The Farm Escape is a serene luxury residence located two hours from New York City on the border of Pennsylvania and New York State in Shohola, Pennsylvania. Shohola is Native American meaning peace and tranquility. This property is situated on five pastoral acres, overlooking the Catskills of New York. This home has been in national publications and HGTV. The Farm Escape is a newly renovated 1866 boarding house which was historically used to board patrons of the former Shohola Falls Glenn amusement park which in its hey day brought thousands each weekend at the turn of the century.
Purchased in 2000, each room was designed with great attention. What drew the owner to the property was a sense of happiness and tranquility that the home and land exuded. The Farm Escape is exquisitely furnished, so all you have to do is pack your bags and go!
Complete with five bedrooms and four bathrooms (one king, three queen and three twin pillow top mattresses), this home offers solace as well as opportunities to gather in the massive gourmet kitchen-living areas. You can wake up to the sounds of chickens, have a farm fresh breakfast, hike, kayak, paint, cook or just do nothing! After all, we all retreat in different ways.
The main open floor plan was designed with large groups in mind. The 14 foot kitchen island, the three sofas and easy chairs are a part of the massive "interactive" kitchen. Cook, hang, watch movies and laugh in this really cool room.
NEW 2008! We have added a media room on the first floor. Now you can sit on the comfy sectional sofa, watch a movie on the flat screen TV with surround sound, read a book, listen to music or surf the internet wirelessly! THIS ROOM ROCKS!
Nearby in Barryville New York (four minutes from The Farm Escape) is a spectacular award winning country store River Market, which boasts a stupendous gourmet deli, fish and meat market, specialty foods as well as movie rentals, gifts and filling station. The market sits on River Road which overlooks the historic Delaware River. The setting is breathtaking and not to be missed by visitors.
