This charming, beachfront vacation home is a stone's throw from the sand dunes and ocean surf, located in the peaceful North Beach neighborhood of Amelia Island. Wake up to watch the waves from the master bed, with a pelican's eye view of the water. An 180-degree, wraparound deck overlooks seagrass dunes to the shore just 50 yards away. Barefoot walks before breakfast are easy with the dune walkover in front of the house.

The house may be relatively modern, but it is full of history. From the moment you open the porthole front door, you will begin to discover relics from an old ship inside. The boater's pine paneling rise to a vaulted beamed ceiling, reclaimed from a historic church decades ago. The antique sailboat model on the two-story stone fireplace reflect life on a barrier island, surrounded by seas and rivers, stones and sand.

Recently renovated in tasteful nautical decor, we have preserved the original architecture while adding modern furnishings, appliances, and new designer bedding. Now with High-Speed Wireless Internet Access, you can surf the web and watch the surf at the same time.

Why the Owner Chose Other Fernandina Beach Properties

For us, we wanted a place that was an easy drive from home ... just 6 hours from Atlanta. While we looked in the Destin area, St. Augustine, south Georgia islands and more, there was not a place that matched the history, character and recreation options of Amelia Island. We call it 'Mayberry on the Beach.' It's a place with very real, down-home people; no hyper-inflated prices; gorgeous, safe beaches; great places to shop and dine; and all the golf/tennis/riding/kayaking/boating/culture we might want in one place. No wonder it's one of the top 5 islands in North America. (Traveler Magazine readers think so, not just us!).

A
Main Beach Park

Grassy park with covered picnic areas, beach access, playgrounds, basketball courts, skate park, miniature golf.

B

C
Historic Downtown and Marina

Shops, Restaurants and Fishing/Sailing Marina

D
Ft. Clinch State Park

Named #1 park in Florida's state system, this eco-wonderland boast great beaches, lighthouse lookout, fascinating hiking and biking trails, cool creatures and birds, picnic and fishing pier and a pris

E
Elizabeth Pointe B&B for Breakfast

Stroll down the beach for breakfast at Conde Nast Traveler's #1 Inn in the US. Tasty!

F

Free for public use. You can also try YMCA or Ritz-Carlton for a modest day use fee.

G
Island Falls Miniature Golf

The best miniature golf course in the Southeast, by far. An island favorite!

Ocean Glory has been a labor of love for us ... serial renovators with a love of the ocean and a belief that cookie-cutters are for sugar cookies, not houses. We were blessed with the opportunity to buy a place that had a fascinating history, on the market for just 6 days that we stumbled upon and fell in love with. Yet, it desperately needed updating. We spent more money fixing and re-furnishing Ocean Glory than our own residence in Atlanta, creating a place of memories for our young sons, friends and family. We are delighted to be able to share Ocean Glory with missionaries, church staff and others who are in need of a special getaway. May your stay with us will bring you a bit of the blessing we've experienced in owning it.

Excellent Family Vacation Home!

Guest: Dana (Atlanta, GA)
Date of Stay: 06/18/11 Review Submitted: 07/28/11

We spent a week in June at this home and it had everything we look for in a vacation...great views, all amenities, comfortable beds, tv and high speed internet. The only complaint at all was our verizon phones weren't picking up much of a signal in the house, but we found little spots here and there where we could get bars. The house is so comfortable and they truly supplied just about everything you could possibly need. Yes, the deck is great..you could sit out there all day! And night! Thank you for sharing your home, we loved it there, so peaceful!

Owner response:That's right: one of the best experiences is sitting on the deck taking in the millions of stars you just can't see in the city or suburbs. And finding the cell phone hot spots does take a little trial and error. There's a land line there as a back-up if needed. -- Paula, owner

Great winter getaway

We had a great time in a beautiful home. It was very comfortable with fantastic views from bedrooms and living area. The beach was fantastic and the deck, well I could live on that deck. Even in January it was warm enough to sit out early and drink my coffee. Ocean Glory is a real gem. Thanks!

Ocean Glory is...glorious. The house is immaculate, and well-equipped with everything one needs for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is ideal, quiet yet overlooking the beach. Coffee on the deck, either in the am or pm, is the best part of the day. We really loved our stay and plan to visit again. Highly recommended.

