroll through our property en route to the nearby Stillwater River, and bands of wild turkeys strut their stuff around the grounds. Songbirds, and soaring hawks and bald eagles make this their home as well, and coyotes can sometimes be heard yipping at the moon at night.
