Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
My parents, Randy and Debbie moved to the area when they were still in middle school. They met and started dating in high school. While they both went away for a while in college they both came back and lived in the area for a while before getting married. Not long after getting married they bought a piece of property in the Santa Cruz Mountains. There they lived off the land (no power or water or any city connections and it is still that way!) while raising four kids (I am the youngest). They bought another piece of property in Loma Mar about 5 miles East of Pescadero mid 90s. They rented this out.
Around that same time my father started his own plumbing company after working in his brother in laws company for several years.
In 2001 they bought another piece of property right in Pescadero itself, and made both houses on it rentals.
Also on it is a beautiful barn that my mother started using for art. She had stoped painting for a while after I was born, and since I had finally entered my teen years and was more independent.
After a couple years a friend told us about vacation rentals and mom decided to turn the newer house on the property into a vacation rental, the Tower.
Unfortunitly two years ago my mom died of a rare disease, so now I manage the Tower for my father as well as the bookkeeping for our plumbing bussines. However much of my mom lives on in me, as well as my other siblings and our wonderful houses and quite frankly our whole community where she was very involved.
Why the Owner Chose Pescadero
Because it is where we live and we love it. My parents did not buy this property intending it to be a vacation rental.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Although I have spent the night at the Tower, I wouldn't say I have really stayed there before. Since its right next door to my office I don't really consider it getting away!