Perfect Weekend

Guest: Barb (Myrtle Beach)
Date of Stay: 10/22/10 Review Submitted: 11/02/10

We just spent a long October weekend at Ocean Glory and it was perfect. The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable and the owners were a delight to work with. Everything that you need was right there. The kitchen was well stocked and we used the gas grill each night. There was a wonderful seafood market 5 minutes away and if you are there on a Saturday, do not miss the farmers market. In the future when we visit we will plan our meals around all the goodies at the market. The very best part of the visit was sitting on the beautiful deck looking out at the ocean and walking the beach. We were fortunate enough to have perfect weather and a full moon! We really loved this home and plan on returning. Thank you Ocean Glory.

Very Relaxing, Perfect for Family Vacation

Guest: ecoxmit (Boston, MA)
Date of Stay: 05/06/10 Review Submitted: 05/18/10

My wife, 9 month baby and I stayed for 9 nights at Ocean Glory in May. We had a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful, exactly as shown in the pictures and the description is very accurate. This is a special house. I'm quite picky and do a lot of research to find my vacation spot, usually resorts. The owner was incredibly responsive to questions. I count more than 30 emails back and forth! The agency that handles things were also very friendly and professional. The deck is the big selling point. I advise anyone renting a beach house to compare decks---it is far more important than anything else, if you have a good one. This one is amazing. It has a high table and a regular table, each with four chairs and it has two very nice recliners. The views of the ocean are amazing and it is just very pleasant. Since it is facing the ocean (east), you start to get some shade from the roof's house around noon, which can be quite a relief. The ocean breeze keeps mosquitos and no-see-ums away. The location is right in front of the beach and very close to it. The sand road in front of the house is not used much, except for a bit of beach parking (more so on the weekends) and is not level with the house, so doesn't disturb the view. I'd say the distance to the beach is closer than those on South Fletcher, since you have less of a dune crossing. So it is very convenient to come and go, which was important to us with the baby. The beach is very nice. I hadn't been to Amelia and didn't know what to expect. It's a very wide beach, nice sand and lots of shells. The ocean was definitely warm enough for swimming but cool enough to get some relief from the heat and sun. Waves vary with the days and tide, but I enjoyed having some body surfing. It is just north of one of the main public beaches, so you get a lifeguard, as well as a bit of crowds on the weekends, but nothing too crowded. You can always have privacy if you want it. As you walk north it gets more desolate and you reach the beach on Clinch Park and pier, which makes for a nice walk. We didn't do much around Amelia. I took tennis lessons at Ritz Carlton,a 10-15 min drive. My wife did an Amelia Kayak tour. We went once to town and to Clinch Park. The town is not a major draw but fine. With the baby, we mostly wanted to stay in anyways. We stocked up on groceries at Publix (on Sanders). Dined on the deck. I used the gas grill quite a few times. Very low key. Lots of rest and peace. Exactly what we were looking for

Ocean Glory Truly a Retreat!

Guest: Cathy & David (Minneapolis, MN)
Date of Stay: 03/09/10 Review Submitted: 05/05/10

My husband and I stayed at Ocean Glory for several weeks in March and loved the home. The description is true, only it's better in person. The home is very clean, nicely decorated and the updates are great. We loved walking the beach, sitting on the great porch, golfing, and watching the dolphins swim out front. Highly recommended.

Wonderful, Private Home

Guest: JoyAuburnGirl (Marietta, GA)
Date of Stay: 08/20/08 Review Submitted: 03/29/10

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ocean Glory. The experience exceeded our expectations on all levels, from the well-kept quality of the home to the intriguing local area to the gorgeous view. It does not disappoint on any of the promises made in the listing. It can't get any closer to the water, and the wraparound deck is perfect for relaxing as you listen to the waves. Whenever we travel anywhere near Amelia Island in the future, Ocean Glory will be our first choice!

Beautiful House -- Great 180 degree view of ocean

Guest: Jones (Raleigh, NC)
Date of Stay: 01/01/10 Review Submitted: 03/14/10

We finally found a gem on the island. The house was beautiful inside and out and it appears the owners recently renovated it completely and did an amazing job. I would recommend this house to anyone interested in a 180-degree view of the ocean and in a quiet neighborhood. We plan to return.
