Maalaea condo description
Condo just repainted--be the first to enjoy!
Rest on the lanai or visit many places on Maui that will leave you with lifetime memories.
If you don't see the dates you want available on my calendar, please contact me. I also help friends rent their condos and can probably find you an oceanfront condo for your stay.
Whether you are inside or out you'll be in the tropical mood staying in our condo. Painted with palm trees as you enter you will get the same feeling inside as you will find outside among the tropical foliage and banana trees.
Our fully-equipped, smoke-free, private, oceanfront, one bedroom, one bath, third floor condo in the Milowai commands a magnificent panoramic view of the deep blue ocean. Direct your eyes downward from the lanai to the pool, which is equally as blue as the ocean. It is truly the endless summer!
Have your breakfast on the lanai, as we love to do, while watching the sunrise over the majestic Haleakala volcano while you mentally plan your lazy day.
Hey...ask us about the 2-bedroom we have available for only $130/nt plus tax and cleaning...also oceanfront!
There are 41 units in our complex and we are surrounded by cane fields and the ocean. Among the stenciled palm trees, our condo is tastefully decorated in Pier One style and has everything you can imagine to make your vacation extremely comfortable. We've equipped it as we would like a vacation rental to be for us. In fact, we just bought a new sealy mattress and box spring so your nights with be just as enjoyable as your days!
In the winter months you can relax right on the lanai and let the humpback whales entertain you, or walk a block to the Ma'alaea Harbor and board one of the many boats available to take you out into the Harbor for a real up-close view.
Oh, and don't forget to watch for the turtles swimming around. On the walk back, take advantage of a great meal at one of the award-winning restaurants for a quick snack or full-course lunch or dinner.
At the end of our dead-end road, there is a four-mile sandy beach that awaits your laziness. On your walk to the beach, you will be greeted by the friendliest people you can meet -- hellos and smiles will be abound.
Once at the beach you can sit in the warm inviting sunshine, or under one of the wide, broad shaped trees. We've even seen vacationers taking advantage of a relaxing massage right on the beach. Now that's heaven on earth!
The Ocean Center (Aquarium) and shops are located one block away and a miniature golf and rock climbing center is right next door to the Ocean Center.
There is also a convenience store and gas station located in the Ocean Center complex for your quick shopping needs. Major shopping is ten minutes away and we are centrally located so you can visit all parts of the Island very easily.
No Smoking, No Pets.

AMAZING VIEW/LOCATION- we were SO happy with Barb and her condo!
AMAZING VIEW/LOCATION- we were SO happy with Barb and her condo!
First of all, the lanai at this condo is pure paradise. We spent many mornings and evenings relaxing on the private lanai and taking in the awesome view while sipping on a margarita. :) This was by far our favorite part of the condo. We also loved exploring out front- we saw many sea turtles and crabs. My husband even spotted a whale full breach a ways out! (Bring binoculars.) The 4 mile beach a couple blocks from the condo is a GREAT walking beach. We liked that it was not too crowded. The waves are not very big so it's not great for water sports, but it is beautiful. We saw people fishing, and families with kiddos playing in the water/boogie boarding. The condo is also very convenient in that you can walk to the Maalaea Harbor. The bus stops right at the harbor- $2 for a 30 minute ride (with awesome views!!) to Lahaina or Kihei. We did a cocktail cruise and snorkel trip that both departed out of Maalaea; you can't beat the 5 minute walk to these types of activities. (Both were through the Pacific Whale Foundation and were a lot of fun.) We were also very impressed with Barbara and her hospitality. We were surprised to find a "welcome basket" with island banana bread, coffee, tea, and local jam! So sweet! The condo is decorated very island-ish which is fun. :) Barbara also went of her way to correct one of our mistakes: we ended up leaving a load of laundry in the dryer. We called from Honolulu panicked that we wouldn't see any of our clothes again, but Barbara put our minds at ease and told us she would send them back to the mainland for us (free of charge!!!!). We were so grateful and happy. Thank you, Barbara! Ugh- writing this is so hard because we just want to be back on that lanai listening to the waves crash... :) We will be back one day.

