Maui’s stunning white sand swimming/snorkeling beaches are too numerous to count and on all sides of the island. Ho`okipa, the surfing/windsurfing capital of the world, is just 10 short minutes away. Twin Falls, a lovely tropical rainforest hike ending in fresh water pools and waterfalls, is 10 minutes in the direction of Hana.
The charming towns of Haiku, minutes away (home of one of the best yoga studios anywhere!) and both Makawao (our quaint paniolo/cowboy town) and Paia (our hip, multi-cultural town) are just 15 minutes away - and are chock full of unique shops, delicious dining and exciting art galleries, as well as a host of alternative and health food establishments.
Tired of tranquility? Lahaina (touristy side) is a leisurely drive away. Want to visit another planet? Haleakala Crater, 10,000 foot elevation, the center of our island is like visiting the moon - Hana to the east is a place stopped in a softer sweeter time.
When you arrive at TajMaCottage, walk through the enticing red door onto travertine marble floors leading to two tranquil bedrooms with queen-size beds, luxuriously dressed in 100% cotton sheets and down/feather duvet. The bedrooms open out to a shared garden lanai and a private hot/cold outside shower. The lower floor also has a bathroom with hand-crafted tile shower and full laundry. The electric gate to the property opens to ample grounds and a covered carport for large item storage (windsurf, surfboards, etc.) There is a simple-to-use security system and safe for your valuables to assure your peace of mind.
Ascend the Brazilian Cherry wood stairs to the bright great room with ocean and tree views through panoramic windows. The tasteful and comfortable furnishings rest under vaulted ceilings and are surrounded by beautiful natural wood throughout. The gourmet kitchen is well equipped and boasts granite countertops and a four person breakfast bar in addition to the dining area. Enjoy a lazy afternoon on the generous lanai (porch) in the swing reading a book or have a lovely grilled dinner for six watching the sunset over the ocean.
