Welcome to vacation rental hunting on VRBO! This is where folks like my husband and I post our vacation homes to rent for folks like you to enjoy. The difference between us and a resort managed unit is that it is our home away from home and we’ve taken great care to make it the way we want a home to be, relaxing and comfortable with decorative touches, luxurious linens, a fully equipped kitchen…all of the conveniences and feel of home and maybe even more (our patio furniture back home doesn’t come close to being as nice as the set we have here!). We also only have one unit to focus on (ours!) so it’s easy to make sure everything will be in order for you upon arrival and ensure a delightful experience during your stay (plus you'll know for sure THIS is the unit you'll get!).
We purchased our Unit D-30 in April 2014, and when searching for a property to buy on St. Thomas we chose Point Pleasant because it had several features that set it apart from other resorts. Point Pleasant was built on Mt. Pleasant with many individual buildings so it doesn’t have that apartment complex feel. Each building is set on the hillside instead of directly on the beach which means more privacy (people aren’t walking in front of you in your beach condo), the elevation captures the cooling breeze, and the 25 feet of glass patio sliding doors gives you expansive indoor/outdoor living with breathtaking views of neighboring St. John as well as the British Virgin Islands of Jost Van Dyke and Tortola. Point Pleasant also boasts three pools (ours is a very short stroll away), 24 hour security, onsite shuttle service, a nature trail and a private beach...what more could you ask for?!
Since April 2014 we spent almost three months renovating and replacing everything in our condo so it’s practically brand new! You’ve probably seen other units for rent at Point Pleasant as well as other resorts on St. Thomas, but I’d like to point out all the things we have to offer and their combination makes us unique. Our unit has:

We enjoy sailing so you’ll notice we’ve decorated with subtle nautical touches here and there, and the color selection was inspired by the mesmerizing ever changing view that’s the focal point of our condo (the walls are the color of shallow water and the floors are the colors of sand). Our goal was to create a place where you’ll feel comfortable and at home during your stay on beautiful St. Thomas. We hope you’ll settle in, relax, unwind, and create memories that will last a lifetime!

- Your unit has a loft bedroom that overlooks the living area, and you have the choice of closing a set of shutters for privacy, or leaving them open and waking up to the view. The unique feature of the room is a tall king size West Indian four poster bed. You'll also have luxurious linens (either 100% Egyptian cotton, 800 thread count or bamboo sheets) and your choice from two king pillows or four standard pillows with different thicknesses and one Tempurpedic pillow, and the mattress is covered with a topper consisting of two inches of foam and a two inch down alternative cushion for ultimate comfort. There is also a ceiling fan centered over the bed, and the air conditioner unit is on the wall directly over the bed so you'll have the exact level of cooling comfort you need. The living room also has a pull out queen sleeper sofa with a memory foam mattress so whoever draws the short straw and gets this bed will feel like they got the long straw!...moreless

It's been completely renovated with all new fixtures and tile, and we replaced the tub with an oversize shower. Point Pleasant is just a three minute drive away to the hopping east end town of Red Hook where you'll find a variety of restaurants, shops, bars, a marina for catching day sails, and ferry service to St. John and the BVIs. Nearby you'll also find horseback riding, parasailing, the Coki Point Aquarium, eco tour kayaking, and several beaches. If you want to venture downtown to Charlotte Amalie, it's only a 15 minute drive away to more unique shops, restaurants and a wonderful historical area of St. Thomas.

About the owner: My name is Robin and my husband David and I have been married for 17 years and have a goal of relocating to St. Thomas after David retires from government service in a couple of years. By the time we got married, travelled and just had fun together, we decided it was too late to have children (plus David said he didn’t want to break his hip throwing the football around with the kids later on) so we’re that couple our friends have wanted us to babysit for and adopt as their kids’ Aunt and Uncle, but we foster dogs for the Central Oklahoma Humane Society instead! When David first moved to Oklahoma in 1985 with the US Air Force, he was young and bored and looking for something to do. His buddy talked him into learning how to windsurf on Lake Hefner (a lake conveniently located in the middle of OKC) and his love of sailing was born. When he and I met later, he bought a 14’ hobie cat and I quickly became hooked on the thrill of “riding the hull” (and didn’t mind being called “Ballast Babe”) and MY love of sailing began. After being married for a few years (he proposed to me on Grand Cayman Island and we honeymooned on St. Lucia…are you starting to discover how much we love the ocean?!), we took our first sailing charter in the Virgin Islands eleven years ago on the Ayacanora (a beautiful 72’ monohull who is still chartering there!) and absolutely fell in love with the experience and have been back many times after that. Since then, we’ve started our own sailing charter business on Lake Hefner in OKC and have been wonderfully surprised at the enthusiasm and response of our guests. We’ve had almost thirty proposals onboard and welcomed over 1000 guests on 400 charters in five years celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, just having fun, or enjoying a date night doing something different. This experience has honed our skills at providing outstanding customer service, something we feel confident will translate into managing our new vacation rental property venture!
Why the Owner Chose Point Pleasant:
Besides sailing, my other passion is home renovating and decorating. After I “retired” from my career in software development several years ago (I put this in quotes because David rolls his eyes whenever I say the word!) I got a chance to explore my creative side. I put my natural abilities for laser focusing on the details and renovated our home of thirteen years on two acres, sold it, down sized and bought a patio home for us to live in while I built a 4350 square foot house (because I thought I wanted to be a home builder) which we accepted a contract on and closed right after it was finished, so we’re still living in our patio home, which I renovated last fall of course! We’d been talking for a while about buying property on St. Thomas prior to making the move, so after a trip last January we found our Point Pleasant condo, and I just wrapped up a ten week renovation (yes, I had to live on island the entire time to oversee the contractor and David and I did a lot of the work ourselves!). The condo was originally built in the late 1970s and hadn’t been touched since then, so we got rid of everything, made a lot of improvements and cosmetic changes and bought all new furnishings, fixtures and household items (I think the only thing we kept was the blender!). Whoever gets to be the first guest to enjoy a virtually new property will be so lucky! Even though my husband and I have always lived in land locked states (I'm originally from Lawrence, KS and David grew up in Cincinnati, OH after calling Rockhold KY home during his childhood), we truly love our island home-away-from-home and hope you feel as comfortable there as we do. The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Point Pleasant has numerous features that make it unique, and in my opinion better than other similarly priced and nearby properties on island. Consider these features and see if they’re what you’re looking for (then call me to book our unit!): • The units are grouped into separate buildings so you immediately have more of a resort setting feel rather than an apartment feel. • Even though you think it might be really cool to rent a property right on the beach, think about the benefits of renting a unit on a hillside resort because: the breezes are wonderful (especially in the hilltop units like ours) so it’s rare to feel the need to run the a/c; you have privacy on your balcony and in your unit (I confess when I walk by a unit on the beach I look in the windows to see how it’s decorated, and when there’s people inside I feel like a peeping Tom!); you don’t need to worry about going to the gym, just walk the hillside for buns of steel (and feel free to eat as much as you want!); and the views are breathtakingly beautiful! • Most units are built with a wide expanse of windows which means you have more of a view and bigger living space (unlike the “tunnel” effect at other resort properties with less than half the width). • 24 hour security guards at the property entrance, not just at night. • Small but private beach where more often than not you will be the only guests there! • You have the use of three pools at different levels of the property, each with its own distinct feel and view, but your Hilltop pool is a very short walk away and situated where you won’t hear any noise, and often times you’ll have it all to yourself. • A nature trail planned for and built by the original owners of Point Pleasant. • Onsite shuttle service (for those of us who don’t want to work on our buns on vacation!) just a phone call away.