Great condo and location
Great condo and location
We stayed in this condo for 6 days and had the best vacation! The condo was perfect for my husband and I. The view from the lanai is amazing! As soon as we arrived we already saw a couple of turtles. The condo had everything you would need except food. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. Barbara gave us excellent info on where to go and things to do. I will definitely be back and stay here again!

Just got back from staying in this adorable and charming condo! It had everything we needed to cook, beach, bbq, and even had a great surf break right outside. Ma'alaea is the perfect location with a few shops in walking distance (but no touristy crowds of Lahaina) and a 4 mile walking beach just at the end of the street. My husband tells me not to write such a great review or it will never be available again! He has a point.

Enjoyed our stay
Enjoyed our stay
We loved watching the sunrise over the north end of Haleakala in the morning, seeing the boats leave the harbor headed to Molokini and watching turtles feeding on the rocks. The lanai was in the shade in the afternoon when returned from beach time and made a wonderful place to relax and watch the surfers. We had to use the A/C a couple of days when the Kona weather pattern stilled the trades and brought hot humid air. The other days with the regular trades blowing had wonderful airflow through the bedroom and living room keeping the condo nice and cool. The condo is stocked with everything you need. Bed was nice and comfy. Loved the location. Reserved covered parking was a plus.Enjoyed our stay and will return.

Great Location and Oceanfront View!
Great Location and Oceanfront View!
This condo has an excellent oceanfront view and great lanai and Ma'alea is an excellent location on Maui. We were no more than 20 mins away from many of the activities we took part in. By far the nicest feature of this condo is it's lanai with oceanfront view! The furniture on the lanai was new and modern. The grassy area near the pool and grills were very nice. The bedroom was very warm and inviting (and comfortable) as well. The bathroom is small. The condo felt smaller than it appeared in the photo's and the condo as a whole needs updating. It could use a fresh coat of paint. The furniture in the living area is fairly old and uncomfortable to sit in except for the futon (the futon was comfortable to sit in). There was no rubber spatula in the kitchen utensils. There were some housekeeping and maintainance issue's. The owner responded to our needs in a very timely manner, which we appreciated. I wish there was snorkling gear available to us and the beach chairs were very uncomfortable and barely usable. I noticed the rental price had increased and I'm not sure I would rent again unless the condo was updated. The 4 mile beach at the end of the road, we found to be dirty and smelly! The sand was tan, not white. We walked down the beach about 1/2 mile and noticed a 4-tent campsite (for campers or homeless, not sure which), there is also what appears to be a sewer pipe draining into the water (not sure if it's old or still being used). We did not feel comfortable spending time at this beach. The "small kiddie beach" at the condo is not an area I would take my grandchildren to, I would take them to a much nicer beach to play at.

Owner response: Aloha and thanks for the review! Feedback is so important to improve and clarify. Just some clarification. We don't provide snorkeling equipment to guests for sanitary reasons. There are many fine places to rent equipment for reasonable rates and this is their business and they have the best, safest equipment available in all mask and foot sizes. We provide sand chairs that are replaced often and were just newly purchased 2 months ago. There are also boogie boards, beach mats and towels, beach umbrellas and coolers for the use of guests. The kitchen and living room were painted last summer. Glad to hear the futon is comfortable as it's the oldest piece of furniture in the living room! The other chair and tables were just replaced last summer with the newly purchased lanai furniture. Sorry to say the washer needed repair during this stay but the guests were terrific about the quick service call. The County of Maui maintains Haycraft Park, which is called sugar beach and county workers are there each morning at 7 AM maintaining the beach. It is also the longest walking beach on Maui. The pipe referred to provides runoff from Keala Pond National Wildlife Refuge. A self-contained resort with a more controlled environment and communal activities sounds like it would have been a better choice for this trip.

This is our third trip in a row to Maui and our second in this condo complex. We love it so much we already booked 2013. For the money this is the place to stay. It has everything you need and the view is amazing. We spend our days on the beaches snorkeling and our nights relaxing on the lanai watching the whales. Life doesn't get any better then this. We stay for two weeks but can't wait till we can stay longer. We also love having the underground parking and the washer and dryer in the condo. Barbara thank you again for the use of your wonderful condo's. And yes what you see is what you get.

This condo was perfect for us. The location is convienient, it was quite and clean. We loved sitting out on the lanai and watching the turtles in the ocean every evening. The walking beach down the block is a nice bonus! I have to admit that I was nervous- because we booked it right before the poor review was posted on this condo, but it was a really great place to stay! If you are looking for a place to stay that feels like home- this is it. The ammenities and the view are unbeatable!

This is our home away from home for 7 weeks each year. We have stayed in Barbara's condo now for the past 6 years, and have booked our upcoming stays 2 years in advance. We have stayed in other condos and hotels prior to finding this condo and can assure you there is no better value on Maui. Barbara supplies everything you could need for your stay, except your food. The washer and dryer in the condo definitely saves you valuable vacation time and money (no laundromat visits). Plus, the condo is centrally located on the Island. I always have to work while there, so the WIFI makes that possible and the occasional whale watching from the lanai also makes work more enjoyable. The condo is clean and if you have any concerns, Barbara is always reachable by cell and is quick to respond to any issue. We highly recommend this condo to anyone visiting Maui and we’re counting down to our next visit in 2013.

Not clean and very misleading
Not clean and very misleading
This listing was not accurate. The kiddie beach is a harbour that had broken beer bottle glass and ciggarette butts scattered all over. The condo was filthy, toilet had urine stained around it, shower has tons of mold and there were tons of ants crawling over the counters and the dishes in the cabinets had food crusted to them and were clearly dirty. The condo was renevated very poorly/sloppy (grout all up the wall in the bathroom) the cabinets smelled like an outhouse and it was overall gross. The swimming pool was ice cold, even on the hottest day it was not pleasant. I ended up getting so sick that I was in urgent care and in bed for the last 7 days of my trip. I definately would not recomend this place. The photo of the condo on the beach is not this one (I would like to know where the sand went?? Very misleading, just because it was decorated in pier one imports, does not mean its nice or clean. The day we arrived she had the cleaner come again....I saw no difference she was there for 10 min. she did get an exterminator but seriously, thats not what you want to see on vacation (the ant problem did not go away). The resturant on the main floor is closed for business as well.

Owner response: Wow, can not believe all this happened in the 5 days in-between guests that gave it an outstanding review. Guests arrived at 8 PM and called me to say they were not happy with the cleanliness of the condo. I immediately went over to see what they meant and called in the cleaner to take care of the items of concern to the guests. The cleaner came over at eight thirty PM. The guests communicated to me about their horrendous day of travel from early that morning and I suggested they go out to dinner since they hadn't eaten most of the day while the cleaner re-cleaned to their satisfaction. The cleaner was there for an hour while the guests were out at dinner. The condo was not filthy, did not have urine stained around the toilet and there was no mold in the shower. I know this because I bring over refrigerator treats for all incoming guests and do a quick once-over. I never would have allowed a condo in a state such as reported to be rented. That said, I am always willing to work with guests to make their stay a pleasant one, even it it means moving them to another condo for their stay. I just need to know how unhappy one might be. Just to clarify some facts: all beaches in Hawaii belong to and are open to the public. Our kiddie beach included. The community association holds monthly beach clean-ups and many just visiting the beach pick up trash when they see it. The ants: we occasionally have little sugar cane ants and the condo building itself is serviced every 2 months by a pest management service. They come out special to take care of any problems in-between the servicing. There is no exterminator, just a visit by the pest management company to re-treat. I would not characterize the ant problem as tons as I saw then with my own eyes. Photos: The photos are accurate. There is a 4-mile white sandy beach for swimming and walking at the end of our dead-end road. One of the pictures on the website is of the beach. On the website and in the materials sent to incoming guests clearly states where this beach is. Restaurant: The Waterfront Restaurant, once located in our condo building has expanded and is now located in the shopping center up the street by the Aquarium. It was only open for dinner when located at the condo building. Now it can open for lunch and has expanded parking. The condo where it was once located is up for sale. Aloha, Barbara
Aloha, We stayed in this condo for five days and loved it. The condo was nice and clean, the kitchen has all the pots and pans you might need and some spices also. The view is oceanfront with a well maintained lawn downstairs by the grill. Perfect location between Kihei with gorgeous beaches and Lahaina. The traffic was not bad at all. I would stay here anytime. The owner, Barbara, provided all the information we needed, and extra advice also. Thank you for everything. Mahalo,
